Background: Prior studies suggest prevalence of heart failure (HF) has remained steady or progressively decreased over past 30 years in the general population. Whether this favourable trend occurred in adolescents and young adults aged 10-24 years has yet to be elucidated. We aim to identify the trends in the burden of HF in this young population from 1990 to 2021 to inform areas for targeted intervention and prevention efforts.

Background: Meniscus extrusion occurs in most elderly individuals and most patients after meniscus allograft transplantation. The risk factors and correlative factors of meniscus extrusion have been extensively studied. However, for using tendon autograft for meniscus reconstruction, both graft type and surgical method are different from those in previous studies on meniscus extrusion.

A nomogram of inflammatory indexes for preoperatively predicting the risk of lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer.

Purpose: To investigate the independent risk factors associated with the development of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), focusing on preoperative systemic inflammatory indicators, and to construct a corresponding risk predictive model.

Materials And Methods: The clinical data of 241 patients with CRC who underwent surgery after the first diagnosis between January 2012 and December 2017 at our hospital were reviewed. A best logistic regression model was constructed by Lasso regression for multivariate analysis, from which a Nomogram was derived.

Biomechanical properties analysis of posterior lumbar interbody fusion with transpedicular oblique screw fixation.

Objective: An alternative to conventional posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) is a PLIF with transpedicular oblique screw fixation system. An assessment of new fixation system's viability and efficacy is conducted through a comparison of its biomechanical properties with those of conventional PLIF.

Method: A comprehensive finite element model (FEM) of the lumbar regions L1-L5 was developed and the surgical segment L3-L4 was chosen to comprise the surgical models of both traditional PLIF and new PLIF.

Purpose: Although there is a growing emphasis on supportive care for cancer patients, those with colorectal cancer (CRC) who have ostomies require special attention in terms of their physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs. However, there has been a lack of significant progress in meeting the supportive care needs of CRC survivors with ostomies. To bridge this gap, we conducted a prospective longitudinal study to track the trends in supportive care needs among CRC survivors with ostomies and identify any predictors over 6-month period.

AQP4-IgG is an autoantibody associated with neuromyelitis optica spectroscopic disorder (NMOSD), a central nervous system inflammatory disease that requires early diagnosis and treatment. We designed two fusion proteins, AQP4-DARPin1 and AQP4-DARPin2, comprising the complete antigenic epitopes of aquaporin-4 (AQP4) and the constant region of the scaffold protein DARPin. These fusion proteins were expressed and purified from and coated on microplates to develop an efficient method for detecting AQP4-IgG.

Neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disease that mainly manifests as dementia, muscle weakness, sensory disturbances, and autonomic nervous dysfunction. Herein, we report a 68-year-old Chinese woman who was hospitalized because of resting tremor and bradykinesia that had been present for 7 years. Five years prior, bradykinesia and hypermyotonia had become apparent.
