A novel pheophorbide derivative, trimethyl-152-[L-aspartyl]pheophorbide a was synthesised and investigated for anti-tumor activity. The prepared photosensitizer had good absorption in the phototherapeutic window and high ROS yields. It exhibited excellent phototoxicity higher than reference compound m-THPC when irradiated by 650 nm light in vitro, and obvious photodynamic anti-tumor effect in vivo.

Longitudinal neuroimaging studies offer valuable insight into brain development, ageing, and disease progression over time. However, prevailing analytical approaches rooted in our understanding of population variation are primarily tailored for cross-sectional studies. To fully leverage the potential of longitudinal neuroimaging, we need methodologies that account for the complex interplay between population variation and individual dynamics.

Background: The cerebellum is one of the major central nervous structures consistently altered in obesity. Its role in higher cognitive function, parts of which are affected by obesity, is mediated through projections to and from the cerebral cortex. We therefore investigated the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and cerebellocerebral connectivity.

is a long-established, well known and globally important genus of plant pathogens. Phylogenetic evidence has shown that the biologically distinct, obligate biotrophic downy mildews evolved from at least twice. Since, cladistically, this renders 'paraphyletic', it has been proposed that evolutionary clades be split into multiple genera (Runge et al.

The conversion of carbon dioxide into fuels and fine chemicals is a highly desirable route for mitigating flue gas emissions. However, achieving selectivity toward olefins remains challenging and typically requires high temperatures and pressures. Herein, we address this challenge using 12 nm copper nanoparticles supported on FeOx micro-rods, which promote the selective hydrogenation of CO to light olefins (C-C) under atmospheric pressure.

A20/Tnfaip3, an early NF-κB response gene and key negative regulator of NF-κB signaling, suppresses proinflammatory responses. Its ubiquitinase and deubiquitinase activities mediate proteasomal degradation within the NF-κB pathway. This study investigated the involvement of A20 signaling alterations in podocytes in the development of kidney injury.

The aP vaccines induce a Th2-polarized immune response and by a yet unknown mechanism hamper the clearance of from infected nasopharyngeal mucosa. The aP-induced pertussis toxin-neutralizing antibodies effectively prevent the life-threatening pertussis pneumonia in infants, but aP-elicited immunity fails to prevent infection of nasopharyngeal mucosa and transmission of .

We assessed the chemical, microbiological, rheological and sensory parameters of a fermented dairy product (FDP) containing a galactooligosaccharide (GOS) preparation. This was made from a solution of dried whey and skim milk containing 25% (w/w) lactose using a new enzyme with high transgalactosylation activity (Nurica: Danisco A/S). Conversion of the high initial lactose content enabled a good yield of 56% GOS to be achieved.

Background: Verbal coach encouragement is a key motivational strategy that enhances skill development, game strategy execution, and team cohesion. In youth basketball, where players are still developing technical and decision-making abilities, coach encouragement can play a crucial role in sustaining effort, improving focus, and fostering resilience under small-sided games (SSGs). This study investigated how coach encouragement (CE) influences young basketball players' technical performance and psychophysiological responses during competitive gameplay.

Objective: To determine changes in medication adherence in two cohorts of heart failure patients differing by year of data collection and using a direct method of adherence detection - serum drug level testing.
Methods: We added a second cohort of patients to a prospective monocentric registry of chronic heart failure patients (LEVEL-CHF registry). The two cohorts share the same inclusion criteria but differ by the year of enrolment (2018 and 2020).

Vascular neoplasms with epithelioid cytomorphology encompass a wide spectrum of benign and malignant lesions, including epithelioid hemangioma (EH), cutaneous epithelioid angiomatous nodule (CEAN), epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE), and epithelioid angiosarcoma (EAS). Recently, the first case of a cutaneous hemangioma with epithelioid features harboring a TPM3::ALK fusion was reported. Herein, we report 4 additional cases, including 1 case with an alternate TPM4::ALK fusion, and expand on the clinicopathologic and molecular genetic features of these unusual vascular lesions.

Objectives: To evaluate the results of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the efficacy of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in preventing male genital-related diseases.
Methods: A systematic search of English language literature using PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library was performed in April 2024 according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol.
Results: Evidence from four RCTs (including 7008 male participants) support the efficacy of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine in preventing genital warts and persistent HPV infection in HPV-naïve men.

Background: Heterorhabditis are important biological control agents in agriculture. Two Heterorhabditis populations, S8 and S10, were isolated from agricultural soils in the United States of America. Molecular analyses, based on mitochondrial and nuclear genes, showed that these populations are conspecific and represent a novel species of the "Bacteriophora" clade.

Informal food markets, particularly those managed by (elderly) women in post-communist Eastern Europe, represent a biocultural phenomenon of profound significance since globalisation and increasingly strict legal frameworks often threaten these reservoirs of biocultural food heritage. In the fall of 2022 and 2023, a preliminary field study was conducted by visiting the informal markets of six Moldovan centres: Chișinău, Orhei, Bălți, Călărași, Comrat, and Taraclia, and conversing with approximately 40 mid-aged and elderly sellers. We argue that these markets are crucial in sustaining small-scale farming, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining a connection between urban communities and rural communities and, ultimately, between these rural citizens and their nature, keeping small-scale family farming and domestic traditional gastronomic activities alive.

Background: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare autoimmune disorder. Several new treatment concepts have emerged in recent years, but access to these treatments varies due to differing national reimbursement regulations, leading to disparities across Europe. This highlights the need for high-quality data collection by stakeholders to establish MG registries.

Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) infection can manifest as disease of variable severity, ranging from subclinical infection to severe disease with neurological involvement and potentially fatal outcome. Although TBE is recognized as a major public health problem in Europe, the true burden of disease is potentially underestimated. Here, we investigated TBEV-specific antibody prevalence, infection incidence, and seroreversion and antibody decline rates in a prospective Swiss healthcare worker (HCW) cohort.

Objectives: Risk-based stratification approaches using measurable residual disease (MRD) successfully help to identify T-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) patients at risk of relapse, whose treatment outcomes are very poor. Because of T-ALL heterogeneity and rarity, a reliable and standardized approach for flow cytometry (FC)-based MRD measurement and analysis is often missing.
Methods: Within the international AIEOP-BFM-ALL-FLOW study group we made a consensus on markers and a standard operating procedure for common 8- and 12-color T-ALL MRD panels.
