Lipid metabolic reprogramming is considered one of the most prominent metabolic abnormalities in cancer, and fatty acid metabolism is a key aspect of lipid metabolism. Recent studies have shown that fatty acid metabolism and its related lipid metabolic pathways play important roles in the malignant progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). NPC cells adapt to harsh environments by enhancing biological processes such as fatty acid metabolism, uptake, production, and oxidation, thereby accelerating their growth.

The tumor microenvironment (TME) is critical for cancer initiation, growth, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance. The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a significant tumor component that serves various functions, including mechanical support, TME regulation, and signal molecule generation. The quantity and cross-linking status of ECM components are crucial factors in tumor development, as they determine tissue stiffness and the interaction between stiff TME and cancer cells, resulting in aberrant mechanotransduction, proliferation, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, immune evasion, and treatment resistance.

Pralsetinib demonstrated impressive improvement of survival in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harbored de novo RET fusion. However, the efficacy in patients with acquired RET fusion after resistance to EGFR/ALK-TKIs has only been reported on a case-by-case basis, and the strategy for overcoming the acquired RET fusion has not been fully investigated. This multicenter, real-world analysis enrolled 32 patients with unresectable NSCLC harbored acquired RET fusion after resistance to EGFR/ALK-TKIs in 23 centers across China from July 1, 2018 to Nov 23, 2022.

As an important element of the human body, iron participates in numerous physiological and biochemical reactions. In the past decade, ferroptosis (a form of iron-dependent regulated cell death) has been reported to contribute to the pathogenesis and progression of various diseases. The stability of iron in cardiomyocytes is crucial for the maintenance of normal physiological cardiac activity.

Lung cancer, particularly adenocarcinoma, ranks high in morbidity and mortality rates worldwide, with a relatively low five-year survival rate. To achieve precise prognostic assessment and clinical intervention for patients, thereby enhancing their survival prospects, there is an urgent need for more accurate stratification schemes. Currently, the TNM staging system is predominantly used in clinical practice for prognostic evaluation, but its accuracy is constrained by the reliance on physician experience.

Department of Oncology, The Key Laboratory of Biomarker High Throughput Screening and Target Translation of Breast and Gastrointestinal Tumor, Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University, No. 6 Jiefang Street, Dalian, Liaoning, 110006, China. Electronic address:

Gold nanorods (GNRs) mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) represents a promising technique for cancer treatment, utilizing GNRs in conjunction with near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation to convert energy into heat. In the present study, we employed PTT to induce apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells and investigated its underlying mechanisms through quantitative proteomics analysis. Initially, we established that temperatures ranging from 47 to 51°C significantly enhance cellular apoptosis without inducing necrosis.

Corticosteroid signaling plays a critical role in modulating the neural systems underlying reward and addiction, but the specific contributions of glucocorticoid receptors (GRs) and mineralocorticoid receptors (MRs) in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) to opioid reward and dopaminergic plasticity remain unclear. Here, we investigated the effects of intra-mPFC injection of corticosteroid receptor ligand (corticosterone; CORT), glucocorticoid receptor antagonist (RU38486; RU), and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (spironolactone; SP) on morphine-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) and dopamine transporter (DAT) expression in the mPFC. Adult male Wistar rats received intra-mPFC injections of CORT, RU, SP, or their respective vehicles prior to morphine CPP conditioning.

Dalian Medical University, Dalian, Liaoning, China; Department of Child Health, Dalian Municipal Women and Children's Medical Center (Group), Dalian, Liaoning, China. Electronic address:

Introduction: Recent studies have shown a close relationship between attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and allergic diseases in children. Regrettably, few studies have investigated the effect of comorbid allergies on ADHD symptoms and sleep, in particular, it is unclear whether comorbid allergic conditions further exacerbate sleep problems in children with ADHD.

Objective: To investigate the effect of comorbid allergic on symptoms and sleep in children with ADHD.

The aging population has led to a global issue of osteoarthritis (OA), which not only impacts the quality of life for patients but also poses a significant economic burden on society. While biotherapy offers hope for OA treatment, currently available treatments are unable to delay or prevent the onset or progression of OA. Recent studies have shown that as nanoscale bioactive substances that mediate cell communication, exosomes from stem cell sources have led to some breakthroughs in the treatment of OA and have important clinical significance.

Recent advances in nanotherapy-based treatment of epilepsy.

Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces

January 2025

General Hospital of Northern Theater Command, Liaoning 110016, China. Electronic address:

Epilepsy is a complex neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures affecting millions of people worldwide. Despite advances in drug therapy, a significant proportion of patients remain resistant to conventional antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) due to challenges such as impermeability of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), multidrug resistance, and multifaceted epileptogenesis. Nanotechnology offers promising strategies to overcome these barriers by enhancing drug delivery across the BBB, improving target specificity and minimizing systemic side effects.

In this work, a multicomponent polymerization (MCP) approach involving bipyrroles, sulfonyl azides, and diynes was developed to afford a library of poly(bipyrrole-sulfonylimide)s (PPSIs) in high yields and molecular weights, which were further modified to form unique sulfur dioxide (SO) generators. Bipyrroles served as carbon-based nucleophiles to undergo Cu-catalyzed C-C coupling during the MCP. Upon post-MCP modification by transforming the bipyrrole unit to boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and the sulfonylimide moiety to sulfonamide, poly(BODIPY-sulfonamide)s (PBSAs) were obtained as potent anticancer therapeutic agents.
