Introduction: Conservative treatment options, such as rest, massage, cold and heat packs, wrist splints, braces, physical therapy, thumb spica casts, and local steroid injections, have been used with mixed results to treat De Quervain's tenosynovitis. Surgical treatment, like releasing the first dorsal wrist compartment, is the last resort for resistant cases of De Quervain's tenosynovitis, exhibiting an efficacy of 91%. However, complications and increased expenses have limited the use of surgical interventions.

Background: De Quervain's tenosynovitis, characterized by the entrapment of the extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus tendons in the first extensor compartment, leads to pain and swelling near the radial styloid. When conservative treatments including rest and antiinflammatory medications fail, surgery is often recommended. This study aimed to compare transverse and longitudinal skin incisions with respect to surgical scars, postoperative pain, and functional outcomes in the open release of the first extensor compartment in radial styloid tenosynovitis.

Fibrolipomatous hamartomas of the median nerve are rare, benign tumors characterized by the overgrowth of fibro-fatty tissue within the nerve sheath, often leading to nerve compression. This report presents 2 cases: a 33-year-old man with a gradually enlarging wrist mass and a 48-year-old woman, initially diagnosed with De Quervain's tenosynovitis for radial pain, who was found to have an incidental fibrolipomatous hamartoma on MRI. In both cases, MRI played a pivotal role in diagnosis, revealing characteristic features that enabled a definitive, noninvasive diagnosis.

De Quervain's tendonitis develops when multiple factors coincide, causing the entrapment of two valuable tendons responsible for the normal range of motion of the thumb. Consequently, symptoms such as pain in the radial side of the wrist and difficulty in grasping and pinching manifest. This case report aims to discuss the presentation of De Quervain's tendinitis following trapeziectomy with suspensionplasty using the Mini TightRope implant (Arthrex, Inc.

Background: Policy impacting traditional Medicare beneficiaries may have unintended effects for privately insured patients. After the repeal of a longstanding $1500 outpatient therapy cap in 2018, we aimed to evaluate if this policy change was associated with differences in use of cost of postoperative therapy after common hand surgeries, including carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, ganglion cyst excision, De Quervain tenosynovitis release, carpometacarpal arthroplasty, and distal radius fracture open reduction/internal fixation or percutaneous pinning.
Methods: The Medicare Supplement and Coordination of Benefits files from Marketscan were used.

de Quervain's tenosynovitis (DeQ) is a clinical diagnosis; however, due to the symptom overlap with other pathologies, it can occasionally be challenging to make an accurate diagnosis, especially for nonorthopaedic trained physicians. We hypothesized that the ratio of radial-sided to ulnar-sided soft tissue swelling could serve as a universally accessible diagnostic tool to assist in differentiating DeQ from other upper extremity conditions. We retrospectively identified patients with isolated DeQ (M65.

Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided hydrodissection treatment for De Quervain's stenosing tenosynovitis, characterized by the narrowing of the first extensor compartment of the wrist. Notably, approximately 2% of cases involve a fibrous septum that divides the compartment.
Subjects And Methods: Ninety-five patients diagnosed with De Quervain's disease using ultrasound underwent hydrodissection treatment.

Unlabelled: Human hands have a complex anatomical structure. The thumb, being an integral part of the hand, has an essential function in gripping. In this sense, thumb fractures account for 4% of all hand fractures (it may occur in association with fractures of the trapezium).

Background: De Quervain tenosynovitis (DQT) is a condition that affects the first extensor compartment of the wrist, resulting in stenosing tenosynovitis. This work aimed to evaluate the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in the treatment of DQT in comparison with corticosteroid (CS) injections.
Methods: This study was carried out on 40 DQT patients aged above 18 years old of both sexes, based on a combination of clinical symptoms and signs including persistent tenderness on the radial styloid, swelling on the radial styloid, positive provocative tests such as the Finkelstein test, and patients with failed medical treatment.

Background: Therapy use is common following carpal tunnel release (CTR), trigger finger release, ganglion cyst excision, De Quervain tenosynovitis release, carpometacarpal arthroplasty, and distal radius fracture, open reduction internal fixation or percutaneous pinning (DRF). Policy that improves coverage influences the cost and use of health care services.
Purpose: This study aims to evaluate changes to the cost and use of postoperative hand therapy by race and procedure following the repeal of a longstanding annual Medicare outpatient therapy cap.

Background: De Quervain's tenosynovitis (DQt) is a prevalent chronic inflammatory musculoskeletal disorder predominantly affecting the radial aspect of the wrist. This study conducted a comprehensive review of the efficacy of acupuncture in treating De Quervain's tenosynovitis (DQt). Although there is evidence suggesting that acupuncture can alleviate symptoms of DQt-characterized by pain, swelling, and functional impairment-higher-level evidence is still required to further substantiate its efficacy and safety.

Incision of the dorsal side of the tendon sheath in release of De Quervain's tenosynovitis has traditionally been advocated to prevent the risk of volar tendon subluxation. We describe a novel technique of complete excision, rather than simple incision, of the first dorsal compartment tendon sheath. Over a 10-year period, 147 patients (154 wrists) underwent first dorsal compartment release using this technique of complete excision of the sheath.
