Molecular Subgroups of HRD Positive Ovarian Cancer and Their Prognostic Significance.

Homologous recombination repair deficiency (HRD) is involved in the development of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and its elevated sensitivity to platinum-based chemotherapy. To investigate the heterogeneity of the HRD-positive HGSOC we evaluated the HRD status, including BRCA mutations, genomic scar score, and methylation status of genes in 352 HGSOC specimens. We then divided the HRD-positive cohort into three molecular subgroups, the BRCA mutation cohort (BRCA+), BRCA1 methylation cohort (Meth+), and the rest of the HRD+ cohort (HRD+BRCA-Meth-), and evaluated their first-line chemotherapy response, benefit from olaparib, and progression-free survival (PFS).

The treatment landscape for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) has evolved significantly with the introduction of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi), such as Tofacitinib (TOFA), which offer a new therapeutic option for patients who have failed or are intolerant to conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARDs). Safety concerns, particularly related to cardiovascular and cancer risks, prompted a need for additional investigation in real-world clinical settings. This study aimed to evaluate the long-term effectiveness and predictors of response to TOFA in two subpopulations of RA patients, categorized by differing cardiovascular risk profiles.

Investigating the Impact of Sumac Capsules on Postpartum Bleeding among Women at Risk of Bleeding: a three-blind randomized clinical trial.

Objectives: Postpartum hemorrhage is a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. Emerging evidence suggests that the sumac plant possesses astringent and anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce menstrual bleeding. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of sumac capsules on postpartum bleeding among women at risk of excessive bleeding.

The Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test: adaptation into Russian and a new digital "RAVLT World".

The Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) is a classic test used to assess episodic verbal memory in research and clinical practice. We aimed to adapt the RAVLT materials into Russian, provide performance norms across the adult lifespan for the Russian adaptation, and develop a mobile application for automated RAVLT administration across languages. We created three psycholinguistically matched alternative versions of the RAVLT materials in Russian and incorporated them into a new tablet application.

Plasma phosphorylated tau and neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia with Lewy bodies.

Introduction: Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) are common in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) but their neurobiological mechanisms are poorly understood.

Methods: NPSs and cognition were assessed annually in participants (DLB n = 222; Alzheimer's disease [AD] n = 125) from the European DLB (E-DLB) Consortium, and plasma phosphorylated tau-181 (p-tau181) and p-tau231 concentrations were measured at baseline.

Results: Hallucinations, delusions, and depression were more common in DLB than in AD and, in a subgroup with longitudinal follow-up, persistent hallucinations and NPSs were associated with lower p-tau181 and p-tau231 in DLB.

To evaluate neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction (NBBD) in children with cerebral palsy (CP) and acquired brain injury (ABI), a condition considered less frequent in those patients than in children with spinal cord injury (SCI), and to study the relationship between NBBD and disability grade in this population. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of all patients (aged 3-18 years old) admitted during a three-month observation in our neurorehabilitation department. Liver transplantation (LT) is the best therapy for most patients with non-metastatic HCC. In recent years, the management of patients with HCC has considerably changed, thanks to the improvement of molecular biology knowledge and the introduction of immunotherapy.

Stepping Down from Inpatient and Stepping up from Partial Hospitalization Programs.

The complexity of child behavioral health and the importance of transitioning from the most restrictive to an intermediate level of care such as a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for high-risk youth is highlighted in this study. While inpatient hospitalization stabilizes youth in imminent danger, PHPs offer intensive treatment of those requiring more support than traditional outpatient care but less intensive than inpatient hospitalization. The transition between levels of care is determined by the severity of symptoms, high-risk behaviors, and clinical progress with planned step-downs from inpatient settings to a PHP and crisis-driven step-ups from a PHP to inpatient.

A qualitative exploration of the assessment process to cochlear implantation for children with hearing loss.

Objective: To explore the process of paediatric cochlear implant assessment, from referral to implantation, from the perspective of parents, cochlear implant professionals, and through observations of clinics.

Design: Qualitative approach, using grounded theory methodology.

Study Sample: Twelve families with children under 5 years with permanent hearing loss referred for a cochlear implant or received an implant in the past year, and six professionals who refer or assess children for cochlear implants.

A GWAS of ACE Inhibitor-Induced Angioedema in a South African Population.

Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor-induced angioedema (AE-ACEI) is a life-threatening adverse event and, globally, the commonest cause of emergency presentations with angioedema. Several large genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have found genomic associations with AE-ACEI. However, despite African Americans having a 5-fold increased risk of AE-ACEI, there are no published GWAS from Africa.

Background: Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is the second most common age-related neurocognitive pathology after Alzheimer's disease. Animal models characterizing this disease are lacking and their development would ameliorate both the understanding of neuropathological mechanisms underlying DLB as well as the efficacy of pre-clinical studies tackling this disease.

Mindfulness and compassion-based programs on eating behavior of post-bariatric surgery patients: A two phased clinical trial protocol.

Introduction: Weight regain after bariatric surgery remains a relevant and worrisome topic, requiring greater understanding and involvement in research into new adjuvant treatments. This study aims to compare the preliminary effectiveness and feasibility of the Mindfulness-Based Health Promotion and Attachment-Based Compassion Therapy programs as opposed to usual treatments (workshops) on the eating behavior of patients with progressive weight gain after bariatric surgery in Brazilian patients at a private clinic. It was hypothesized that both interventions are feasible and that the self-compassion program may be more effective than the mindfulness program.

Relapsing tumefactive demyelination lesions: A unique, distinct inflammatory brain pathology.

We report the case of a patient suffering from biopsy-proven relapsing tumefactive demyelinating lesions (TDLs) of the central nervous system who had five relapses in 16 years. No signs/symptoms suggestive of alternative pathologies emerged during the follow-up. A limited benefit was observed with intravenous (IV) high-dose steroids, while both plasma exchange and IV immunoglobulin G (IgG) administration were ineffective.
