Background: Determining the distal cantilever length in All-on-Four (All-on-4) implant-supported prostheses is a major factor in the long-term success of these prostheses. The difference in mechanical properties of materials used in the fabrication of these prostheses, such as polyether ether ketone (PEEK), may have an impact on the determination of the cantilever length that best distributes stress.

Aim: To study the distribution of stress in All-on-4 mandibular prostheses in the bone, implants, and framework according to difference cantilever length in PEEK prosthetic framework using three-dimensional finite element analysis.

Claims of industrially induced seismicity vary from indisputable to unpersuasive and yet the veracity of industrial induction is vital for regulatory and operational practice. Assessment schemes have been developed in response to this need. We report here an initial assessment of the reliability of all globally known cases of proposed human-induced earthquakes and invite specialists on particular cases to refine these results.

Objectives This study aimed to compare the shear bond strength of three resin cements (light-cured resin cement, pre-heated composite resin, and dual-cured self-adhesive resin cement) when bonding to lithium disilicate discs. Materials and methods Thirty-six discs made of lithium disilicate were fabricated and etched with 9.5% (HF), and 36 human premolars were collected and immersed in the acrylic molds, then randomly divided into three equal groups (n = 12): Group 1: light-cured resin cement, Group 2: pre-heated resin composite, and Group 3: dual-cured resin cement.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate pulp regeneration by comparing the application of native chitosan-based scaffolds with enzymatically modified chitosan-based scaffolds in mature teeth with apical lesions, using clinical and radiographic assessments.

Methods: The eligibility criteria for this study were participants aged between 15-45 years, free from systemic diseases and with necrotic mature single-rooted teeth with periapical lesions. The teeth were equally and randomly allocated into three groups (1: 1: 1 allocation): Group A received treatment with a Blood Clot (BC) scaffold; Group B with a combination of Native Chitosan and Blood Clot (NCS+BC) scaffold; and Group C with Enzymatically-Modified Chitosan and Blood Clot (EMCS+BC) scaffold.

Bickerstaff Brainstem Encephalitis (BBE) is a rare immunologic condition characterized by CNS inflammation, presenting with ataxia, external ophthalmoplegia, altered consciousness, and quadriplegia. A 25-year-old male with no significant medical history exhibited symptoms of blurred vision, diplopia, facial numbness, and imbalance following a respiratory infection. Brain MRI revealed hyperintense lesions in the cerebral peduncle and pons on T2-weighted/FLAIR sequences but not on T1-weighted sequences, indicative of demyelination.

Radiotherapy (RT) has been shown to be a cornerstone of both palliative and curative tumor care. RT has generally been reported to be sharply limited by ionizing radiation (IR)-induced toxicity, thereby constraining the control effect of RT on tumor growth. FLASH-RT is the delivery of ultra-high dose rate (UHDR) several orders of magnitude higher than what is presently used in conventional RT (CONV-RT).

Novel Otolaryngological and Radiological Manifestations in GAPO Syndrome.

Ear Nose Throat J

December 2024

Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Al Mouwasat University Hospital, Damascus University, Damascus, Syria.

GAPO syndrome is an exceptionally-rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by growth retardation, alopecia, pseudoanodontia, and optic abnormalities, with fewer than 60 cases reported globally. We present the first documented case in Syria, highlighting novel otolaryngological and radiological findings that expand the clinical spectrum of this syndrome. A 27-year-old male presented with chronic right-sided otalgia, unilateral conductive hearing loss, and persistent sinonasal symptoms.

Rhinolith Within a Giant Concha Bullosa: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Ear Nose Throat J

December 2024

Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Al Mouwasat University Hospital, Damascus University, Damascus, Syria.

Concha bullosa is a common anatomical variation involving pneumatization of the middle turbinate. Although usually asymptomatic, a large concha bullosa can obstruct nasal airflow and cause related symptoms. Rhinoliths, calcified formations typically found in the inferior meatus, rarely appear within concha bullosa.

Introduction And Significance: Thymic cysts are rare, located in the middle mediastinum, and are often asymptomatic and discovered incidentally. When they are symptomatic, the symptoms are often due to the effect of the mass, and complete surgical excision is preferred to avoid the risk of complications following their persistence.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a patient who had recurrent dyspnea and was later diagnosed with a cystic formation in the middle mediastinum by radiological investigations and successfully treated through a neck incision and completely resected.

Article Synopsis
  • Ewing's sarcoma is an aggressive and rare tumor found in the mediastinum, often presenting without distinctive signs, making diagnosis challenging; histological examination is key for confirmation.
  • A case of a child with respiratory distress illustrates misdiagnosis and improper treatment, but upon referral, a large mediastinal mass was identified, leading to successful surgical removal.
  • The case underscores the importance of considering Ewing's sarcoma in differential diagnoses of mediastinal lesions and highlights the need for accurate diagnostic methods, such as fine-needle aspiration, before surgical procedures.

This study rigorously examines the complex interplay between financial technology (Fintech), financial inclusion, and their collective effects on economic growth in developing nations. Employing a robust panel regression methodology enhanced by Panel-Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE) and Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) techniques, this research analyzes an extensive dataset comprising 108 countries categorized into low, lower-middle, and upper-middle income levels across four pivotal years (2011, 2014, 2017, and 2021). Our analysis focuses on two key dimensions of Fintech-specifically, the adoption of digital payments and e-commerce via mobile technologies-and traditional financial access indicators, including the density of ATMs, bank branches, and active banking accounts.

Dental anxiety usually stands in the way of obtaining adequate dental treatment, and the dental setting and team are considered factors that may affect dental anxiety. Many cross-sectional studies have indicated that dentally anxious children prefer their dentist to wear friendly attire rather than a conventional white coat, but no clinical trial has detected the effect of wearing a child's friendly attire on anxiety levels among young patients. A total of 120 children were enrolled in this study and divided into four groups in which the dentists wore either friendly attire or white coat in the reception and treatment areas.
