The presence of sugar in plant tissue can lead to an increase in the osmotic pressure within cells, a decrease in the freezing point of plants, and protection against ice crystal damage to the tissue. Trehalose is closely related to sucrose, which comprises the largest proportion of sugar and has become a hot topic of research in recent years. Our previous studies have confirmed that a key trehalose synthesis gene, TaTPS11, from the cold-resistant winter wheat DM1, could enhance the cold resistance of plants by increasing sugar content.

The dissection of the genetic architecture and the detection of the loci for adaptive traits are important for marker-assisted selection (MAS) for breeding. A spring wheat diversity panel with 251 cultivars, mainly from China, was obtained to conduct a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to detect the new loci, including the heading date (HD), maturating date (MD), plant height (PH), and lodging resistance (LR). In total, 41 loci existing in all 21 chromosomes, except for 4A and 6B, were identified, and each explained 4.

(2n=6x=42, StStJJJJ) is resistant or tolerant to biotic and abiotic stresses, making it suitable for developing perennial crops and forage. Through five cycles of selection, we developed 24 perennial wheatgrass lines, designated 19HSC-Q and 20HSC-Z, by crossing wheat- partial amphiploids with . The cold resistance, morphological performance, chromosome composition, and yield components of these perennial lines were investigated from 2019 to 2022.

TEOSINTE BRANCHED1/CYCLOIDEA/PROLIFERATING CELL FACTOR (TCP) transcription factors are a plant-specific family and play roles in plant growth, development, and responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. However, little is known about the functions of the TCP transcription factors in the soybean cultivars with tolerance to salt stress. In this study, TCP9-like, a TCP transcription factor, was identified in the soybean cultivars exposed to salt stress.

Introduction: Deep insights into adhering soil of root zones (rhizosphere and rhizoplane) microbial community could provide a better understanding of the plant-microbe relationship. To better understand the dynamics of these microbial assemblies over the plant life cycle in rhizodeposition along rice roots.
Methods: Here, we investigated bacterial distribution in bulk, rhizosphere, and rhizoplane soils at tillering, heading, and mature stage, from rice () fields of the Northeast China.

Common bean () is an important food crop; however, its production is affected by salt stress. Salt stress can inhibit seed germination, promote senescence, and modify cell wall biosynthesis, assembly, and architecture. Melatonin, an indole heterocycle, has been demonstrated to greatly impact cell wall structure, composition, and regulation in plants under stress.

Flavonoids are important secondary metabolites, active biomolecules in germinating beans, and have prominent applications in food and medicine due to their antioxidant effects. Rutin is a plant flavonoid with a wide biological activity range. In this study, flavonoid (rutin) accumulation and its related molecular mechanisms in germinating common bean () were observed at different time points (0-120 h) under salt stress (NaCl).

Identification of the gene for agronomic traits is important for the wheat marker-assisted selection (MAS) breeding. To identify the new and stable loci for agronomic traits, including flag leaf length (FLL), flag leaf width (FLW), uppermost internode length (UIL), and plant morphology (PM, including prostrate, semi-prostrate, and erect). A total of 251 spring wheat accessions collected from the Northeast of China were used to conduct genome-wide association study (GWAS) by 55K SNP arrays.

Currently, little is known concerning the evolution and expression patterns of the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) family transcription factors in the adzuki bean. Through the PFAM search, 72 bZIP members of adzuki bean (VabZIP) were identified from the reference genome.

Abiotic stresses induce the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and significantly affect plant growth. Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) plays an important role in controlling intracellular and extracellular ROS signals. However, the interaction between PP2A, ROS, and stress tolerance remains largely unclear.

Uncovering the genetic architecture for grain yield (GY)-related traits is important for wheat breeding. To detect stable loci for GY-related traits, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) was conducted in a diverse panel, which included 251 elite spring wheat accessions mainly from the Northeast of China. In total, 52,503 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from the wheat 55 K SNP arrays were used.

Baked adzuki beans are rich in tantalizing odor and nutritional components, such as protein, dietary fiber, vitamin B, and minerals. To analyze the final quality of baked beans, the acrylamide and volatile formation of adzuki beans were investigated under the conditions of microwave baking and drum roasting. The results indicate that the acrylamide formation in baked adzuki beans obeys the exponential growth function during the baking process, where a rapid increase in acrylamide content occurs at a critical temperature and low moisture content.

Background: Partial amphiploids created by crossing octoploid tritelytrigia(2n = 8× = 56, AABBDDEE) and Thinopyrum intermedium (2n = 6× = 42, StStJJJJ) are important intermediates in wheat breeding because of their resistance to major wheat diseases. We examined the chromosome compositions of five wheat-Th. intermedium partial amphiploids using GISH and multicolor-FISH.

Cold-hardy perennial wheatgrass plays an important role in the use of barren land for farming, soil and water conservation, variety improvement, and also for increasing grass yield. By crossing octoploid tritelytrigia (2n = 8x = 56, AABBDDEE) with (2n = 6x = 42, StStJJJ J ), we developed 34 lines of perennial wheatgrass from F to F generations, which had vigorous regrowth and cold hardiness. The cold-hardy, perennial wheatgrass lines were well-adapted to the cold environment and developed root and rhizomes, with a longevity between 5 and 11 years and a better seed set.
