Discovery of potent indazole-based human glutaminyl cyclase (QC) inhibitors as Anti-Alzheimer's disease agents.

The toxic pyroglutamate form of amyloid-β (pE-Aβ) is important for the pathogenesis of early Alzheimer's disease (AD); therefore, reducing pE-Aβ by inhibiting glutaminyl cyclase (QC) provides a promising strategy for developing disease-modifying AD drugs. In this study, potent and selective QC inhibitors with desirable drug-like properties were discovered by replacing the 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl group in a QC inhibitor with a bioisosteric indazole surrogate. Among them, 3-methylindazole-6-yl and 3-methylindazole-5-yl derivatives with an N-cyclohexylurea were identified as highly potent inhibitors with IC values of 3.

Non-communicable diseases prevention in remote areas of Vietnam: Limited roles of health education and community workers.

Objective: This study aimed to measure the exposure of residents to health education messages about non-communicable diseases (NCD)-related risk factors, and activities of village health workers (VHWs) in NCDs prevention and control in the mountainous setting of Vietnam.

Beneficial Effects of Acupuncture as a Complementary Treatment for Patients Receiving Paroxetine For Major Depressive Disorder: A Meta-Analysis.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a major public health problem due to MDD's increasing incidence among adults worldwide. While selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), such as paroxetine, are considered to be the most effective treatment for MDD, the adverse effects of SSRIs should not be neglected. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture as a complement to paroxetine systematically for improving quality of life (QoL) for patients with MDD.

Lean management for improving hospital waiting times-Case study of a Vietnamese public/general hospital emergency department.

Introduction: Emergency departments (EDs) at public hospitals in Vietnam typically face problems with overcrowding, as well as being populated by a wide variety of illnesses, resulting in increasing dissatisfaction from patients. To alleviate these problems, we used the increasingly popular value-stream mapping (VSM) and lean strategy approaches to (1) evaluate the current patient flow in EDs; (2) identify and eliminate the non-valued-added components; and (3) modify the existing process in order to improve waiting times.

Methods: Data from a total of 742 patients who presented at the ED of 108 Military Central Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam, were collected.

Combretastatin A-4 sulfur-containing heterocyclic derivatives: Synthesis, antiproliferative activities and molecular docking studies.

Combretastatin A-4 inspired heterocyclic derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their biological activities on tubulin polymerization and cell proliferation. Among the 19 described sulfur-containing compounds, derivatives (Z)-4h and (Z)-4j exhibited interesting in cellulo tubulin polymerization inhibition and antiproliferative activities with IC values for six different cell lines between 8 and 27 nM. Furthermore, in silico docking studies within the colchicine/CA-4 binding site of tubulin were carried out to understand the interactions of our products with the protein target.

Interdisciplinary Assessment of Hygiene Practices in Multiple Locations: Implications for COVID-19 Pandemic Preparedness in Vietnam.

Although HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) testing for all women has been promoted by Vietnam's Ministry of Health since 2000, test acceptance rates in this country were reported to be less than 30% in the community. This country has been facing the barriers to approach the national services towards transmission prevention from mother to child including HIV testing during antenatal care (ANC) towards mothers. Here, we aim to assess the socioeconomic inequalities in HIV testing during ANC among Vietnamese women.

Trends and changes in the knowledge of mother-to-child transmission means of HIV among Vietnamese women aged 15-49 years and its associated factors: findings from the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, 2000-2014.

This study aims to characterize trends and changes in the prevalence of knowledge of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) means of HIV as well as to identify its associated socioeconomic factors among Vietnamese women. This is a repeated cross-sectional study using data from the Vietnam Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys 2000, 2006, 2011 and 2014. We found that a slow increase was found in the trend of adequate knowledge of HIV transmission means from mother to child among women between 2000 and 2014 (41.
