Primary signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) of the prostate is a rare neoplasm. However, its potential tumorigenic mechanism, clinicopathological features, and prognostic outcome have not been systematically described. To determine the pathogenic mechanism, we detected distributions of programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), programmed death 1 (PD-1), and cellular components in the tumor microenvironment, including tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (CD4 and CD8), tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs; CD163 and CD68), and tumor-associated fibroblasts (vimentin and alpha-smooth muscle actin [α-SMA]), in tumor tissues from four patients with primary prostatic SRCC compared with corresponding adjacent tissues and tumor tissues from 30 patients with prostate adenocarcinoma (PCa) by immunohistochemical staining.

BACKGROUND This single-center study compared the effect of combined thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) and general anesthesia vs general anesthesia alone on postoperative stress and pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical nephrectomy. MATERIAL AND METHODS Patients undergoing laparoscopic radical nephrectomy were selected and randomized into a study group given TPVB combined with general anesthesia (n=43) and a reference group (n=43) given general anesthesia. Ferroptosis is a newly recognized form of cell death that is distinct from apoptosis, necrosis, autophagy in morphology, biochemistry, and heredity. The basic process of ferroptosis involves disordered permeability of plasma membrane, which is caused by abnormal accumulation of lipids and reactive oxygen species (ROS). The regulatory mechanism of ferroptosis is important due to its involvement in tumor progression, neurotoxicity, neurodegenerative diseases, acute renal failure, and ischemia-reperfusion injury.

SRC-1 is abundant in hippocampus and hypothalamus and is also related to some major risk factors for depression, implicated by its reduced expression after stress and its effect on hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal gland axis function.
