Relationships between empathy, executive functions, and internalizing and externalizing symptoms in early adolescents.

Background: Previous studies have shown associations between internalizing and externalizing symptoms, executive functions, and empathy. However, the mechanisms that affect this relationship remain unclear. This study employed regression analysis to explore the relationships between empathy, executive functions, and internalizing and externalizing symptoms.

Clinical experience with ceftazidime/avibactam for the treatment of extensively drug-resistant or pandrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in neonates and children.

Purpose: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a significant cause of healthcare-associated infections, resulting in high morbidity and mortality rates due to limited treatment options. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the treatment outcomes and the safety of Ceftazidime-avibactam in infections caused by extensively drug-resistant or pandrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in pediatric patients.

Methods: This study included pediatric patients who received ceftazidime-avibactam treatment due to extensively drug-resistant or pandrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infections, monitored in the pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric wards of Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine between 2022 and 2023.

Inequalities in Access to Diabetes Technologies in Children with Type 1 Diabetes: A Multicenter, Cross-sectional Study from Türkiye.

Objective: To determine inequalities in access to diabetes technologies and the effect of socioeconomic factors on families with children with type 1 diabetes.

Methods: In this multicenter cross-sectional study, parents of children with type 1 diabetes completed a questionnaire about household sociodemographic characteristics, latest HbA1c values, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and insulin pump use of children, the education and working status of parents. These characteristics were compared between technology use (only-CGM, only-pump, CGM+pump, no technology use).

Perceptions of Nurses Regarding Opioid Administration: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Opioids are important drugs used in pain management due to their strong analgesic effects. However, there is limited research on nurses' perceptions of administering opioids.

Purpose: This study aims to determine nurses' perceptions of administering opioids.

Multinational prospective study of incidence and risk factors for central-line-associated bloodstream infections in 728 intensive care units of 41 Asian, African, Eastern European, Latin American, and Middle Eastern countries over 24 years.

Objective: To identify central-line (CL)-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) incidence and risk factors in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Design: From July 1, 1998, to February 12, 2022, we conducted a multinational multicenter prospective cohort study using online standardized surveillance system and unified forms.

Setting: The study included 728 ICUs of 286 hospitals in 147 cities in 41 African, Asian, Eastern European, Latin American, and Middle Eastern countries.

Can bispectral index be an early marker in the diagnosis of brain death?

Background: The diagnosis of brain death is a clinical condition in which it is difficult to perform confirmatory tests due to the ineligible clinical status of the patient. Prior to confirmatory tests, the use of a BIS monitor to determine the time of brain death is important for organ transplants, cost-effectiveness and reducing stressful wait of the family.

Objective: This study aimed to use BIS monitoring for early detection of brain death.

The Effect of Coffee Consumption after Colorectal Surgery on Bowel Movements and Duration of Hospital Stay.

Background: Postoperative ileus after colorectal surgery is a common problem that significantly prolongs hospital stay and increases perioperative costs. The ability of postoperative coffee consumption to produce bowel movement is unclear and needs to be studied.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of coffee consumption on bowel movements and duration of hospital stay after laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

[Humoral Immune Response in Inactivated SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine: When Should a Booster Dose be Administered?].

Vaccination induces the development of long-lasting immunity necessary for a sustained and essential protective antibody response. Understanding how long the humoral immune response induced by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) inactivated vaccine lasts is important to create an effective immunization scheme. This study aimed to detect the first, third, sixth month concentrations and seroconversion rates of the antibodies induced by the inactivated vaccine.

Effect of Heterologous Vaccination Strategy on Humoral Response against COVID-19 with CoronaVac plus BNT162b2: A Prospective Cohort Study.

This study aimed to evaluate the mixed and homogeneous application of the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine CoronaVac (CV) and the mRNA vaccine BNT162b2 (BNT). This prospective cohort study included 235 health care workers who had received two prime shots with CoronaVac. They were divided into three cohorts after the third month: Cohort-I (CV/CV); Cohort-II (CV/CV/CV); and Cohort-III (CV/CV/BNT).

SARS-COV-2 vaccine: first-month results of a six-month follow-up study.

Background: Various COVID-19 vaccines are being developed around the world. Important questions to be answered regarding vaccines are efficacy, safety, and whether antibodies are protective when used in different communities. This study aimed to determine seroconversion rates of the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in healthcare workers in a hospital and short-term adverse events due to the vaccine.

Efficacy and safety of an inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (CoronaVac): interim results of a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial in Turkey.

Background: CoronaVac, an inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, has been shown to be well tolerated with a good safety profile in individuals aged 18 years and older in phase 1/2 trials, and provided a good humoral response against SARS-CoV-2. We present the interim efficacy and safety results of a phase 3 clinical trial of CoronaVac in Turkey.

Methods: This was a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial.

Impact of the International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortium (INICC) Multidimensional Hand Hygiene Approach, over 8 years, in 11 cities of Turkey.

Aims: To evaluate the effectiveness of the International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortium (INICC) Multidimensional Hand Hygiene Approach in Turkey and analyse predictors of poor hand hygiene compliance.

Design: An observational, prospective, interventional, before-and-after study was conducted from August 2003 to August 2011 in 12 intensive care units (ICU) of 12 hospitals in 11 cities. The study was divided into a baseline and a follow-up period and included random 30-minute observations for hand hygiene compliance in ICU.

Estimation of the ratio of renal artery stenosis with magnetic resonance angiography using parallel imaging technique in suspected renovascular hypertension.

Background: Renovascular hypertension, which may lead to end-stage renal failure, necessitates prompt diagnosis and medication. Although various diagnostic tools exist for evaluation of renal arteries, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), with the improvement of hardware and software systems, has become a very promising technique in screening patients with suspected renal hypertension. In this study, we aimed to assess renal artery stenosis on MRA in patients with suspected renovascular disease using a parallel imaging technique which allows faster scanning with higher resolution.
