Unlabelled: Grip strength measurement, as a surrogate of sarcopenia diagnosis, effectively predicts secondary fracture risk in distal radius fracture patients. This simple tool enhances clinical practice by identifying high-risk patients for targeted interventions, potentially preventing or reversing functional decline and recurrent fractures.
Purpose: To evaluate grip strength and hand muscle cross-sectional area as predictors of secondary fracture risk in patients with a history of distal radius fracture (DRF), serving as surrogates of the diagnosis of sarcopenia.

Purpose: Many standardized outcome measures exist to measure recovery after surgical fixation of distal radius fractures, however, choosing the optimal instrument is difficult. We evaluated responsiveness, ceiling/floor effects, and criterion validity over multiple time intervals across a 2-year follow-up period for six commonly used instruments.
Methods: A total of 259 patients who received open reduction and internal fixation for distal radius fractures between 2012 and 2015 were recruited.

Purpose: Distal radius fractures are associated with a high incidence of triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears. This study aims to evaluate the status of TFCC after the healing of distal radius fractures, and its clinical significance.
Methods: Wrist arthroscopies were performed on 43 distal radius fractures, with an average age of 54 years old.

Purpose: To report the outcome after minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) through the deltoid-splitting approach for proximal humeral fractures.
Methods: 10 men and 30 women aged 37 to 88 years underwent MIPO through the deltoid-splitting approach using the Proximal Humerus Internal Locking System or the Locking Proximal Humerus Plate for 2-part (n=18), 3-part (n=20), and 4-part (n=2) proximal humeral fractures. The rehabilitation protocol was standardised.

[Purpose] To explore the changes in heart-rate variability (HRV) of survivors of nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) before, during, and after a Tai Chi (TC) Qigong exercise. [Subjects and Methods] Eleven survivors of NPC participated voluntarily in the study. The heart rate of each participant was measured continuously for 1 minute before the TC Qigong intervention, during the 5-minute TC Qigong intervention, and for 1 minute after the intervention, using a Polar heart-rate monitor.

Objectives. To (1) compare the bone strength, lower limb muscular strength, functional balance performance, and balance self-efficacy between Ving Tsun (VT) martial art practitioners and nonpractitioners and (2) identify the associations between lower limb muscular strength, functional balance performance, and balance self-efficacy among the VT-trained participants. Methods.

Background: Conservative treatment for osteoarthritis often involves educating the patient in methods of decreasing the load transmitted through the diseased joint. The use of a cane is one such method and the correct placement of the cane with respect to an abnormal knee joint is crucial. The purpose of this study was to compare effects on knee moments of force of contralateral versus ipsilateral cane usage in female subjects with osteoarthritic knees.

The prognosis and speed of peripheral nerve recovery depend very much on the level of injury, severity of injury, the surgical intervention and the subsequent rehabilitative process. Many high level injuries may take years or months for the affected peripheral nerve to recover. Prolonged muscle imbalance causes joint contractures and over-stretching of denervated muscles.

Objective: We measured the surface electromyographic activities of vastus medialis obliquus and vastus lateralis in 16 subjects with patellofemoral joint pain syndrome.
Design: Each subject performed bilateral static knee extension exercises at 60% of his or her maximal voluntary effort under different combinations of hip rotation (30 degrees of medial rotation, neutral, 45 degrees of lateral rotation) and knee flexion (20 and 40 degrees) in a standing position. The ratio of surface-integrated electromyographic signals of vastus medialis obliquus over vastus lateralis was calculated for each of the six conditions.
