Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the most commonly seen cardiovascular conditions across the globe. Junctional cadherin 5 associated (JCAD) protein is found in the intercellular junctions of endothelial cells and linked to cardiovascular diseases. Nonetheless, the influence of JCAD on cardiomyocyte injury caused by CHD is unclear.

Myelin sheath, as the multilayer dense structure enclosing axons in humans and other higher organisms, may rupture due to various injury factors after spinal cord injury, thus producing myelin debris. The myelin debris contains a variety of myelin-associated inhibitors (MAIs) and lipid, all inhibiting the repair after spinal cord injury. Through summary and analysis, the present authors found that the inhibition of myelin debris can be mainly divided into two categories: firstly, the direct inhibition mediated by MAIs; secondly, the indirect inhibition mediated by lipid such as cholesterol.

Cartilage defects in the knee are often associated with the progression of degenerative osteoarthritis (OA), and cartilage repair is a useful strategy for managing this disease. However, cartilage repair is challenging because of the unique environment within the tissue. Recently, stem cell-based therapies have shed new light on this issue.

Kaempferol (KPR), a flavonoid compound found in various plants and foods, has garnered attention for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. In preliminary studies, KPR can modulate several signaling pathways involved in inflammation, making it a candidate for treating cholecystitis. This study aimed to explore the effects and mechanisms of KPR on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced human gallbladder epithelial cells (HGBECs).

Rationale: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the predominant subtypes accounting for approximately 85% of thyroid carcinomas, has a rapidly increasing global incidence rate. Statistically, approximately 74.6% PTC patients had the genomic variants of BRAF, especially BRAFV600E mutation, which has been reported to stratify patients and guide clinic-therapies.

Improving diabetes self-management (DSM) is facing real-world challenges among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who have a low education level in resource-limited areas. This study aimed to investigate whether diabetes knowledge could predict glycemic levels in people with T2DM in rural China. This analytical cross-sectional study recruited 321 people with T2DM from eight villages by purposive sampling at baseline.

Introduction: The function of promoting bone regeneration of Moutan Cortex (MC), a traditional Chinese medicine, has been widely known but, the effective components of MC in promoting osteoblast-mediated bone regeneration were still unclear.
Objective: The method of osteoblast membrane bio-specific extraction conjugated with HPLC analysis was established to screen bone regeneration active components from MC.
Methods: The fingerprints, washing eluate and desorption eluate of MC extract were analyzed by the established HPLC-DAD method.
Titanium is widely used in implants because of its good mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, titanium has no biological activity and is prone to causing implant failure after implantation. In this study, we prepared a manganese- and fluorine-doped titanium dioxide coating on a titanium surface by microarc oxidation technology.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are a group of small non‑coding RNAs that serve as post‑transcriptional gene modulators. miRNAs have been demonstrated to serve a pivotal role in carcinogenesis and the dysregulated expression of miRNAs is a well‑understood characteristic of cancer. In recent years, miR‑370 has been established as a key miRNA in various cancers.

Implant materials are mainly used to repair and replace defects in human hard tissue (bones and teeth). Titanium (Ti) and Ti alloys are widely used as implant materials because of their good mechanical properties and biocompatibilities, but they do not have the ability to induce new bone formation and have no antibacterial properties. Through surface modification, Ti and its alloys have certain osteogenic and antibacterial properties such that Ti implants can meet clinical needs and ensure integration between Ti implants and bone tissue, and this is currently an active research area.

Due to their excellent mechanical properties and good biocompatibility, titanium alloys have become a popular research topic in the field of medical metal implants. However, the surface of the titanium alloy does not exhibit biological activity, which may cause poor integration between the interface of the titanium implant and the interface of the bone tissue and subsequently may cause the implant to fall off. Therefore, surface biological inertness is one of the problems that titanium alloys must overcome to become an ideal orthopedic implant material.
