Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a mental illness with a high worldwide prevalence and suboptimal pharmacological treatment, which necessitates the development of novel, more efficacious MDD medication. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) can non-invasively provide insight into the neurochemical state of the brain using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H MRS), and an assessment of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) by perfusion imaging. These methods may provide valuable in vivo markers of the pathological processes underlying MDD.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a simple, robust, and easy-to-use calibration procedure for correcting misalignments in rosette MRI k-space sampling, with the objective of producing images with minimal artifacts.
Methods: Quick automatic calibration scans were proposed for the beginning of the measurement to collect information on the time course of the rosette acquisition trajectory. A two-parameter model was devised to match the measured time-varying readout gradient delays and approximate the actual rosette sampling trajectory.

The challenge of in-situ handling and high-resolution low-dose imaging of intact, sensitive and wet samples in their native state at nanometer scale, including live samples is met by Advanced Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy (A-ESEM). This new generation of ESEM utilises machine learning-based optimization of thermodynamic conditions with respect to sample specifics to employ a low temperature method and an ionization secondary electron detector with an electrostatic separator. A modified electron microscope was used, equipped with temperature, humidity and gas pressure sensors for in-situ and real-time monitoring of the sample.

Purpose: Water removal is one of the computational bottlenecks in the processing of high-resolution MRSI data. The purpose of this work is to propose an approach to reduce the computing time required for water removal in large MRS data.
Methods: In this work, we describe a singular value decomposition-based approach that uses the partial position-time separability and the time-domain linear predictability of MRSI data to reduce the computational time required for water removal.

Bioactive moieties designed to bind to cell membrane receptors benefit from coupling with polymeric carriers that have enhanced affinity to the cell membrane. When bound to the cell surface, such carriers create a "2D solution" of a ligand with a significantly increased concentration near a membrane-bound receptor compared to a freely water-soluble ligand. Bifunctional polymeric carriers based on amphiphilic triblock copolymers were synthesized from 2-pent-4-ynyl oxazoline, 2-nonyl oxazoline and 2-ethyl oxazoline.

Sample preparation protocols for conventional high voltage transmission electron microscopy (TEM) heavily rely on the usage of staining agents containing various heavy metals, most commonly uranyl acetate and lead citrate. However high toxicity, rising legal regulations, and problematic waste disposal of uranyl acetate have increased calls for the reduction or even complete replacement of this staining agent. One of the strategies for uranyless imaging is the employment of low-voltage transmission electron microscopy.
