Objective: The number of patients during disastrous conditions was high, and triage is essential. In chaotic circumstances, orthopedic surgeons can also struggle with patient selection, not only for surgical selection but also for the necessity of hospitalization. So, the performance of the Injury Severity Score, New Injury Severity Score, and Trauma and Injury Severity Score was compared in victims who were struck under the wreckage and had fractures due to the Kahramanmaras Earthquake.

  • - Researchers combined magnetic nickel oxide multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-NiO) with xylanase from Thermomyces lanuginosus by modifying the nanotubes and using glutaraldehyde for covalent attachment, achieving effective enzyme immobilization.
  • - Free xylanase showed optimal activity at pH 7.5, while the immobilized enzyme worked best at pH 7.0 and 60°C, with thermal stability significantly improving post-immobilization (7-12 fold increase).
  • - The immobilized xylanase produced xylooligosaccharides including xylobiose, xylotriose, and xylotetraose, and maintained over 80%

Enhancing the biocompatibility of biomaterials is a critical aspect of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Advances in 3D bioprinting technology, blending natural and synthetic materials for the production of bioink, offer new opportunities to develop highly biocompatible materials that can closely mimic the native tissue environment. In this study, we used pericardial fluid structure (PFS)-based material together with alginate to mimic the extracellular matrix (ECM) and produce a bioink material.

Deep eutectic electrolytes (DEE) have emerged as an innovative approach to address the instability and safety issues of lithium metal batteries at elevated temperatures. However, in practice, there is often an undesirable incompatibility between the eutectic mixture and electrodes, and also an insufficient reduction stability of DEE due to the increased Li concentration. Herein, we designed a new DEE by utilizing weakly solvating tetrahydropyran (THP) solvent.

Knowing the concentration levels of phenolic compounds and anthocyanins in grape berries plays a key role, as these compounds significantly contribute to the nutritional value and quality of grapes, affecting both health benefits and grape quality. The current study was conducted to investigate how different tillage (disc harrow, chisel, no tillage) and organic fertilizer (Antep radish and broccoli chopped residue, olive blackwater) treatments affect the concentration of these valuable compounds in Royal grape berries over three consecutive years (2020-2022), providing insights into optimal agricultural practices for enhancing grape quality. Our results documented significant variations in phenolic and anthocyanin concentrations across different soil tillage, organic fertilizer treatments and years.

Article Synopsis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often leads to hospital readmissions, with a study involving 415 patients in Turkey revealing significant readmission rates of 42.4% within 30 days and 46% within 90 days after severe exacerbations.
  • Key risk factors for 30-day readmissions include high anxiety and depression scores, a history of severe exacerbations, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and frequent antibiotic use.
  • For 90-day readmissions, factors such as severe heart regurgitation, multiple moderate exacerbations, immunosuppression, and being hospitalized via the emergency department were significant contributors.

  • - The study aimed to assess how specific anatomical measurements from X-rays (volar tilt, radial length, radial inclination, and ulnar variance) can help predict deformities in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and diagnose the condition in those with nonspecific wrist pain.
  • - A total of 138 participants (98 with rheumatoid arthritis and 40 controls) were evaluated, revealing that those with rheumatoid arthritis had significantly lower volar tilt and radial length compared to the control group, but no differences were found between the rheumatoid arthritis groups with and without deformities.
  • - The findings suggest that low volar tilt and radial length may serve as early indications of rheumatoid arthritis on X-rays, potentially aiding in the diagnosis of hard-to-identify cases, especially

  • Elastane fibers are crucial in making elastic yarn, and this research focuses on innovative methods to create hybrid yarns with dual cores.
  • A modified pulley system was developed to insert core elements alongside traditional methods during yarn production, using various materials like cotton, PBT, and elastane.
  • The results show that inserting core components side by side improves the yarn's strength, elongation, and reduces hairiness, indicating a successful new technique for producing higher quality hybrid yarns.

Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Cukurova University, Adana, Turkey.

(HP) has been widely used as an alternative medicine due to its active pharmacological properties. While the antiproliferative effects of components such as hypericin and hyperforin have been demonstrated in malignant cell lines, most studies have focused on the pharmacological properties of the HP extract itself. Recent research has indicated that HP and its active substances possess anticancer activities; however, there is a lack of studies examining its effects on osteosarcoma.
