Background: Patients with personality disorders (PDs) often have insecure attachment patterns and may be especially vulnerable to abrupt treatment changes. Patients with borderline PD (BPD) are often considered vulnerable to treatment interruption due to chronic fear of abandonment. Nonetheless, other PDs are poorly investigated.

Background: Relational and emotional problems, dysregulation, self-harming or substance abuse often characterize personality disorders (PD). In Norway, COVID-19 restrictions led to an abrupt shutdown of services from 12 March 2020 also including specialized PD treatments.
Aims: The objective of this study was to investigate social and mental distress among patients with PDs during the first COVID-19 wave.

January 2022
Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway.
Background: The societal shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic involved mental health services for personality disorder (PD) and was introduced from 12 March 2020 in Norway. Rapid implementation of treatment modifications was required for patients typically characterized by insecure attachment and vulnerability to separation.
Aim: To investigate immediate reactions to the shutdown of services; alternative treatment received; and differences related to age in a clinical sample of patients with PD.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the 30-year follow-up results after treatment of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures with 3 different surgical procedures.
Methods: A total of 150 patients with acute rupture of the ACL who were managed between 1986 and 1988 were randomized into 1 of 3 open repair methods: acute primary repair (n = 49), acute repair with a synthetic ligament augmentation device (LAD) (n = 50), or reconstruction with an autologous bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) graft with retention of the ACL remnants (n = 51). The 30-year follow-up included evaluation of clinical findings, the Tegner and Lysholm questionnaires, radiographic examination, and registration of revisions and knee arthroplasties.

Background: It has been suggested that vitamin D status or supplementation is important for maintaining or improving muscle strength and mobility in older adults. The study results, however, do not provide consistent results. We therefore aimed to summarise the available evidence systematically, including only studies conducted in community-dwelling older persons.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are an abundant and conserved class of small RNAs, which play important regulatory functions by interacting with the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of target mRNAs. Through this mechanism, miR-223 was shown to regulate genes involved in mammalian haematopoiesis, both in physiological and pathological contexts. MiR-223 is essential for normal myelopoiesis in mammals, promoting granulocyte, osteoclast and megakaryocyte differentiation and suppressing erythropoiesis.

Background & Aims: The prevalence of nutritional risk varies according to several factors. We aimed to determine the nutritional risk profile in a large Norwegian hospital population, specifically by age, disease category and hospital department.
Methods: Nutritional surveys are performed routinely at Haukeland University Hospital, Norway.

Heritability of bone mineral density (BMD) varies across skeletal sites, reflecting different relative contributions of genetic and environmental influences. To quantify the degree to which common genetic variants tag and environmental factors influence BMD, at different sites, we estimated the genetic (rg) and residual (re) correlations between BMD measured at the upper limbs (UL-BMD), lower limbs (LL-BMD) and skull (SK-BMD), using total-body DXA scans of ∼ 4,890 participants recruited by the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and their Children (ALSPAC). Point estimates of rg indicated that appendicular sites have a greater proportion of shared genetic architecture (LL-/UL-BMD rg = 0.

Background: Nutritional care for hospital in-patients is potentially important but challenging.
Objective: To investigate the association between nutritional status and clinical outcomes.
Methods: Eight prevalence surveys were performed at Haukeland University Hospital, Norway, during 2008-2009.

Background: Induction of intestinal malabsorption by jejunoileal (JI) bypass was a widely performed procedure for morbid obesity in the 1970's. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term results.
Methods: A total of 36 patients underwent JI bypass from November 1971 to September 1976.
