Metal oxide semiconductors are highly promising due to their excellent photocatalytic performance in the photodegradation of industrial waste containing refractory chemical compounds. A hybrid structure with other semiconductors provides improved photocatalytic performance. In this work, porous and two-dimensional (2D) hexaniobate-bismuth vanadate (Nb-BiVO) Z-scheme hybrid photocatalysts are synthesized by chemical solution growth (CSG) of BiVO over electrophoretically deposited Nb thin films.

The prevalence of Candida albicans infection has increased during the past few years, which contributes to the need for new, effective treatments due to the increasing concerns regarding antifungal drug toxicity and multidrug resistance. Butyl isothiocyanate (butylITC) is a glucosinolate derivative, and has shown a significant antifungal effect contrary to Candida albicans. Additionally, how butylITC affects the virulence traits of C.

Surface dose measurement and comparison between TLD and OSLD during modified re constructive mastectomy irradiation.

Biomed Phys Eng Express

May 2024

Department of Medical Physics, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, D. Y. Patil Education Society (Deemed to be University), Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.

Radiotherapy (RT) is one of the major treatment modalities among surgery and chemotherapy for carcinoma breast. The surface dose study of modified reconstructive constructive Mastectomy (MRM) breast is important due to the heterogeneity in the body contour and the conventional treatment angle to save the lungs and heart from the radiation. These angular entries of radiation beam cause an unpredictable dose deposition on the body surface, which has to be monitored.

Localized heat generation from manganese iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONPs) conjugated with chemotherapeutics under the exposure of an alternating magnetic field (magneto-chemotherapy) can revolutionize targeted breast cancer therapy. On the other hand, the lack of precise control of local temperature and adequate MIONP distribution in laboratory settings using the conventional two-dimensional (2D) cellular models has limited its further translation in tumor sites. Our current study explored advanced 3D tumor models as a promising alternative to replicate the complete range of tumor characteristics.

Midgut volvulus is a rare incidence in adults, especially in octogenarians. More unlikely is to find a midgut volvulus without necrosis or the need to do bowel resection when the volvulus is found within an internal hernia due to a mesenteric defect. No case has been reported with our unusual presentation, making it a rare and challenging discovery.
