In paraquat (PQ)‑induced acute lung injury (ALI)/ acute respiratory distress syndrome, PQ disrupts endothelial cell function and vascular integrity, which leads to increased pulmonary leakage. Anthrahydroquinone‑2,6‑disulfonate (AH2QDS) is a reducing agent that attenuates the extent of renal injury and improves survival in PQ‑intoxicated Sprague‑Dawley (SD) rats. The present study aimed to explore the beneficial role of AH2QDS in PQ‑induced ALI and its related mechanisms.

XRCC1 and hOGG1 polymorphisms and endometrial carcinoma: A meta-analysis.

Open Med (Wars)

March 2024

Occupational Physical Examination Outpatient, Haikou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, No. 56 Yehai Avenue, Qiongshan District, Haikou, Hainan, 570203, China.

Endometrial carcinoma's (EC) etiology is complex and involves DNA repair gene polymorphisms like XRCC1-Arg399Gln and hOGG1-Ser326Cys, but their association with the disease is unclear. Following PRISMA, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis, collecting data from four databases. The studies needed to be population-based case-control studies examining the association between the named polymorphisms and EC.

Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF) is believed to promote the malignant process of colorectal cancer (CRC), but the underlying molecular mechanism still needs to be revealed. CRC cells (SW480 and HCT-116) were treated with ETBF strain. Cell proliferation, invasion and, migration were evaluated by cell counting kit 8 assay, EdU assay, colony formation assay, transwell assay, and wound healing assay.

[Interaction of SENP6 with PINK1 Promotes Temozolomide Resistance in Neuroglioma Cells via Inducing the Mitophagy].

Mol Biol (Mosk)

January 2024

Department of Thoracic Surgery, Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, 610031 People's Republic of China.

Temozolomide resistance is a major cause of recurrence and poor prognosis in neuroglioma. Recently, growing evidence has suggested that mitophagy is involved in drug resistance in various tumor types. However, the role and molecular mechanisms of mitophagy in temozolomide resistance in glioma remain unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers analyzed data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and identified 95 APA events impacting COAD outcomes, with 39 linked to patient prognosis through a LASSO Cox regression model.
  • * The findings suggest that APA events may influence tumor progression by affecting immune cells, highlighting potential targets for COAD immunotherapy and enhancing understanding of the tumor immune microenvironment.

Objective: To evaluate the fiber-degradation and endothelialization of a modified poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) atrial septal defect (ASD) occluder for a long time in vivo.

Methods: A total of 57 New Zealand rabbits were selected to establish the vasculature implantation model, which would be used to characterize the mechanical properties and pathological reaction of PLLA filaments (a raw polymer of ASD occluder). In total, 27 Experimental piglets were used to create the ASD model for the catheter implantation of PLLA ASD occluders.

Exosomal circKIAA1797 Regulates Cell Progression and Glycolysis by Targeting miR-4429/PBX3 Pathway in Gastric Cancer.

Biochem Genet

June 2024

Department of Oncology, Danzhou People's Hospital, NO.21-1, Da Tong Road, Nada Town, Danzhou City, Hainan, Province, 571700, China.

In recent years, circular RNAs (circRNAs) are extensively studied in the progression of various types of cancer, while the mechanism of circKIAA1797 is rarely studied in gastric cancer (GC). Hence, this research aimed to investigate the expression of exosomal circKIAA1797 and its biological function in GC cells. Exosomes were extracted from the serum of GC patients and identified by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking analyzer (NTA).

The role and mechanism of Gremlin-1 in osteoarthritis (OA) were expected to be probed in this study. Firstly, an in vitro OA model was constructed by stimulating human chondrocyte cell line CHON-001 with IL-1β. Next, 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were utilized for assessing the effect of IL-1β with different concentrations (5, 10, and 20 ng/mL) on the activity and Gremlin-1 messenger RNA of CHON-001 cells, respectively.
