Background: Gastric cancer (GC) poses a major global health challenge because of its unfavorable prognosis. Elevated telomerase activity has been linked to the rapid growth and invasiveness of GC tumors. Investigating the expression profiles of telomerase could improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying telomere-related GC advancement and its applicability as potential targets for diverse therapeutic strategies for GC.

Background: In recent years, the incidence of adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG) has been rapidly increasing globally. Despite advances in the diagnosis and treatment of AEG, the overall prognosis for AEG patients remains concerning. Therefore, analyzing prognostic factors for AEG patients of Siewert type II and constructing a prognostic model for AEG patients is important.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents the major type of primary liver cancers, which is a most prevalent malignancy, as well as seriously threatens people's life and health. MiR-128-2 was reported to be associated with several human cancers, and is participated in the pathogenesis and development of cancers. Our research was performed to explore the expression profile and diagnostic significance of miR-128-2 in HCC.

To date, the benefit of intravenous thrombolysis is confined to within 4.5 h of onset for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) without advanced neuroimaging selection. The current trial aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of intravenous tenecteplase (TNK) plus Dl-3-n-Butylphthalide (NBP) in AIS within 4.

To verify the reliability and validity of the frailty assessment scale for elderly patients with inguinal hernia and to evaluate the value of its clinical application. A convenience sampling method was used to collect 129 geriatric patients who underwent inguinal hernia surgery from January 2018 to January 2023 in nine hospitals in Liaoning Province. There were 120 males and 9 females, of whom 89 patients were 60 to <75 years old, 33 patients were 75 to <85 years old and 7 patients were ≥85 years old.

Importance: Intravenous thrombolysis is increasingly used in patients with minor stroke, but its benefit in patients with minor nondisabling stroke is unknown.

Objective: To investigate whether dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is noninferior to intravenous thrombolysis among patients with minor nondisabling acute ischemic stroke.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter, open-label, blinded end point, noninferiority randomized clinical trial included 760 patients with acute minor nondisabling stroke (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale [NIHSS] score ≤5, with ≤1 point on the NIHSS in several key single-item scores; scale range, 0-42).

We aim to explore the effect of head-down position (HDP), initiated within 24 hours of onset, in moderate anterior circulation stroke patients with probable large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) etiology. This investigator-initiated, multi-center trial prospective, randomized, open-label, blinded-endpoint, multi-center and phase-2 trial was conducted in China and completed in 2021. Eligible patients were randomly assigned (1:1) into the HDP group receiving -20° Trendelenburg, or control group receiving standard care according to national guideline.

Background: Programmed cell death protein-1/programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-1/PD-L1) inhibitors works by reactivating immune cells. Considering the accessibility of noninvasive liquid biopsies, it is advisable to employ peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets to predict immunotherapy outcomes.

Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 87 patients with available baseline circulating lymphocyte subset data who received first-line PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors at Peking Union Medical College Hospital between May 2018 and April 2022.

Importance: Preclinical and clinical studies have suggested a neuroprotective effect of remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), which involves repeated occlusion/release cycles on bilateral upper limb arteries; however, robust evidence in patients with ischemic stroke is lacking.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of RIC for acute moderate ischemic stroke.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter, open-label, blinded-end point, randomized clinical trial including 1893 patients with acute moderate ischemic stroke was conducted at 55 hospitals in China from December 26, 2018, through January 19, 2021, and the date of final follow-up was April 19, 2021.

Background: Coronary atherosclerosis (AS) is characterized by the formation of plaque in the vessel wall. The structural and functional changes of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) can promote plaque formation and induce plaque instability.

Objective: To investigate the functions and mechanism of miR-222-5p in VSMCs under the treatment of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL).

Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy is considered beneficial in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with intracranial artery stenosis (ICAS), with more bleeding events. Ginkgolide is shown to reduce platelet activation after infarction, which might be of benefit in AIS. We aimed to explore the effect of Ginkgolide in AIS patients with ICAS.

Objective: To observe the effects of thalidomide on 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid- (TNBS-) induced experimental colitis in rats and to explore the possible mechanism of thalidomide in the treatment of CD.

Methods: Forty SD rats were randomly assigned into a healthy control group and TNBS-induced colitis groups, including an untreated TNBS-induced colitis group, a low-dose thalidomide group, and a high-dose thalidomide group, with 10 rats in each. After 7 days, the disease activity index (DAI), colon macroscopic damage index (CMDI), and tissue damage index (TDI) were evaluated.

To explore the characteristics of localization and prognostic implication of Ezrin expression in HCC, 92 cases of HCC meeting strict follow-up criteria were selected for immunohistochemical staining of Ezrin protein. Correlations between Ezrin expression and clinicopathological features of HCC were evaluated using Chi-square tests, survival rates were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and the relationship between prognostic factors and patient overallsurvival was analyzed using Cox proportional hazard analysis. In results, Ezrin protein was mainly expressed in the inner side of the cell membrane of the adjacent non tumor tissues, and diffusely expressed in cytoplasm of HCC tissues.
