Public health experts agree that pregnant women who fall into priority groups may be offered a Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine. However, little is known about attitudes of pregnant women toward COVID-19 vaccination. We surveyed 300 pregnant women during the roll out of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in Ireland.

Described as the commonest single gene cause of learning disability internationally, the incidence of Fragile X syndrome (FXS) has never previously been determined in Ireland. The aim of this work was to determine the observed incidence of FXS in the island of Ireland; the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and Northern Ireland (NI) separately and combined. Ascertainment was achieved for a cross-sectional study by a retrospective, clinical and laboratory database review of positive FXS cases, born in either ROI or NI, between years 2000-2009 inclusive.

Background: After successful hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, maintaining function and mobility have become key goals in the management of patients with Hurler syndrome, (mucopolysaccharoidosis type 1H). The aim of this study was to establish the functional and radiologic outcomes after hip surgery in patients with this condition who had reached skeletal maturity.
Methods: We prospectively followed 13 mucopolysaccharoidosis type 1H patients with closed triradiate cartilages who had undergone hip surgery in a single institution (Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin) in early childhood, after successful hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Objectives: This study examines (1) what are the minimum accepted baseline investigations recommended in the literature prior to prescribing in child psychiatry and (2) whether these investigations are routinely performed.
Method: Medical literature on prescribing in child and adolescent psychiatry was reviewed, and a list of minimum baseline investigations recommended in the literature was established. A postal survey was performed to establish what current clinical practice is among child and adolescent psychiatrists.
