This manuscript presents the quantification and correlation of three aspects of Alzheimer's Disease evolution, including structural, biochemical, and cognitive assessments. We aimed to test a novel structural biomarker for neurodegeneration based on a cortical folding model for mammals. Our central hypothesis is that the cortical folding variable, representative of axonal tension in white matter, is an optimal discriminator of pathological aging and correlates with altered loadings in Cerebrospinal Fluid samples and a decline in cognition and memory.

Methods: An ECCO COllaborative Network For Exceptionally Rare case reports project [ECCO-CONFER] collects cases of GEP-NENs diagnosed in patients with IBD.

Results: GEP-NEN was diagnosed in 100 IBD patients; 61% female, 55% Crohn's disease, median age 48 years (interquartile range [IQR] 38-59]).

Developmental malformations (dysgenesis) of the corpus callosum lead to neurological conditions with a broad range of clinical presentations. Investigating the altered brain connectivity patterns is crucial to understanding both adaptive and maladaptive neuroplasticity in corpus callosum dysgenesis patients. The recent Zika virus (ZIKV) outbreak demonstrates that cost-effective clinical diagnostics are urgently needed to detect and distinguish viral infections to improve patient care. Unlike dengue virus (DENV), ZIKV infections during pregnancy correlate with severe birth defects, including microcephaly and neurological disorders. Because ZIKV and DENV are related flaviviruses, their homologous proteins and nucleic acids can cause cross-reactions and false-positive results in molecular, antigenic, and serologic diagnostics.
