Background: Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) can recur after removal of the primary tumor and treatment, where they can keep no clinical symptoms and dormant state for 10-15 years. NR2F1 has been demonstrated to regulate the tumor cell dormancy in various malignant tumors and has a potential impact on recurrence and metastasis of carcinoma. However, the role and significance of NR2F1 in SACC dormancy still remain unknown.

To compare the carcinogenic abilities of CD133(+)CD44(+) laryngeal cancer stem cells and general laryngeal cancer stem cells and to identify the mechanism underlying the action of miRNAs. Solid tumor-derived laryngeal carcinoma stem cells and Hep-2-derived laryngeal carcinoma stem cells were cultured, and CD133(+)CD44(+) laryngeal cancer stem cells were sorted by flow cytometry. Boden chamber invasion assay, cell migration assay and tumor formation assay were then performed to compare the invasion, migration and tumorigenic abilities of CD133(+)CD44(+) laryngeal cancer stem cells and general laryngeal cancer stem cells.

Obesity is a well-known primary risk factor for osteoarthritis (OA). In recent decades, the biomechanics-based theoretical paradigm for the pathogenesis of obesity-associated OA has been gradually but fundamentally modified. This modification is a result of accumulating evidence that biological factors also contribute to the etiology of the disease.

Ionic liquids (ILs) show a promising future as electrolytes in electrochemical devices. In particular, IL-based electrolytes bring operations at extreme temperatures to realization that conventional electrolytes fail to accomplish. Although IL electrolytes demonstrate considerable progress in high-temperature applications, their breakthroughs in devices operating at low temperatures are still very limited due to undesirable phase transitions and unsatisfying transport properties.

An interpenetrating polymer network (IPN), chlorophyllin-incorporated environmentally responsive hydrogel was synthesized and exhibited the following features: enhanced mechanical properties, upper critical solution temperature (UCST) swelling behavior, and promising visible-light responsiveness. Poor mechanical properties are known challenges for hydrogel-based materials. By forming an interpenetrating network between polyacrylamide (PAAm) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAAc) polymer networks, the mechanical properties of the synthesized IPN hydrogels were significantly improved compared to hydrogels made of a single network of each polymer.

This work reports new evidence of the versatility of soft and environmentally responsive micron-sized colloidal gel particles as stabilizers at ionic liquid-water droplet interfaces. These particles display a duality with properties ascribed typically to both polymeric and colloidal systems. The utilization of fluorescently labeled composite microgel particles allows in-situ and facile visualization without the necessity of invasive sample preparation.

Poly(ionic liquid) (PIL) derivatives with pyrrole intrinsically conducting polymer (ICP) backbones were synthesized and utilized as novel dispersants of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in various aqueous and non-aqueous systems, including polar and nonpolar solvents. This is due to the highly tunable nature of the PIL, in which the PILs of varying polarity with the same pyrrole-based polycation can be synthesized. The dispersions are exceedingly stable over many months, and with the addition of hexane, Pickering (solid-stabilized) emulsions with the PIL-stabilized MWCNTs at the droplet interfaces were formed.

Biochemical methane potential experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of organic loading rate on the performance of anaerobic digesters with vinegar residues. According to the comparisons of methane production and liquid phase compositions, as well as thermogravimetry, X-ray Diffraction and infrared spectroscopy analyses, the conclusions could be drawn that:①Lower organic loading rate was better to mitigate the accumulation of VFAs and pH decrease during the hydrolysis and acidification of organic matters, which consequently improved methane production. When the inoculum to substrate ratio was 1:1[organic loading rate of 1.

High free ammonia nitrogen (FAN) is regarded as a main factor that inhibits biogas production in high solid anaerobic digestion systems with dewatered sludge. Two mesophilic semi-continuous anaerobic digesters fed with dewatered sludge (input total solids=15%) were operated and their performance under different FAN concentrations by two regulation methods including pH reduction and total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) promotion were investigated. Results showed that when FAN was elevated from (400±174) mg·L to (526±25) mg·L with the increase of TAN, the daily biogas yield declined from (11.

FQs contained in wastewater would be ultimately enriched in sludge, posing a potential threat to the consequent sludge utilization. To optimize the analytical method applicable to the determination of FQs in sludge, the authors selected ofloxacin (OFL), norfioxacin (NOR), ciprofloxacin (CIP) and lomefloxacin (LOM) as the target FQs, and established a method which was based on cell lysis, FQs extraction with triethylamine/methanol/water solution, Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and HPLC-Fluorescence Detection (FLD) determination.
