Hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCCA) has a high degree of malignancy and poor prognosis, and the best long-term prognosis can only be achieved by radical resection. However, the surgical steps are complicated, and the operating space is limited, making it hard to complete laparoscopically. So our team proposes a new surgical approach for laparoscopic left-liver-first anterior radical modular orthotopic right hemihepatectomy (Lap-Larmorh).

CKB affects human osteosarcoma progression by regulating the p53 pathway.

This study aimed to explore the role of the creatine kinase B (CKB) gene in the development of human osteosarcoma (OS). Western blotting and qRT-PCR were performed to detect CKB expression in tissues and cells. CCK-8, colony formation, flow cytometry, Transwell, and cell scratch assays were performed to detect OS cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and migration.

Effects of Berberine on Diabetes and Cognitive Impairment in an Animal Model: The Mechanisms of Action.

Diabetes is a group of metabolic disorders with an increased risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia. The hippocampus in the forebrain contains an abundance of insulin receptors related to cognitive function and plays an important role in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorders. Berberine from traditional Chinese medicine has been used to treat diabetes and diabetic cognitive impairment, although its related mechanisms are largely unknown.

Since December 2019, an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) has been experienced from Wuhan, China to the world. A retrospective cohort study was conducted to summarize the clinical characteristics of patients with COVID-19 and to explore the risk factors affecting the disease duration in Jiangan Fangcang shelter hospital, Wuhan, China. Clinical characteristics of 409 patients with COVID-19 were retrospectively analyzed.

The correlation between imaging expression of P16 and S100 in hypertrophic ligamentum flavum.

Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a common degenerative disease, which can lead to neurological dysfunction and requires surgical treatment. In the previous study, we used H&E staining and immunohistochemistry to qualitatively analyze the expression of S100 and P16 in the pathological process of ligamentum flavum (LF) hypertrophy in patients with LSS. To further explore the relationship between P16, S100 and LF hypertrophy in patients with LSS, we quantitatively detected S100 and P16 and their expressed products based on molecular biology techniques, and analyzed their imaging correlation.

The Role of Melatonin in Electroacupuncture Alleviating Lung Injury Induced by Limb Ischemia-Reperfusion in Rabbits.

BACKGROUND Our previous studies have shown that electroacupuncture (EA) can alleviate lung injury induced by limb ischemia-reperfusion, but the specific mechanism is still unclear. MATERIAL AND METHODS The animals were randomly divided into sham operation group (Sham), model group (IR), electroacupuncture group (EA), sham electroacupuncture group (SEA), and EA+luzindole group (EA+luzindole). The limb ischemia-reperfusion model was established according to previously described, the rabbits in the EA and EA+luzindole groups were given EA at ST36 and BL13 for 7 days before the model preparation and during the model implementation, however, sham EA was mainly used to stimulate the rabbits in the SEA group with shallow needling at the points 0.

Electroacupuncture Attenuates Limb Ischemia-Reperfusion-Induced Lung Injury Via p38 Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase-Nuclear Factor Erythroid-2-Related Factor-2/Heme Oxygenase Pathway.

Background: Electroacupuncture has been reported to protect the body from organ damages, but its mechanisms remain to be explored. This research was designed to investigate the function of electroacupuncture in lung injury resulted from hind limb ischemia-reperfusion (LIR) and whether p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK)-mediated nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor-2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase (HO)-1 pathway contributes to the protective effect of electroacupuncture on LIR-originated lung damage.

Background And Aim: Studies have shown an increasing number of type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients with concomitant obesity and hyperlipidemia syndromes, resulting from relevant metabolic disorders. However, there are few medications and therapies, which can thoroughly address these issues. Therefore, the current study evaluated the efficacy and safety of using JTTZ, a Chinese herbal formula, to treat T2D with obesity and hyperlipidemia.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to screen the molecular targets of miR-34a in colorectal cancer (CRC) and construct the regulatory network, to gain more insights to the pathogenesis of CRC. MATERIAL AND METHODS The microarray data of CRC samples and normal samples (GSE4988), as well as CRC samples transformed with miR-34a and non-transfected CRC samples (GSE7754), were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The differently expressed genes (DEGs) were identified via the LIMMA package in R language.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 90 cases of coronary interventional treatment was conducted in our hospital from January 2010 to January 2012. Cases were divided into three groups, according to the kind of coronary heart disease: angina pectoris (AP) group (30 cases), unstable angina pectoris (UAP) group (30 cases) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) group (30 cases).

Background: Research evidence supports a positive link between soft drinks and depressive symptoms. However, data thus far are only from Caucasian populations. We investigated whether high levels of consumption of soft drinks were associated with the depressive symptoms among adults in China.

Effectiveness and safety of endoscopy for treatment of surgical site infection: A randomized control trial.

The aim of this randomized control study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of endoscopy for the treatment of surgical site infection (SSI), compared with conventional therapy. One hundred and six patients who were diagnosed with severe SSI were included in the study, performed from May 2005 to July 2012 at Tianjin Binhai New Area Dagang Hospital, China. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: 57 patients in group A treated by endoscopy and 49 patients in group B treated by conventional therapy for SSI.

Mental health and burnout in primary and secondary school teachers in the remote mountain areas of Guangdong Province in the People's Republic of China.

Background: A growing number of studies have shown that education is a work context in which professionals (teachers) seem likely to suffer from burnout that may be associated with low levels of mental health. Although there is a demonstrated need to improve the mental health and burnout levels among teachers, little is known about their mental health status, particularly with respect to graduating class teachers in remote mountain areas with undeveloped economies. The purpose of this study was to survey mental health and burnout among graduating class teachers in remote mountain areas and to examine the influence of moderating variables.

[Diagnosis and surgical treatment of solitary fibrous tumor of the pelvis].

Objective: To explore the clinical diagnosis and surgical treatment of pelvic solitary fibrous tumor (SFT).

Methods: The data of nine cases of pelvic solitary fibrous tumor from April 2008 to February 2012 were reviewed retrospectively.

Results: There were 7 male and 2 female patients in this group with a median age of 56 years, of whom 6 were asymptomatic.

Late postoperative opacification of the hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens in both eyes.

Purpose: To report on the clinical findings of a case of late opacification of the hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens (IOLs) in both eyes after cataract surgery.

Methods: A 79-year-old man with a history of decreased visual acuity and complaints of glare and blurred vision in both eyes over the past 3 years. He had received an uneventful phacoemulsification combined with posterior chamber IOL implantation for senile cataract in both eyes 13 years ago, and had undergone neodymium:YAG(Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy on both eyes 6 years ago, for posterior capsular opacification (PCO).
