Background: Detecting programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression based on immunohistochemical (IHC) staining is an important guide for the treatment of lung cancer with immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, this method has problems such as high staining costs, tumor heterogeneity, and subjective differences among pathologists. Therefore, the application of deep learning models to segment and quantitatively predict PD-L1 expression in digital sections of Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stained lung squamous cell carcinoma is of great significance.

Glucocorticoids (GCs) are the most prescribed anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs. However, their use is often limited by substantial side effects, such as GC-induced osteoporosis (GIO) with the underlying mechanisms still not fully understood. In this study, we identify Tau as a low-affinity binding receptor for GCs that plays a crucial role in GIO.

Introduction: The triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) arginine-47-histidine (R47H) mutation is a significant risk for Alzheimer's disease (AD) with unclear mechanisms. Previous studies focused on microglial amyloid-β (Aβ) phagocytosis with less attention on the impact of TREM2 mutation on blood monocytes.
Methods: Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) models were used to assess the contribution of blood monocytes carrying TREM2 mutation to AD.

Programmed cell death protein ligand-1 (PD-L1) and major histocompatibility complex I (MHC-I) are key molecules related to tumor immune evasion and resistance to programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/PD-L1 blockade. Here, we demonstrated that the upregulation of all miRNAs in the miR-23a/27a/24 - 2 cluster was correlated with poor survival, immune evasion and PD-1/PD-L1 blockade resistance in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The overexpression of all miRNAs in the miR-23a/27a/24 - 2 cluster upregulated PD-L1 expression by targeting Cbl proto-oncogene B (CBLB) and downregulated MHC-I expression by increasing the level of eukaryotic initiation factor 3B (eIF3B) via the targeting of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF).

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are important environmental carcinogens that can cause lung cancer. However, the underlying epigenetic mechanism during PAHs-induced lung carcinogenesis has remained largely unknown. Previously, we screened some novel epigenetic regulatory genes during 3-methylcholanthrene (3-MCA)-induced lung carcinogenesis, including the potassium inwardly rectifying channel subfamily J member 15 (KCNJ15) gene.

Chromatin remodeling plays a pivotal role in the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but the precise mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we elucidated the critical function of staphylococcal nuclease and tudor domain-containing 1 (SND1) in modulating chromatin dynamics, thereby driving ESCC progression in both in vitro and in vivo models. Our data revealed that SND1 was markedly overexpressed in ESCC cell lines.

Although the surgical treatment of slow transit constipation (STC) has been around for over a century, the choice of surgical method is still controversial. Specifically, the two most widely used operations in the world are total colectomy ileorectostomy (TC-IRA) and subtotal colectomy. Subtotal colectomy offers many methods for anastomosis, including ileocecal and cecorectal anastomoses and so on.
