Since the four working groups of the Chinese Society of Cardiology issued first expert consensus on coronary microvascular diseases (CMVD) in 2017, international consensus documents on CMVD have increased rapidly. Although some of these documents made preliminary recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of CMVD, they did not provide classification of recommendations and levels of evidence. In order to summarize recent progress in the field of CMVD, standardize the methods and procedures of diagnosis and treatment, and identify the scientific questions for future research, the four working groups of the Chinese Society of Cardiology updated the 2017 version of the Chinese expert consensus on CMVD and adopted a series of measures to ensure the quality of this document.

Systematically dissecting the highly dynamic and tightly communicating membrane proteome of living cells is essential for the system-level understanding of fundamental cellular processes and intricate relationship between membrane-bound organelles constructed through membrane traffic. While extensive efforts have been made to enrich membrane proteins, their comprehensive analysis with high selectivity and deep coverage remains a challenge, especially at the living cell state. To address this problem, we developed the cell surface engineering coupling biomembrane fusion method to map the whole membrane proteome from the plasma membrane to various organelle membranes taking advantage of the exquisite interaction between two-dimensional metal-organic layers and phospholipid bilayers on the membrane.

The ubiquitin-specific peptidase Ataxin-3 (ATXN3) has emerged as a potential oncogene in a variety of human cancers. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying how ATXN3 achieves its tumorigenic functions remain largely undefined. Herein, we report that targeted deletion of the ATXN3 gene in cancer cells by the CRISPR-Cas9 system resulted in decreased protein expression of Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) without altering its mRNA transcription.

Background Doxorubicin-induced myocardial injury is reflected by the presence of vacuolization in both clinical and animal models. The lack of scar tissue to replace the vacuolizated cardiomyocytes indicates that insufficient cardiac inflammation and healing occurred following doxorubicin injection. Whether improved macrophage activity by zymosan A (zymosan) ameliorates doxorubicin-induced ventricular remodeling in mice is unknown.

Consensus on the stage of liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) in patients is difficult, which restricts the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer. Molecular typing based on genes related to the lipid metabolism pathways can reflect deeper characteristics of liver cancer and complement the deficiency of the clinical staging system. In this study, we constructed and verified two cell subtypes: C1 and C2 in LIHC, based on six lipid metabolic pathway-associated genes identified in two independent external validation cohorts comprising single-cell RNA-sequencing technology (scRNA-Seq) data and bulk RNA-seq data downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

With the emergence of the scientific research field of tumor microenvironment, the idea that tumor growth and propagation cannot be separated from the tumor microenvironment has become common. The autonomic nervous system is involved in the whole process of growth and development of the organism, and it is undeniable that the tumor microenvironment is equally regulated by both the autonomic nervous system and the immune system. Our research focused on the cancer-nerve crosstalk process and revealed the regulatory mechanisms between the autonomic nervous system and prostate, gastric, pancreatic ductal and breast cancers, mainly elucidating that (1) the release of neurotransmitters and their receptors by autonomic nerves may be important for solid tumor progression, and (2) in combination with the latest targeted small molecule imaging technology, we summarized the biological pathways related to neurotransmitters as small molecule tracers to track solid tumor progression.

Aggregation caused quenching (ACQ) effect can severely inhibit the application of hydrophobic photosensitizers (PSs) bearing planar and rigid structures. Most of the reported cases utilized random-coiled polymers for the in vivo delivery of PSs, which would inevitably aggravate ACQ effect due to the flexible chains. In this work, the role of polymers' secondary structures (especially α-helical conformation) in overcoming the PSs' aggregation is systemically investigated based on the design of α-helical polypeptides bearing tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) side chains.

Microorganisms evolve resistance to antibiotics as a function of evolution. Antibiotics have accelerated bacterial resistance through mutations and acquired resistance through a combination of factors. In some cases, multiple antibiotic-resistant determinants are encoded in these genes, immediately making the recipient organism a "superbug".
