Hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCCA) has a high degree of malignancy and poor prognosis, and the best long-term prognosis can only be achieved by radical resection. However, the surgical steps are complicated, and the operating space is limited, making it hard to complete laparoscopically. So our team proposes a new surgical approach for laparoscopic left-liver-first anterior radical modular orthotopic right hemihepatectomy (Lap-Larmorh).

Background: Screening recommendations for colorectal cancer (CRC) are mainly based on family history rather than lifestyle risk factors. We aimed to assess and compare risk factors for colorectal neoplasm (CRN) and evaluate trends in neoplasm detection rates during the three rounds of screening from 2012 to 2020 in Tianjin, China.
Methods: This study was based on 89,535 first-recorded colonoscopies in Tianjin CRC screening program, 2012-2020.

Diabetes is a group of metabolic disorders with an increased risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia. The hippocampus in the forebrain contains an abundance of insulin receptors related to cognitive function and plays an important role in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorders. Berberine from traditional Chinese medicine has been used to treat diabetes and diabetic cognitive impairment, although its related mechanisms are largely unknown.

Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a common degenerative disease, which can lead to neurological dysfunction and requires surgical treatment. In the previous study, we used H&E staining and immunohistochemistry to qualitatively analyze the expression of S100 and P16 in the pathological process of ligamentum flavum (LF) hypertrophy in patients with LSS. To further explore the relationship between P16, S100 and LF hypertrophy in patients with LSS, we quantitatively detected S100 and P16 and their expressed products based on molecular biology techniques, and analyzed their imaging correlation.

BACKGROUND Our previous studies have shown that electroacupuncture (EA) can alleviate lung injury induced by limb ischemia-reperfusion, but the specific mechanism is still unclear. MATERIAL AND METHODS The animals were randomly divided into sham operation group (Sham), model group (IR), electroacupuncture group (EA), sham electroacupuncture group (SEA), and EA+luzindole group (EA+luzindole). The limb ischemia-reperfusion model was established according to previously described, the rabbits in the EA and EA+luzindole groups were given EA at ST36 and BL13 for 7 days before the model preparation and during the model implementation, however, sham EA was mainly used to stimulate the rabbits in the SEA group with shallow needling at the points 0.

Background: Electroacupuncture has been reported to protect the body from organ damages, but its mechanisms remain to be explored. This research was designed to investigate the function of electroacupuncture in lung injury resulted from hind limb ischemia-reperfusion (LIR) and whether p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK)-mediated nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor-2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase (HO)-1 pathway contributes to the protective effect of electroacupuncture on LIR-originated lung damage.
Materials And Methods: Rabbits were subjected to occluding femoral artery for 2 h.

Objectives: The transcription factor EB (TFEB), a member of the micropthalmia family, has been found to be associated with autophagy and upregulated in some kinds of tumors. However, very few studies focused on TFEB in colorectal cancer (CRC). TFEB expression status and its relevance to clinical features in CRC would be analyzed in this study.

Background And Aim: Studies have shown an increasing number of type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients with concomitant obesity and hyperlipidemia syndromes, resulting from relevant metabolic disorders. However, there are few medications and therapies, which can thoroughly address these issues. Therefore, the current study evaluated the efficacy and safety of using JTTZ, a Chinese herbal formula, to treat T2D with obesity and hyperlipidemia.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to screen the molecular targets of miR-34a in colorectal cancer (CRC) and construct the regulatory network, to gain more insights to the pathogenesis of CRC. MATERIAL AND METHODS The microarray data of CRC samples and normal samples (GSE4988), as well as CRC samples transformed with miR-34a and non-transfected CRC samples (GSE7754), were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The differently expressed genes (DEGs) were identified via the LIMMA package in R language.

Background: Affective disorders, especially depressive symptoms, bring such a burden to mortality and morbidity that they are associated with physical and psychological health and quality of life. Nuts, a foodstuff rich in multiple micronutrients, macronutrients, and other useful components, were considered to be a protector against depressive symptoms. Here, we conducted an analysis to examine the relationship between nut consumption and depressive symptoms.

Background: A growing number of studies have shown that education is a work context in which professionals (teachers) seem likely to suffer from burnout that may be associated with low levels of mental health. Although there is a demonstrated need to improve the mental health and burnout levels among teachers, little is known about their mental health status, particularly with respect to graduating class teachers in remote mountain areas with undeveloped economies. The purpose of this study was to survey mental health and burnout among graduating class teachers in remote mountain areas and to examine the influence of moderating variables.
