Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The association of low Vitamin D and chronic inflammation in the onset of cognitive decline in the elderly population has been established but the variable population-based study is still lacking.
Methodology: The present study aims to investigate the level of plasma Vitamin D, pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, cognitive performance, and white matter changes in the elderly population in the North-Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are flashes of high-energy radiation arising from energetic cosmic explosions. Bursts of long (greater than two seconds) duration are produced by the core-collapse of massive stars, and those of short (less than two seconds) duration by the merger of compact objects, such as two neutron stars. A third class of events with hybrid high-energy properties was identified, but never conclusively linked to a stellar progenitor.

Condensed tannins (CTs) are polyphenolics and part of the total phenolic (TP) pool that shape resistance in aspen (Populus tremula). CTs are negatively associated with pathogens, but their resistance properties against herbivores are less understood. CTs shape resistance to pathogens and chewing herbivores and could also shape resistance to aphids.

The proposed model is unimodal and positively skewed whereas the hazard rate function is monotonically increasing and inverted bathtubs. Some important properties of the new distribution are derived such as quintile function and median; asymptotic properties and mode; moments; mean residual life, mean path time; mean deviation; order statistics; and Bonferroni & Lorenz curve.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant growth regulator known for its functions, especially in seed maturation, seed dormancy, adaptive responses to biotic and abiotic stresses, and leaf and bud abscission. ABA activity is governed by multiple regulatory pathways that control ABA biosynthesis, signal transduction, and transport. The transport of the ABA signaling molecule occurs from the shoot (site of synthesis) to the fruit (site of action), where ABA receptors decode information as fruit maturation begins and is significantly promoted.

Superhalogens have been a subject of continuous attraction in the last four decades due to their unusual structures and interesting applications. In the quest for new superhalogens based on boronyl (BO) ligands, we investigate M(BO) anions using a high-level ab initio CCSD(T) and B3LYP density functional method for M = Li, Na, K, Be, Mg, Ca, B, and Al. Their structures are linear for M = Li, Na, K; trigonal planar for M = Be, Mg, Ca; and tetrahedral for M = B, Al.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that mass media platforms are playing a crucial role in disseminating information about the COVID-19 pandemic. As media coverage of pandemic using frightening language has been speculated to induce emotional disturbances in people and fluctuations in their resilience level, this study was performed to explore the effect of COVID-19 related news on individual's emotions and resilience. It was hypothesized that altering the type of news would produce varying levels of emotions and resilience in participants.

This paper deals with mathematical modelling and analysis of a SEIQR model to study the dynamics of COVID-19 considering delay in conversion of exposed population to the infected population. The model is analysed for local and global stability using Lyapunov method of stability followed by Hopf bifurcation analysis. Basic reproduction number is determined, and it is observed that local and global stability conditions are dependent on the number of secondary infections due to exposed as well as infected population.

Under the natural environment, nutrient signals interact with phytohormones to coordinate and reprogram plant growth and survival. Sugars are important molecules that control almost all morphological and physiological processes in plants, ranging from seed germination to senescence. In addition to their functions as energy resources, osmoregulation, storage molecules, and structural components, sugars function as signaling molecules and interact with various plant signaling pathways, such as hormones, stress, and light to modulate growth and development according to fluctuating environmental conditions.

Sirtuin 2 (Sirt2) nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent deacetylase enzyme has been reported to alter diverse biological functions in the cells and onset of diseases, including cancer, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases, which implicate the regulation of Sirt2 function as a potential drug target. Available Sirt2 inhibitors or modulators exhibit insufficient specificity and potency, and even partially contradictory Sirt2 effects were described for the available inhibitors. Herein, we applied computational screening and evaluation of FDA-approved drugs for highly selective modulation of Sirt2 activity via a unique inhibitory mechanism as reported earlier for SirReal2 inhibitor.

Unlabelled: Plant-microbiome interactions are significant determinant for plant growth, fitness and productivity. Depending upon the specific habitat, plants' microbial communities are classified as the rhizo-, phyllo-, and endospheric regions. Understanding the plant microbiome interactions could provide an opportunity to develop strategies for sustainable agricultural practices.

The functional modification in graphene leads to novel characteristics. We study a lithiated graphene quantum dot (LiG) and adsorption of a single alkali atom (M = Li, Na, and K) on its surface using the B3LYP-D3 method. The structures of M@LiG attain the lowest energy with M adsorbed on the terminal ring of LiG.

Non-Steroidal biologically active heterocyclic compounds 4-(2-(4-chlorophenyl) benzo[d]thiazol-3(2H)-yl)-N-((3-substituted-2-hydrobenzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)methylene) thiazol-2-amine (3a-3d), 4-(2-(4-chlorophenyl)benzo[d]thiazol-3(2H)-yl)-N-((3-substituted - 2-hydrobenzo [d]thiazol-2-yl)methylene)oxazol-2-amine (3a'-3d'), (Z)-N'-(4-(2-(4-chlorophenyl)benzo[d]thiazol-3(2H)-yl)thiaol-2-yl)-N-(4-substituted phenylimino)-3-substituted-2-hydrobenzo[d]thiazole-2-carboxamidine (4a-4 h) and (Z)-N'-(4-(2-(4-chlorophenyl)benzo[d]thiazol-3(2H)-yl)oxazol-2-yl)-N-(4-substituted phenylimino) - 3-substituted-2-hydrobenzo[d]thiazole-2-carboxamidine (4a'-4h') were synthesized starting from 2-chloro-1-(2-(4-chlorophenyl)benzo[d]thiazol-3(2H)-yl) ethanone (1). The structure configuration of newly synthesized compounds has been determined by elemental analysis and various spectroscopic (IR, HNMR and GCMS) techniques. These compounds were tested for their anti-inflammation, analgesic, ulcerogenic, acute toxicity and free radical scavenging action and compared with reference drugs in albino rats.

This research paper aims at studying the impact of lockdown on the dynamics of novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan city of China in December 2019. Perceiving the pandemic situation throughout the world, Government of India restricted international passenger traffic through land check post (Liang, 2020) and imposed complete lockdown in the country on 24 March 2020. To study the impact of lockdown on disease dynamics we consider a three-dimensional mathematical model using nonlinear ordinary differential equations.
