Background: Children with loss of control (LOC) eating and overweight/obesity have relative deficiencies in trait-level working memory (WM), which may limit adaptive responding to intra- and extra-personal cues related to eating. Understanding of how WM performance relates to eating behavior in real-time is currently limited.
Methods: We studied 32 youth (ages 10-17 years) with LOC eating and overweight/obesity (LOC-OW; n = 9), overweight/obesity only (OW; n = 16), and non-overweight status (NW; n = 7).
As Western societies become more ethnically and culturally diverse, understanding the acculturation of immigrant youth is essential for fostering social cohesion. How the cultural identity formation of ethnic minority adolescents relates to their academic, social, and psychological adjustment is an important and as yet unresolved research question. This study examined to what extent identifying with the heritage and/or host culture is an individual resource or risk factor for the adjustment of immigrant youth in Germany.

Evidence for the safe use of Lumason® (SonoVue®), an ultrasound enhancing agent (UEA), in special patient populations is critical to enable healthcare professionals to make informed decisions concerning its use in such patients. Herein, we provide insight on the safety and tolerability of Lumason® in special patient populations. Findings are presented from clinical pharmacology studies conducted in patients with compromised cardiopulmonary conditions, from a retrospective study performed in critically ill patients, and from post-marketing surveillance data from over 20 years of market use of Lumason® (SonoVue®).

Background: Increasing attention is being paid to lifestyle factors, such as nutrition and physical activity (PA), as potential complementary treatment options in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Previous research indicates that sugar and saturated fat intake may be linked to increased impulsivity, a core symptom of ADHD, whereas protein intake and PA may be related to reduced impulsivity. However, most studies rely on cross-sectional data that lack microtemporal resolution and ecological validity, wherefore questions of microtemporal dynamics (eg, is the consumption of foods high in sugar associated with increased impulsivity within minutes or hours?) remain largely unanswered.

Unilateral brain lesions can lead to impaired contralesional attention and reduced ipsilesional and enhanced contralesional superior colliculus (SC) activity. We aimed to investigate whether modulation of SC activation via monocular eye patching can improve contralesional attention. Twenty left-hemispheric (LH) and 20 right-hemispheric (RH) patients with an acute or subacute middle cerebral artery (MCA) stroke completed an endogenous version of the Posner cueing task twice, while the left or right eye was covered with an eye patch.

Background: Affectionate touch, which is vital for mental and physical health, was restricted during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study investigated the association between momentary affectionate touch and subjective well-being, as well as salivary oxytocin and cortisol in everyday life during the pandemic.
Methods: In the first step, we measured anxiety and depression symptoms, loneliness and attitudes toward social touch in a large cross-sectional online survey (N = 1050).

Because this conclusion is mostly based on correlation analysis, a causal relationship between fluid intelligence and working memory has not yet been established. Working memory (WM) precision, or the fidelity with which items can be remembered, is an important aspect of WM capacity that increases over childhood. Why individuals are more or less precise from moment to moment and why WM becomes more stable with age are not yet fully understood. A photonic approach to the cancellation of self-interference in the optical domain with fiber dispersion immunity and harmonic frequency down-conversion function is proposed based on an integrated, dual-parallel, dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator (DP-DMZM). A dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator (DMZM) is used as an optical interference canceller, which cancels the self-interference from the impaired signal before fiber transmission to avoid the effect of fiber transmission on the cancellation performance. Another DMZM is used to provide carrier-suppressed, local-oscillation (LO)-modulated, high-order double optical sidebands for harmonic frequency down-conversion to release the strict demand for high-frequency LO sources.

Recent work finds that pupil dilation (or the "pupillary surprise response") following expectancy violations is predictive of belief revision. The affective tone of autobiographical memories may be influenced by age in two ways-by the current age of the remembering individual and by the age of the remembered self at the time of the remembered event. While aging has been associated with more positive autobiographical memories, young adulthood is remembered more positively than other parts of life. We tested whether these effects also show in life story memories and how they act jointly on affective tone; also, we wanted to explore their effects on remembered lifetimes other than early adulthood.

This study collected monthly data between September 2020 and August 2021 to document the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for German preschool teachers during different pandemic phases. This longitudinal study investigated how subjective stress experiences and self-efficacy beliefs of preschool teachers ( = 279) change over time and explored associations on the inter- and intraindividual level. We observed phase-specific changes in subjective stress experiences and interindividual differences in change rates, but no systematic increase across the entire study period.
