The aim of this article was to present an asymptomatic lesion with insignificant clinical findings which turned out to be metastatic lesion in the jaws with primary in lung. The most common site of lung metastasis in the orofacial region is the mandible, but in our case it was seen in the maxilla. Metastases to the jaw bones occur in later stages.

Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 2 (BST2) is an interferon induced host restriction factor for HIV-1 that blocks the release of nascent virions from infected T cells. We aimed to characterize BST2 gene variants in HIV-1 positive individuals in Indian cohort and study the association of these variants with disease progression in long term non progressors (LTNPs) and progressors. Archived samples of 32 LTNPs, 17 progressors, and 78 controls were screened for BST2 gene polymorphisms using Sanger's sequencing method.

Fanconi anemia (FA) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by bone marrow failure, predisposition to cancer, and congenital abnormalities. Tetherin, an interferon-induced host protein encoded by the bone marrow stromal antigen 2 (BST2/CD317/HM1.24) gene, is involved in obstructing the release of many retroviruses and other enveloped viruses by cross-linking the budding virus particles to the cell surface. This activity is antagonized in the case of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 wherein its accessory protein Viral Protein U (Vpu) interacts with tetherin, causing its downregulation from the cell surface.

Aim: To investigate the biocompatibility of green synthesized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO Np) using floral extract of Calotropis gigantea in room condition.

Materials & Methods: Green synthesized and characterized CuO Np was evaluated for their cellular and molecular biocompatibility by experimentally and computational molecular docking.

Results: Synthesized CuO NP was found to have a size 32 ± 09 nm with ζ potential -35 ± 12 mV.

HIV-1 being the most widespread type worldwide, its accounts for almost 95% of all infections including HIV associated dementia (HAD) that triggers neurological dysfunction and neurodegeneration in patients. The present investigation reports the growth kinetics and diosgenin accumulation in callus cultures of Costus speciosus. Effect of explants, media and plant growth regulators was evaluated with respect to callus induction and growth. Out of the two explants viz pseudostem and seed, pseudostem showed maximum callus induction frequency of 90% on MS medium.
