An unprecedented correlation between the catalytic activity of a Zr-based UiO-type metal-organic framework (MOF) and its degree of interpenetration (DOI) is reported. The DOI of an MOF is hard to control owing to the high-energy penalty required to construct a partially interpenetrated structure. Surprisingly, strong interactions between building blocks (inter-ligand hydrogen bonding) facilitate the formation of partially interpenetrated structures under carefully regulated synthesis conditions.

Intuitive and perceptual neuroprosthetic systems require a high degree of neural control and a variety of sensory feedback, but reliable neural interfaces for long-term use that maintain their functionality are limited. Here, a novel hybrid bionic interface is presented, fabricated by integrating a biological interface (regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI)) and a peripheral neural interface to enhance the neural interface performance between a nerve and bionic limbs. This interface utilizes a shape memory polymer buckle that can be easily implanted on a severed nerve and make contact with both the nerve and the muscle graft after RPNI formation.

Magnetic heterojunction structures with a suppressed interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and a sustainable long-range interlayer exchange coupling are achieved with an ultrathin platinum insertion layer. The systematic inelastic light scattering spectroscopy measurements indicate that the insertion layer restores the symmetry of the system and, then, the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which can prevent the identical magnetic domain wall motions, is obviously minimized. Nevertheless, the strong interlayer exchange coupling of the system is maintained.

Pancreatic β-cell dysfunction and eventual loss are key steps in the progression of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress responses, especially those mediated by the protein kinase RNA-like ER kinase and activating transcription factor 4 (PERK-ATF4) pathway, have been implicated in promoting these β-cell pathologies. However, the exact molecular events surrounding the role of the PERK-ATF4 pathway in β-cell dysfunction remain unknown.

Department of Energy Science and Engineering, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), 333 Techno Jungang-daero, Hyeonpung-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu, 42988, Republic of Korea.

With the growing popularity of Li-ion batteries in large-scale applications, building a safer battery has become a common goal of the battery community. Although the small errors inside the cells trigger catastrophic failures, tracing them and distinguishing cell failure modes without knowledge of cell anatomy can be challenging using conventional methods. In this study, a real-time, non-invasive magnetic field imaging (MFI) analysis that can signal the battery current-induced magnetic field and visualize the current flow within Li-ion cells is developed.

Cross-linkable hole transport materials (HTMs) are ideal for improving the performance of solution-processed quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) and phosphorescent light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, previously developed cross-linkable HTMs possessed poor hole transport properties, high cross-linking temperatures, and long curing times. To achieve efficient cross-linkable HTMs with high mobility, low cross-linking temperature, and short curing time, we designed and synthesized a series of low-temperature cross-linkable HTMs comprising dibenzofuran (DBF) and 4-divinyltriphenylamine (TPA) segments for highly efficient solution-processed QLEDs and OLEDs.

Models trained on datasets with texture bias usually perform poorly on out-of-distribution samples since biased representations are embedded into the model. Recently, various image translation and debiasing methods have attempted to disentangle texture biased representations for downstream tasks, but accurately discarding biased features without altering other relevant information is still challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel framework that leverages image translation to generate additional training images using the content of a source image and the texture of a target image with a different bias property to explicitly mitigate texture bias when training a model on a target task.
