The immune-modulating activity of "Ferrovir" medication in system in vitro was analyzed using neoplastic cellular line MT-4 as a model. Ferrovir decreased number of cells containing such markers of activation as CD28+, CD38+, CD62L+, CD69+ and HLA-DR+.Under 24 hours incubation period of cells in presence of 500 mkg per ml of medication, indices of decreasing of number of cells expressing these proteins (IRE), for proteins CD28, CD38, CD62L and HLA-DR made up to 1,9 ± 0,4, 1,3 ± 0,4, 1,2 ± 0,4, 1,1 ± 0,06 correspondingly.

The article considers expression of markers of activation of neoplastic CD4+ T-lymphocytic transplantable cellular line M T-4, transformed by T-lymphotropic human virus type I. It is demonstrated that in cells are detected such external proteins as CD25, CD28, CD38, CD62L, CD69, CD95 and HLA-DR. The maximal number of these components was detected in three days after transplantation of cells.

Blood immunological parameters (cytokine profile and interferon status) and the level of monoamines and their metabolites in various brain structures (amygdala, hippocampus, septum, and hypothalamus) were studied in rats kept under standard conditions or in overpopulated cages. Long-term overcrowding was associated with reduced expression of IL-4 gene, increased transcription of IL-17, and decreased production of IFN-γ, which attested to impaired humoral and cell-mediated immunity and disturbances in IFN-γ synthesis at the post-transcriptional level. Under these conditions, the levels of norepinephrine and dopamine decreased in the septum, but increased in the hypothalamus.

The nutrient medium on the basis of enzymatic hydrolysate of rice flour was used for culturing of MDCK and Vero(B) cells. Culturing of the vaccine line Vero(B) in this medium was not accompanied by changes in proliferative activity and sensitivity to influenza viruses A(H1N1) and A(H3N2).

We developed a model of herpetic orchitis in guinea pigs. Intratesticular inoculation of type 2 herpes simplex virus suspension results in infection of the testicular spermatocytes and spermatides. The possibility of viral infection dissemination from infected into intact testis is proven.

Hyalomma marginatum ticks (449 pools, 4787 ticks in total) collected in European Russia and Dermacentor niveus ticks (100 pools, 1100 ticks in total) collected in Kazakhstan were screened by ELISA for the presence of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV). Virus antigen was found in 10.2 and 3.

DNA packing of bacteriophage phikz (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) was studied by electron microscopy after gentle destruction of the capsid with powerful laser impulse in aqueous virus suspension in the presence organic dye. Suspension of destroyed phage heads contained complexes of genomic DNA with endogenous capsid proteins characterized by pronounced regular structure. The type of these structures corresponds to one the main model of phage DNA packing, the so-called coil packing.

A karyological analysis of twenty-two variants of eight cell lines, which differed in their susceptibility to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and which had been obtained from different sources, was carried out by means of differential chromosome staining for G and C bands. The karyotypes of eight T-lymphoblastoid cell lines were identified, including five (MT-4, Molt-3, CEM, H-9, and Hut-78) not previously studied by cytogenetic methods. Karyotyping confirmed the identity of seventeen variants of the eight cell lines, and five variants of four lines were found to be misidentified.

The relation of the initial products of the HIV-1 gag gene to the final products was determined in virus samples and cell fractions of infected H9 and Jurkat-tat cell cultures. The proteins were identified by immunoblotting with pooled sera from AIDS patients or monoclonal antibodies. The proportion in the virions of gag precursor proteins and the products of their proteolytic cleavage varied according to the maturity of the virus particles as determined by electron microscopy.

A series of plasmids encoding native and modified sequences of the hepatitis B virus core antigen (HBcAg) was created. Analysis of the products generated by expression of the plasmid genomes in Escherichia coli showed that a polypeptide with primary structure identical to that deduced for native HBcAg forms particles in the bacterial cells which are indistinguishable from the native nucleocapsids in morphological and antigenic properties. Removal of the thirty-nine C-terminal amino acids which form a protamine-like domain caused insignificant impairment of the particle-forming process.
