In this study, the development and characterization of 2D ferroelectric field-effect transistor (2D FeFET) devices are presented, utilizing nanoscale ferroelectric HfZrO (HZO) and 2D semiconductors. The fabricated device demonstrated multi-level data storage capabilities. It successfully emulated essential biological characteristics, including excitatory/inhibitory postsynaptic currents (EPSC/IPSC), Pair-Pulse Facilitation (PPF), and Spike-Timing Dependent Plasticity (STDP).

Unlabelled: Subretinal prostheses have been developed to stimulate survived retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), indirectly following the physiological visual pathways. However, current spreading from the prosthesis electrode causes the activation of unintended RGCs, thereby limiting the spatial resolution of artificial vision. This study proposes a strategy for focal stimulation of RGCs using a subretinal electrode array, in which six hexagonally arranged peripheral electrodes surround a stimulating electrode.

The degradation of mechanical properties caused by grain coarsening or the formation of brittle phases during welding reduces the longevity of products. Here, we report advances in the weld quality of ultra-high strength steels by utilizing Nb and Cr instead of Ni. Sole addition of Cr, as an alternative to Ni, has limitations in developing fine weld microstructure, while it is revealed that the coupling effects of Nb and Cr additions make a finer interlocking weld microstructures with a higher fraction of retained austenite due to the decrease in austenite to acicular ferrite and bainite transformation temperature and carbon activity.

Levodopa, a dopamine prodrug, alleviates the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD), but its chronic use gives rise to levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID). Purpose: Advances in mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomic analysis have successfully demonstrated the in-depth detection of protein biomarkers in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) from patients with lung cancers. Nuclei segmentation plays a crucial role in disease understanding and diagnosis. In whole slide images, cell nuclei often appear overlapping and densely packed with ambiguous boundaries due to the underlying 3D structure of histopathology samples. Instance segmentation via deep neural networks with object clustering is able to detect individual segments in crowded nuclei but suffers from a limited field of view, and does not support amodal segmentation.

The process of cellular senescence, which is characterized by stable cell cycle arrest, is strongly associated with dysfunctional cellular metabolism and circadian rhythmicity, both of which are reported to result from and also be causal to cellular senescence. As a result, modifying any of them-senescence, metabolism, or the circadian clock-may affect all three simultaneously. Obesity accelerates aging by disrupting the homeostasis of reactive oxygen species (ROS) via an increased mitochondrial burden of fatty acid oxidation.

Three-dimensional (3D) nanomaterials with high functional properties are emerging as the most promising artificial enzymes for overcoming the significant disadvantages of natural enzymes. Anticancer therapy using 3D-enzyme mimetic materials has emerged as an essential development for catalyzing cancer cell destruction. We report for the first time a novel 3D-based enzyme mimetic material, CaMoO/MoS/CuS nanoflower (CMC NF), that exhibits a large specific surface area, uniform flower-like structure, excellent biocompatibility, and high porosity, making it a suitable candidate for cancer detection and therapy.

The cell cycle apoptosis regulator (CCAR) family of proteins consists of two proteins, CCAR1 and CCAR2, that play a variety of roles in cellular physiology and pathology. These multidomain proteins are able to perform multiple interactions and functions, playing roles in processes such as stress responses, metabolism, and the DNA damage response. The evolutionary conservation of CCAR family proteins allows their study in model organisms such as Caenorhabditis elegans, where a role for CCAR in aging was revealed.

Lipid alterations in the brain are well-documented in disease and aging, but our understanding of their pathogenic implications remains incomplete. Recent technological advances in assessing lipid profiles have enabled us to intricately examine the spatiotemporal variations in lipid compositions within the complex brain characterized by diverse cell types and intricate neural networks. In this study, we coupled time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) to an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) model, for the first time, to elucidate changes in the lipid landscape and investigate their potential role in the disease process, serving as a methodological and analytical complement to our prior approach that utilized matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry.
