Awareness and Knowledge of Venous Thromboembolism Among Saudi Adults in the Dawadmi Province: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background Venous thromboembolism (VTE) significantly contributes to the global disease burden. The annual incidence of VTE is one to two per 1,000 adults worldwide. We aimed to evaluate the awareness and knowledge of VTE risk factors, manifestations, prevention, and treatment options among the general adult population of Dawadmi, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Associations Among Knee Osteoarthritis Severity, Body Mass Index, and Physical Functions in Saudi Arabian Adults: A Multi-Center Cross-Sectional Study.

Background The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations among knee osteoarthritis severity, body mass index, and physical functions in Saudi Arabian adults. Methodology In this multi-center, cross-sectional study, we performed a secondary data analysis that included 189 adults aged 55 years or above with doctor-diagnosed knee osteoarthritis enrolled in five hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between March 2016 and March 2017. According to knee osteoarthritis severity, all of the individuals were divided into the following three groups: mild (n = 36), moderate (n = 75), and severe (n = 78).

The Relationship Between Knee Osteoarthritis-Related Pain Severity and Daily Activities Involving the Upper and Lower Limbs in Saudi Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Introduction Earlier research has shown an association between pain intensity and everyday activities in adults. However, it is vital to examine the relationship within the context of Saudi people who have knee osteoarthritis. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the connection between pain intensity and daily activities involving the lower and upper limbs among patients with knee osteoarthritis in Saudi Arabia.

Prevalence of surgical site wound infection after spine surgery in nasal colonization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: A meta-analysis.

The purpose of the meta-analysis was to evaluate and compare the prevalence of surgical site infection (SSI) after spine surgery (SS) in nasal colonization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The results of this meta-analysis were analysed, and the odds ratio (OR) and mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using dichotomous or contentious random- or fixed-effect models. For the current meta-analysis, 14 examinations spanning from 2014 to 2022 were included, encompassing 18 410 people who were tested for nasal colonization after SS.

Intra Nasal Use of Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid for Improving Olfactory Dysfunction Post COVID-19.

Background: COVID-19 has been associated with olfactory dysfunction in many infected patients. The rise of calcium levels in the nasal secretions plays an essential role in the olfaction process with a desensitization effect on the olfactory receptor neurons and a negative impact on the olfaction transmission. Ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) is a chelating agent that can bind free calcium in the nasal secretions, thereby reducing the adverse effects of calcium on olfactory function.

The Psychological Impact of Vitiligo in Saudi Arabia.

Background Vitiligo, the most common pigment disorder, impacts 0.5-2% of the global population, often causing psychological distress due to appearance changes and potential discrimination. Existing data on depressive symptoms and quality of life (QoL) effects in Saudi Arabian vitiligo patients are limited and inconsistent.

Development and Validation of a New Patient-Reported Outcome Measure in the Arabic Language for Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis in Saudi Arabia.

Purpose: In Western countries, several patient-reported outcomes (PROs) measures have been developed and validated for knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients. While few PROs have been adopted for these patients in Saudi Arabia, which do not reflect all aspects of the Saudi socio-cultural context. Given this shortcoming, this study aimed to develop a new PRO measure in Arabic that covers all concepts related to health, function, and participation encompassing environmental and personal factors.

Hospital Preparedness, Resilience, and Psychological Burden Among Clinical Nurses in Addressing the COVID-19 Crisis in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In the continuous effort to minimize the devastating effects of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to curb the spread of the disease, hospital preparedness and resilience play significant roles in the psychological well-being of clinical nurses given that their work demands immediate action to adapt and adjust to stressors. Thus, this study investigates the hospital preparedness, psychological burden, and resilience of clinical nurses in addressing COVID-19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A total of 281 clinical nurses participated in the survey from April 2020 to June 2020.

The effect of a multicomponent exercise programme onelderly adults' risk of falling in nursing homes: A systematic review.

Objective: To determine the effect of a multi-component exercise programme on elderly adults' risk of falling in nursing homes.

Methods: A computerised search of published randomised controlled trials in the English language was performed using PubMed, Cochrane Library, the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), and the Institute for Scientific Information up to December 2017. We included highquality articles that reported a score of ≥5 on the Physiotherapy Evidence Databasescale which compared multicomponent exercise with a single exercise programme in nursing homes, with the risk of falling as an outcome, among participants aged ≥65 years.

Knee pain and health-related quality of life among older patients with different knee osteoarthritis severity in Saudi Arabia.

Objective: There is a lack of knowledge about health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Saudi patients with musculoskeletal impairment, particularly among older adult populations. Thus, the current research aimed to determine the association of knee osteoarthritis (OA) severity with knee pain (KP) and HRQoL among older patients in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Methods: In a multicenter cross-sectional study, we recruited 209 consecutive males and females aged ≥55 years with radiographically diagnosed knee OA from five hospitals across Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
