Combating the double burden of malnutrition (DBM) in adolescents is a critical public health challenge in low-income countries like Ethiopia. However, past efforts have lacked focus and exhibited diverse governance strategies. Therefore, this study assesses the effect of selected double-duty interventions (DDIs) on DBM among adolescents in Central Ethiopia.

Objective: Asymptomatic peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is frequently overlooked in patients with cirrhosis, who are at increased risk for gastrointestinal complications that can lead to increased morbidity and mortality. We aimed to determine the prevalence and associated factors of asymptomatic PUD identified during screening endoscopy in patients with cirrhosis.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study among patients with cirrhosis at St.

Background: High unmet need for family planning combined with other factors, such as high early marriage and teenage pregnancy, increases the risk of developing obstetric fistula and other complications. This study aimed to assess spatial distribution and urban-rural disparities of unmet need for family planning among married/in-union women in Ethiopia.
Methods: The study was conducted on secondary data from a cross-sectional survey that was conducted nationally between September and December 2019 using a two-stage cluster design on a total of 265 enumeration areas.

Despite the importance of the knowledge of mammals' diversity, abundance, and habitat association for designing feasible conservation measures, most of the studies so far are emphasized in protected areas which in turn affects due understanding of the faunal records and conservation endeavors. Hence, we aimed to investigate species diversity, abundance, and habitat association of medium- and large-sized mammals at Harego Forest, South Wollo, Ethiopia, from November 2020 to October 2021, covering both wet and dry seasons. We classified the study area into natural forest, bushland, and woodland habitat types based on the topography and vegetation cover.

Overnutrition is characterized by abnormal or excessive fat buildup in the body's fatty tissue, leading to potential health issues associated with overweight or obesity. These conditions pose significant public health challenges for adolescents and are strong indicators of future obesity, illness, and even death. As a result, this study sought to examine the dietary behaviors and factors contributing to overnutrition in secondary and preparatory school students in Debre Berhan Town, Ethiopia.

Extra-intestinal pathogenic (ExPEC) is a virulent pathogen found in humans that causes the majority of urinary tract infections, and other infections such as meningitis and sepsis. ExPEC can enter the urinary tract through two modes: ascending from the bladder or descending from the kidneys. Human anatomical structures generally prevent the transmission of pathogens between the extra-intestinal area, kidneys, bladder, and urinary tract.

Background: The use of the multistate Markov chain model is a valuable tool for studying child undernutrition. This allows us to examine the trends of children's transitions from one state to multiple states of undernutrition.
Objectives: In this study, our objective was to estimate the median duration for a child to first transition from one state of undernutrition to another as well as their first recurrence of undernutrition and also to analyze the typical duration of undernourishment.

Studies have shown that the co-infection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) poses a major threat to the public health due to their combined negative impacts on health and increased risk of complications. Even though, some scholars formulated and analyzed the HBV and HIV co-infection model they did not consider the compartment that contains protected individuals against both HBV and HIV infections. They incorporated the optimal control theory and cost-effectiveness analysis simultaneously.

Background: Initiation of breast feeding within one hour of birth is the easiest and most cost-effective intervention to reduce the risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Conducting studies immediately after an hour of birth for the timely initiation of breastfeeding has the significance of initiating breastfeeding and acting immediately. However, there was a paucity of information in the region as well as in the country at large.

Assessing cognition with interview-based measures could be a low-resource alternative to traditional cognitive tests. We previously adapted the Cognitive Assessment Interview (CAI) into Amharic (CAI-A) for use with people with schizophrenia (PWS) in Ethiopia. This study examined the convergent and structural validity of the CAI-A in a group of 350 PWS sub-sampled from the Neuropsychiatric Genetics of African Populations - Psychosis (NeuroGAP-Psychosis) study, who fulfilled the inclusion criteria.
