Kode Lab, Tumor Immunology & Immunotherapy Group, Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer, Tata Memorial Centre, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, 410210, India.

Background: There is a continuous research in the area of biomimetic coatings on the titanium (Ti) implant surfaces for improved survival and long-term successful outcomes in the field of dentistry and orthopedics. In-vitro approaches are ideal systems for studying cell-material interactions without complexity and interference observed in in-vivo models.

Purpose: The present study was undertaken to evaluate the osteoblast characteristics and function on Ti substrates coated with the novel composite coating of ceramic apatite-wollastonite (AW) and polymer chitosan.

Objective: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by excessive fibrosis, immune dysfunction, and vascular damage, in which the expression of many growth factors is deregulated. CD146 was recently described as a major actor in SSc. Since CD146 also exists as a circulating soluble form (sCD146) that acts as a growth factor in numerous angiogenic- and inflammation-related pathologies, we sought to identify the mechanisms underlying the generation of sCD146 and to characterize the regulation and functions of the different variants identified in SSc.

Introduction:  Hypertension is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases, and the prevalence of hypertension continues to rise across the globe. National and international guidelines recommend angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), calcium channel blockers (CCBs), diuretics, and beta-blockers for the management of hypertension. CCBs are among the most used antihypertensive medications and Cilnidipine is a newer dihydropyridine CCB shown to have a prolonged antihypertensive property.

The importance of neurorehabilitation services for people with disabilities is getting well-recognized in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) recently. However, accessibility to the same has remained the most significant challenge, in these contexts. This is especially because of the non-availability of trained specialists and the availability of neurorehabilitation centers only in urban cities owned predominantly by private healthcare organizations.

The loss of melanocytes in vitiligo is associated with architectural, transcriptional, and cellular perturbations of keratinocytes and manifests as a reduced proliferation potential in vitro and delayed re-epithelialization in vivo. To understand the molecular mechanisms underlying this delay, microRNA (miRNA) profiling was performed on split skin biopsies collected on Day 1 (basal level) and Day 14 (wound re-epithelialization) from nonlesional (NL) and lesional (L) skin of five subjects with stable nonsegmental vitiligo and 129 miRNAs were found to be differentially regulated between the NL and L healed epidermis. miR-21-5p, expressed at comparable levels on NL and L Day 1 samples, demonstrated significant upregulation during re-epithelialization.
