Brain tumors can have far-reaching impacts on functional networks. Language processing is typically lateralized to the left hemisphere, but also involves the right hemisphere and cerebellum. This resting-state functional MRI study investigated the proximal and distal effects of left-hemispheric brain tumors on language network connectivity in the ipsilesional and contralesional hemispheres.

Background: Chronic renal dysfunction (CRD), as predominantly related to calcineurin-inhibitor (CNI) nephrotoxicity, is associated with increased morbidity and mortality after lung transplantation (LTx). Basiliximab (BSX), a recombinant chimeric monoclonal antibody against CD25 on activated T-lymphocytes, although often employed as an "induction immunosuppression" after solid organ transplantation, may further allow for reduction in CNI exposure with monthly administration and amelioration of CRD.

There are significant controversies regarding tracheostomy in patients with COVID-19 related to timing, location of procedure, and technique. In this narrative review, we explore the recent literature, publicly available guidelines, protocols from different institutions, and clinical reports to provide critical insights on how to deliver the most benefit to our patients while safeguarding the health care force.

Why are epilepsy mortality rates rising in the United States? A population-based multiple cause-of-death study.

Introduction: Epilepsy mortality rates are rising. It is unknown whether rates are rising due to an increase in epilepsy prevalence, changes in epilepsy causes of death, increase in the lethality or epilepsy or failures of treatment. To address these questions, we compare epilepsy mortality rates in the USA with all-cause and all-neurological mortality for the years 1999 to 2017.
