Objective: Aim: The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of occupational hygiene procedures for microbiological and cytological contents of periodontal pockets.
Patients And Methods: Material and Methods: Cytological and microbiological content of the periodontal pockets before treatment and after professional hygiene procedures including scaling with hand instruments and root cementum polishing have been investigated in patients with periodontitis.
Results: Results: According to obtained data it can be resumed that in periodontitis patients with the depth of pockets 3-5,5 mm before professional hygiene all the pockets contain great number of Cocci, Spirochetes, Candida Albicans, Flagellated rods and Protozoa species.

Objective: Aim: To determine the role of damage to the ultrastructural elements of the periodontal nervous system in the pathogenesis of dystrophic periodontal disease.
Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: The basis of the experimental part of the study was the preparation of ultrathin sections from blocks of gum tissue of white rats, which were prepared using the UMTP-3M device. The study and analysis of biopsy samples was carried out with the help of an electron microscope UEMV-100K.
Objective: The aim: Different gels composed of benzydamine and flavonoids that were developed for treatment of periodontal diseases in the orthodontic patients will be compared regarding their effects on survival of mammalian cells of various tissue origin and their DNA intactness.
Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: Effect of different variants of patented gel composition «Benzidaflaziverdine» including a gel base and «Proteflazid®» containing flavonoids and benzydamine hydrochloride in powder form («T-Sept®») towards survival (MTT) of murine BALB-3T3 fibroblasts, J774.2 macrophages, human HaCaT keratinocytes was studied.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease with a chronic inflammatory process that affects bone metabolism and leading to impaired bone mineral density (BMD). Therefore, the determination of laboratory markers of bone metabolism contributes to a better understanding of the pathogenesis of metabolic bone diseases. The aim of the study - to characterize the bone metabolism parameters in rheumatoid arthritis patients with impaired bone mineral density, to find out their features and diagnostic value.

Materials And Methods: The diagnosis of HPS is established by physical examination, chest X-ray, computed tomography, endoscopic examination with biopsy, and laboratory tests, including histology, baseline laboratory blood, urine and feces tests, determination of ASCA-C and ANCA antibodies using an ELISA. Molecular genetic testing for HPS gene mutations, R702W, G908R, L1007fs and P268S mutations in NOD2 gene, and TaqI variant of the VDR gene were carried out.

Helicobacter pylori-induced oxidative stress in gastric mucosa (GM) is a milieu for the development of chronic gastritis, duodenal peptic ulcer (DPU), gastric cancer, and a number of extragastric diseases. Because our previous study revealed the accumulation of the protein adducts of lipid peroxidation product 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE) in GM, which persists after eradication of H. pylori, the aim of the study was to test whether Amaranth oil supplementation in addition to standard anti-Helicobacter treatment could prevent such accumulation of HNE in GM in H.

Highly purified calf hemodialysate (HPCH) known as Actovegin® or Solcoseryl® is one of the most controversial drugs currently marketed worldwide. It is not registered as drug in some countries and therefore its medical use there is illegal, while in others it is often among the top 10 of the best-selling medications. It could be also found in the list of the "most useless drugs" and was banned for short time by World Anti-Doping Agency as performance enhancer.

The scope of this research was to determine the bioactive composition, antioxidant, binding, and anti-proliferative properties of red sweet paprika growing under artificial light. The amounts of carotenoids, chlorophyll, polyphenols, tannins, and flavonoids in red paprika (RP), cultivated in Korea, before and after light treatments under high pressure sodium (HPS) and lighting emitting plasma (LEP) lamps (RPControl, RPHPS, RPLEP), were analyzed in water (W) and ethanolic extracts (Et). Spectroscopic, radical scavenging assays, fluorescence and cytotoxicity measurements were applied.

Endometriosis is an important medical and social problem as it causes stable pelvic pains, afflicts women of the reproductive age, provokes infertility characterized by poor outcome of treatment. In recent times much attention is paid to the mechanisms of congenital immunity as possible mediators of the development of endometriosis and targets of therapy. The work deals with the investigation of the levels of mRNA TLR2 and TLR4 expression in the tissue of eutopic endometrium in women with endometriosis and infertility in comparison with women afflicted with infertility of a tubular character with the aim to define the role of TLR2 and TLR4 in the development of infertility in case of endometriosis.

Introduction: Sedentary lifestyle is a major risk factor for diabetes, cardiovascular and many other age-related diseases. Heart rate variability (HRV) reflects the function of regulatory systems of internal organs and may sensitively indicate early metabolic disturbances. We hypothesize that quantitative and qualitative changes of HRV in young subjects may reflect early metabolic derangements responsible for further development of clinically significant disease.

Diabetes mellitus type 1 provokes the development of the oxidative stress, accompanied by the increased level of TBA-active products, activation of NO-synthases and increased production of nitric oxide. Activation of glutathione reductase, decrease of the glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutases activity was observed. This shows a specific disturbance in the functioning of the antioxidant defense system and the augmentation in the concentration of one of the major first line reacting cytokin (IL-1beta).
