Objective: To determine if the lung ultrasound score (LUS) is predictive of successful continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) discontinuation in preterm neonates born <32 weeks' gestation with history of respiratory distress syndrome.
Study Design: Retrospective study of preterm infants requiring CPAP. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression performed to formulate a predictive score using clinical variables with and without LUS.

Severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (sBPD) requiring invasive mechanical ventilation is a heterogeneous disease process that contributes to morbidity and mortality in infants. As the most common lung disease of prematurity, sBPD has a multitude of overlapping cardiac, airway, pulmonary vascular, and infectious phenotypic presentations that progress through four different phases of care. Premature infants with sBPD are at a high risk of acute decompensation and subsequent cardiopulmonary arrest.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a common inherited neurological disorder that can lead to the development of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs), a highly aggressive form of sarcoma. Current treatment options for MPNSTs are limited, with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates. This study aims to explore the potential of targeting the Galectin-1 (Gal-1) and Ras interaction as a novel therapeutic strategy for MPNSTs.

Background: The International Neuroblastoma Risk Group (INRG) classifier utilizes a staging system based on pretreatment imaging criteria in which image-defined risk factors (IDRFs) are used to evaluate the extent of locoregional disease. Children's Oncology Group (COG) study ANBL0531 prospectively examined institutional determination of IDRF status and compared that to a standardized central review.
Methods: Between 9/2009-6/2011, patients with intermediate-risk neuroblastoma were enrolled on ANBL0531 and had IDRF assessment at treating institutions.

Honoring a child's legacy is an essential aspect of meaning-making for bereaved parents, yet little is known about storytelling as a mechanism. Through narrative analysis of 19 bereaved parent interviews focused on legacy, we examined the role of storytelling in creating and sustaining legacy. Most participants (89%) told stories centered around the child's impact and parent's coping, including the child's character and interpersonal relationships during and after their lifetime as well as how the child's legacy influenced parents' grief experiences.
