Department of Biotechnology, School of Biological Engineering, Dalian Polytechnic University, Dalian 116034, Liaoning Province, P. R. China; Dalian Jinshiwan Laboratory, Dalian, China. Electronic address:

A number of studies have been demonstrated that arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX-5) plays a role in regulating a range of physiological and pathological processes through the catalysis of leukotriene formation from arachidonic acid (ARA). The coding sequence of ALOX-5 from Apostichopus japonicus (Aj-ALOX-5) was successfully amplified, resulting in a 2028 bp ORF sequence that encodes 674 amino acids. A comparison of the amino acid sequence with those of other 5-lipoxygenases revealed that Aj-ALOX-5 has the N-terminal "PLAT domain" and C-terminal "lipoxygenase structural domain" characteristic of this enzyme family.

Sci Total Environ

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Pollution Ecology and Environmental Engineering, Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenyang 110016, China.

Despite many studies on the environmental cycling of As, Fe, and S, sulfide (S(-II))-induced hydrous ferric arsenate (HFA) transformation remains to be elucidated. Herein, we investigated the anaerobic reaction of HFA with S(-II) at three environmental concentrations (1, 10, and 50 mM) at pH 48. Changes in solid-phase As, Fe, and S speciation were investigated by XRD, FTIR, Raman, XPS, synchrotron XANES, SEM, and TEM.

Label-Guided relation prototype generation for Continual Relation Extraction.

PeerJ Comput Sci

October 2024

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor, Maribor, Slovenia.

Continual relation extraction (CRE) aims to extract relations towards the continuous and iterative arrival of new data. To address the problem of catastrophic forgetting, some existing research endeavors have focused on exploring memory replay methods by storing typical historical learned instances or embedding all observed relations as prototypes by averaging the hidden representation of samples and replaying them in the subsequent training process. However, this prototype generation method overlooks the rich semantic information within the label namespace and are also constrained by memory size, resulting in inadequate descriptions of relation semantics by relation prototypes.

The significance of HO as a marker of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress in living organisms has spurred growing interest in its roles in inflammation and disease progression. In this report, a ratiometric time-gated luminescence (RTGL) probe is proposed based on mixed lanthanide complexes, ER-BATTA-Tb/Eu, for imaging the HO generation both in vitro and in vivo. Upon exposure to HO, the probe undergoes cleavage of the benzyl boric acid group, releasing hydroxyl (─OH) groups, which significantly reduces the emission of the Eu complex while slightly increasing the emission of the Tb complex.
