Purpose: There is controversy as to whether brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) should be performed on all children with growth hormone deficiency (GHD) including those judged to have mild GHD. This study was aimed to determine the frequency of pituitary or intracranial abnormalities in pediatric GHD and to identify risk factors that may predict pituitary or intracranial abnormalities.
Methods: A total of 95 pediatric GHD patients were included.

During nasal polyp (NP) development, activated T cells differentiate into T helper (Th) 1, Th2, and Th17 cells. Additionally, regulatory T cells (Tregs) that have an immune suppressive function are involved in the pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with NP (CRSwNP). Tregs can act as effector cells that produce inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-17A.

A 54-year-old man presented with constipation with a six-month duration and a 5 kg weight loss over 10 months. He had undergone a subtotal gastrectomy and chemotherapy for advanced gastric cancer 13 years earlier. A colonoscopy revealed a firm, circular, in-growing mass in the rectum.

Background: Despite their ability to regenerate as well as autografts, the use of nerve allografts is limited by the need for immunosuppression and the risk of disease transmission. Further, decellularized allografts lacking Schwann cells limit axonal regeneration in long nerve defects. This study evaluated sciatic nerve regeneration in rats implanted with cold- or cryopreserved allografts, and examined the effects of FK506, an immunosuppressant that targets calcineurin function, on motor recovery.

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is characterized by prolonged inflammation of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa lasting over 12 weeks. CRS is divided into two main types based on the presence of nasal polyps: CRS without nasal polyps and CRS with nasal polyps. The condition is further classified into endotypes based on type 1, type 2, and type 3 inflammatory signatures, with differences in terms of disease severity, prognosis, and treatment response.

Intermittent negative blood cultures, known as the skip phenomenon (SP), frequently occur in patients with bacteremia (SAB), yet the clinical implications of SP in persistent SAB are not well understood. In this retrospective cohort study conducted at four university hospitals, SP was observed in 25 (11.3%) of 221 patients with persistent SAB.

Background And Aim: The impact of different anti-thrombotic agents on patients with suspected small bowel bleeding (SSBB) who underwent balloon-assisted enteroscopy (DAE) is unclear. We aimed to examine the clinical effects and predictive factors of DAE based on the thromboembolic agents used.
Methods: We enrolled 399 patients with SSBB from a web-based DAE registry across 30 medical centers in South Korea.

This study reports a rare case of concurrent invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) of the breast and ALK-negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) detected during sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB). A 55-year-old female underwent breast cancer surgery following abnormal breast screening results, revealing ILC histologically. Unexpectedly, SLNB identified ALCL, later confirmed on pathology.

Although glycopeptides remain the preferred treatment for methicillin-resistant (MRSA) bacteremia, the treatment of persistent MRSA bacteremia has been challenging. We investigated real-world treatment strategies for persistent MRSA bacteremia, with a specific emphasis on the use of antimicrobial agents and the frequency of changes during the treatment course. We retrospectively identified patients with persistent MRSA bacteremia in four university-affiliated hospitals between 2017 and 2021.

Acupuncture, a well-established traditional medical practice in East Asia, is rarely associated with complications associated with broken needles. A 45-year-old woman had received acupuncture treatment 3 months before presentation to relieve back pain and complained of persistent epigastric pain. Radiological studies revealed chronic cholecystitis with stones and a broken acupuncture needle in the pancreatic head.

Objective: There is insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of treating allergic rhinitis with a patch laser affix to the skin as opposed to direct intranasal irradiation of the nasal mucosa. We aimed to evaluate the effect of the microneedle patch laser with multiple wavelengths in an allergic rhinitis (AR) mouse model and its underlying mechanism.
Methods: The microneedle patch laser was attached to the skin above the mouse's nasal cavity, transmitting light to the nasal mucosa.

Background: Post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP) is the most common complication of ERCP, with limited studies comparing combined prophylactic measures and their efficacy relative to individual patient risk profiles. This study aims to perform an individual patient data meta-analysis (IPDMA) to evaluate the contribution of patient and ERCP-related risk factors to PEP development and to identify the best prophylaxis strategies according to the patient's risk profile.
Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane databases until November 2022 for randomized controlled PEP prophylaxis trials.

Backgroud: Internal fixation has been established as a treatment of choice in relatively young patients with femoral neck fractures. Due to the characteristics of femoral neck anatomy and blood supply, complications such as malunion, nonunion, avascular necrosis, and femoral neck shortening can occur after internal fixation of femoral neck fractures. Unlike other complications such as avascular necrosis or nonunion, femoral neck shortening has not been relatively well studied.
