Identification and characterization of crop mutants through molecular marker analysis are imperious to develop desirable traits in mutation breeding programs. In the present study, macromolecular variations with altered morphological, quantitative, and biochemical traits were generated through chemically induced mutagenesis via alkylating agents and heavy metals. Statistical analysis based on quantitative traits indicating enhanced mean value in mutant lines selected from the M generation as compared to previous generations.

The present catalogue comprises 144 species in 54 genera and 11 families of Yponomeutoidea found in India which represents 7.6 % of the total 1,884 species. Among the 11 families present in India, Yponomeutidae is most speciose (32 species in 14 genera), followed by Lyonetiidae (28 species in four genera), Glyphipterigidae (25 species in four genera), Plutellidae (14 species in nine genera), Heliodinidae (eight species in six genera), Ypsolophidae (six species in two genera), Attevidae (five species in single genus), Argyresthiidae (five species in single genus), Praydidae (five species in single genus) and Bedelliidae (four species in single genus).

Chromium (Cr) toxicity impairs essential morphological and metabolic activities in plants. The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the beneficial role of plant growth promoting rhizobacterial strains namely Pseudomonas aeruginosa (M1), Burkholderia gladioli (M2) and earthworms (Eisenia fetida) in alleviating Cr toxicity in 10 days old Brassica juncea L. The findings delineated that addition of earthworms and PGPR restored growth, boosted Cr uptake and showed upregulation of metal transporter genes (SULTR 1-4).

Fuxin is located in the atmospheric channel around Bohai Bay, and its geographical location is very special. Few existing studies have investigated the pollution characteristics and health risk assessment of heavy metals in atmospheric PM during the four seasons in Fuxin, so a total of 180 PM samples were collected from four sampling sites in Fuxin from December 2021 to November 2022. The seasonal distribution characteristics of V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, As, Sb, Cd and Ba were analysed via inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP‒MS), and the source of the heavy metals was analysed via the enrichment factor (EF) and principal component analysis (PCA).

Four distinct CeO catalysts featuring varied morphologies (nanorods, nanocubes, nanoparticles, and nano spindle-shaped) were synthesized through a hydrothermal process and subsequently employed in the oxidation of dichloromethane (DCM). The findings revealed that the nano spindle-shaped CeO exhibited exposure of crystal faces (111), demonstrating superior catalytic oxidation performance for DCM with a of 337 °C and notably excellent low-temperature catalytic activity ( = 192 °C). The primary reaction products were identified as HCl and CO.

An exceptional Zinc(II)-organic framework with the formula [{Zn()(bdc)}·DMF] () has been constructed solvothermally using a novel linker {2,7-bis(3-(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)phenyl)benzo[lmn][3,8]phenanthroline-1,3,6,8(2,7)-tetraone}, coligand Hbdc (1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid), and ZnBF·HO. The ligand has been fabricated after functionalization of NDA (1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic dianhydride) core with 3-(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)phenyl group. The single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that exhibits a comprehensive three-dimensional (3D) framework architecture and features (4)-connected uninodal ; 4/6/c1; sqc6 topology with point symbol {6} and two-dimensional (2D) + 2D, parallel polycatenation.

In the present study, a hybrid chitosan-alginate superabsorbent is prepared using maleic acid as a cross-linker and acrylamide as a grafting agent using the free radical mechanism. The composite hydrogel shows good swelling capacity along with hemocompatibility and biocompatibility and hence it is utilized as a drug delivery device. The characterization techniques including x-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and thermal analysis indicate the successful synthesis of stable hydrogel with rich functionalities.
