Unlabelled: The dual-energy spectral CT (DEsCT) employs material decomposition (MD) technology, opening up novel avenues for the opportunistic assessment of bone status. Radiomics, a powerful tool for elucidating the structural and textural characteristics of bone, aids in the detection of mineral loss. Therefore, this study aims to compare the efficacy of bone status assessment using both bone density measurements and radiomics models derived from MD images and to further explore the clinical value of radiomics models.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent form of liver tumor, characterized by restricted therapeutic options and typically low long-term survival rates. Recently, immunotherapy has revolutionized HCC treatment, making the tumor microenvironment (TME) a research focus. Radiomics is increasingly crucial in HCC clinical decisions, offering advanced tools for TME characterization and prognosis assessment.

Sodium arsenite (NaAsO), the most common form of inorganic arsenic prevalent in the environment, has been closely linked to islet β-cell dysfunction, a critical pathological hallmark of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Even though apoptosis plays a pivotal role in arsenic-induced islet β-cell dysfunction, the explicit underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we have identified that the SET-Rac1 signaling pathway is instrumental in the apoptosis and dysfunction of islet β-cells induced by NaAsO.

Beer contains a variety of bioactive ingredients and trace elements that can regulate bodily functions, and moderate consumption of beer can enhance immune responses. This study aimed to investigate the potential benefits of moderate consumption of alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer on the gut microbiome, immunity, and intestinal barrier function in immunosuppressed BALB/c mice induced by cyclophosphamide (CTX). Model mice with CTX-induced immunosuppression were administered alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer or galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) for 28 consecutive days.

Background: Previous studies suggest that frailty increases the risk of mortality, but the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause mortality in Chinese community-dwelling older adults remains understudied. Our aim was to explore the effect of frailty on cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in older adults based on a large-scale prospective survey of community-dwelling older adults in China.
Methods: We utilized the 2014-2018 cohort of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey and constructed a frailty index (FI) to assess frailty status.
Background: Alport syndrome (AS) is a multifaceted condition that primarily affects the basement membranes of the kidneys, ears, and eyes. AS is considered the second most common cause of hereditary renal failure, exhibiting varied clinical manifestations across different lifespans. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical features and genetic profile of AS and to elucidate the genotype-phenotype correlation of AS.

Background: Early neurological deterioration (END) is a critical determinant influencing the short-term prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients and is associated with increased mortality rates among hospitalized individuals. AIS frequently coexists with coronary heart disease (CHD), complicating treatment and leading to more severe symptoms and worse outcomes. Shared risk factors between CHD and AIS, especially elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), contribute to atherosclerosis and inflammation, which worsen brain tissue damage.

Pulpotomy, which belongs to vital pulp therapy, has become a strategy for managing pulpitis in recent decades. This minimally invasive treatment reflects the recognition of preserving healthy dental pulp and optimizing long-term patient-centered outcomes. Pulpotomy is categorized into partial pulpotomy (PP), the removal of a partial segment of the coronal pulp tissue, and full pulpotomy (FP), the removal of whole coronal pulp, which is followed by applying the biomaterials onto the remaining pulp tissue and ultimately restoring the tooth.

The Coombs test is important in hematology for detecting erythrocyte-bound IgG antibodies or in serm through agglutination methods, but its sensitivity and specificity are limited. Flow cytometry provides a more precise and sensitive alternative for quantitatively assessing RBC-bound IgG antibodies. This assessment is crucial for evaluating the risk of hemolytic reactions and ensuring safe transfusions.

Cisplatin is a platinum-based drug that is frequently used to treat multiple tumors. The anti-tumor effect of cisplatin is closely related to the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME), which includes several immune cell types, such as the tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs), dendritic cells (DCs), myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), regulatory T cells (Tregs), and natural killer (NK) cells. The interaction between these immune cells can promote tumor survival and chemoresistance, and decrease the efficacy of cisplatin monotherapy.

Background: Early neurological deterioration (END) is associated with a poor prognosis in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Effectively lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) can improve the stability of atherosclerotic plaque and reduce post-stroke inflammation, which may be an effective means to lower the incidence of END. The objective of this study was to determine the preventive effects of evolocumab on END in patients with non-cardiogenic AIS.
