Purpose: Compressed Sensing (CS) is an emerging technique to accelerate MRI acquisitions. The aim of this study was to assess the reliability and accuracy of cartilage thickness measurements in the knee using a CS-enabled isotropic 3D Fast Spin-Echo (FSE) sequence on a 3-T MRI scanner.
Methods: Twenty-eight tibial condyle sections were collected from 14 adult patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty.

Introduction: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is indicated for managing isolated medial knee osteoarthritis in a young patient with a metaphyseal deformity of the proximal tibia. In a medial open-wedge HTO, maintaining the integrity of the hinge is crucial for consolidation and preservation of the correction. Based on a validated model and preliminary results, the objective of this work was to measure and monitor the distribution of mechanical load on a locking fixation plate and the lateral hinge of an HTO using a finite element (FE) model during different phases of consolidation evolution, simulating single leg weightbearing.

Introduction: Lower limb length discrepancy (LLD) following hip arthroplasty after proximal femoral fracture (PFFA) is little studied. The aim of this work was to answer the following questions: 1) What are the incidence and mean values of LLD after PFFA? 2) What are the clinical consequences (tolerance) of LLD after PFFA? 3) Can we identify risk factors for LLD after PFFA? 4) Is there a significant difference in terms of LLD after PFFA to treat intra- versus extra-capsular fractures?
Hypothesis: LLD after proximal femoral fracture arthroplasty is rare but has good clinical tolerance, given the low functional demands of the patients.
Patients And Methods: This is a multicenter prospective observational cohort study (15 centers), including 590 patients, operated on for hip arthroplasty for proximal femur fracture between May 2022 and June 2023.

Introduction: Traditionally, to determine a length on a limb radiograph after total hip arthroplasty (THA), calibration is performed manually with the diameter of a ball or the femoral head. More recently, the development of EOS with automatic calibration has called into question the usefulness of manual calibration to highlight lower limb length inequality (LLLI). However, the validation of EOS with automatic calibration without landmarks to measure length inequalities on large images has not been verified against manual measurements on calibrated radiographs (conventional method), which motivated the present work.

Shadowing enables us to follow individuals on a daily basis without disrupting the normal course of their activities. During their final year externship in a family doctor's practice, medical students from the University of Lausanne meet a patient at home and observe other professionals, thus enriching their understanding of collaborative practice. This approach fosters understanding of roles, teamwork and reflection on professional positioning.

Background: Severe trauma is the leading cause of disability and mortality in the patients under 35 years of age. Surgical site infections (SSI) represent a significant complication in this patient population. However, they are often inadequately investigated, potentially impacting the quality of patient outcomes.

Introduction: Treatment of proximal tibial fractures is known to be difficult. We report our own experience of the treatment of these fractures and evaluate our results. The hypothesis was that the clinical and radiological results were good.

Introduction: Bilateral prosthetic hip or knee replacement in one surgical session is a procedure that has been widely validated in the literature, whereas hip and knee replacement in one surgical session remains poorly documented. This study reports on the results of these procedures by analyzing early post-operative complications in a retrospective multicenter study.
Material And Methods: Between 2009 and 2023, 51 patients underwent hip and knee replacement surgery in a single surgical session at 4 French centers.

The use of Kinesiotaping (KT) has become common in the treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries. This article covers the ten main myths encountered on a daily basis, examining the evidence from recent data (systematic reviews and meta-analyses). With current available data, there is a relative evidence regarding some effect upon short-term pain relief, improved mobility, better joint stability, drainage of edema, and improve muscle function.

Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) ruptures can cause severe knee instability and disability and thus, appropriate management is crucial for the successful restoration of patients' knee function. Rupture of the PCL can occur during sporting activity but more often, as a part of high-energy trauma. The diagnosis can be made using various clinical tests, such as the posterior drawer test or the quadriceps active test.

Background: In reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA), the ideal combination of baseplate lateralization (BL), glenosphere size (GS), and glenosphere overhang (GOH) with a commonly used 145° neck shaft angle (NSA) is unclear. This is the first study evaluating correlations of body height (BH), humeral head size (HS), glenoid height (GH), and association of gender with best glenoid configurations for range of motion (ROM) maintaining anatomic lateralization (aLAT) for optimized muscle length in 145° and less distalized 135° RSA.
Methods: In this computer model study, 22 computed tomographies without joint narrowing were analyzed (11 male/female).

Background: Knee periprosthetic femoral fractures (KPPFF) are becoming more frequent due to the increasing number of arthroplasties and the aging population, for whom maintaining autonomy and function remains a challenge. The use of locking plates has improved functional results and promoted the development of "minimally invasive" surgical (MIS) approaches. Despite the availability of literature comparing between different types of osteosynthesis for KPPFF, there is a paucity of information available on the complications of osteosynthesis using locking plates, depending on the approach.

Introduction: The menisci play a major role in the protection of the knee against osteoarthritis. A medial meniscus (MM) tear occurring in a stable knee is more at risk of repair failure than a suture concomitant with reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament.
Hypothesis: The survival of MM sutures in stable knees depends on the type of lesion.

Introduction: There has been a significant increase in the use of conservative treatment for meniscal lesions due to raised awareness around the need for meniscal preservation. However, sutures of the medial meniscus (MM) in stable knees remain less frequently used. The objective of this study was to, firstly, identify the MM suture rate over one year of activity; secondly, to identify and compare the distribution of MM sutures in stable, and stabilized, knees on this prospective series; and thirdly, to compare the evolution of practices with a retrospective series of more than 5 years follow-up.

Nail and fingertip injuries account for approximately 15 to 24% of hand injuries and are particularly frequent among young and active patients. Despite their prevalence they are often overlooked and considered as cosmetology. However, the nail unit involves complex anatomical structures that help to improve the sensitivity and fine motor skills of the fingers and protect the distal phalanx.

The preparation and medical follow-up of a national team during a major tournament, in particular climatic conditions and at an unusual date posed several problems, acclimatization, recovery in connection with a busy championship game, seasonal risk of infection, which had to be resolved. Close collaboration between the various people involved, team manager, coaches, physiologist, fitness coach and doctors is essential in order to prepare to face the challenges to be met to accompany an ambitious team.

Introduction: Surgical meniscal lesions are common and 80% of cases involve the medial meniscus of a stable knee. There is a lack of consensus regarding postoperative rehabilitation protocols and a wide variation between restrictive and accelerated rehabilitation protocols exists. The main objective of this study was to report the functional results and the failure rate of the various rehabilitation protocols of the retrospective series of the French Society of Arthroscopy (SFA) after suturing the medial meniscus of a stable knee, considering whether the tear is stable or unstable.

A detailed overview of the basic science and clinical literature reporting on the challenges for the optimization of reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is presented in two review articles. Part I looks at (I) external rotation and extension, (II) internal rotation and the analysis and discussion of the interplay of different factors influencing these challenges. In part II, we focus on (III) the conservation of sufficient subacromial and coracohumeral space, (IV) scapular posture and (V) moment arms and muscle tensioning.
