Background: Laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is a minimally invasive treatment option for intracranial tumors that are challenging to treat via traditional methods; however, its safety and efficacy are not yet well validated in the literature. The objectives of the study were to assess the available evidence of the indications and adverse events (AEs) of LITT and 1-year progression-free survival and 1-year overall survival in the treatment of primary and secondary brain tumors.
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted through the databases PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library until October 2021.

The Lugano classification for response assessment in lymphoma recommends the use of the 5-point-scale Deauville Score (DS) to assess response evaluation of end-of-treatment FDG-PET/CT (eotPET) in Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL); nevertheless, there is a paucity of data on its accuracy and reproducibility. We focus here on the cohort of advanced stage IIb-IV HL patients enrolled in the HD0607 clinical trial (NCT identifier 00795613) that having had a negative interim PET performed 6 cycles of ABVD (Doxorubicin, Vinblastine, Vincristine and Dacarbazine) and then performed an eotPET. Negative patients were randomized to radiotherapy and no further treatment while positive patients were treated based on local policies.

Esophagectomy is the selected treatment for nonmetastatic esophageal and esophagogastric junction cancer, although high perioperative morbidity and mortality incur. Robot-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) effectively reduces cardiopulmonary complications compared to open esophagectomy and offers a technical advantage, especially for lymph node dissection and intrathoracic anastomosis. This article aims at describing our initial experience of Ivor Lewis RAMIE, focusing on the technique's main steps and robotic-sewn esophagogastrostomy.

Mycosis fungoides and Sèzary syndrome are the most studied subtypes common cutaneous T-cell lymphomas. The current treatment objective is to improve the clinical manifestations of the disease in the affected areas, to relieve symptoms and to halt disease progression. Patients with early-stage mycosis fungoides are usually managed with skin-directed therapies, whereas patients with resistant or advanced-stage mycosis fungoides or Sèzary syndrome often require systemic drugs.

Purpose: Anticancer treatment-related toxicities can impact morbidity and mortality, hamper the administration of treatment, worsen the quality of life and increase the burden on the healthcare system. Therefore, their prompt identification is crucial. NICSO (Italian Network for Supportive Care in Cancer) conducted a nationwide randomized trial to evaluate the role of a planned, weekly phone-based nurse monitoring intervention to prevent and treat chemotherapy, targeted therapy- and immunotherapy-related toxicities.

Background and Objectives: The aim was to compare the intra and postoperative outcomes between the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol versus the standard of care protocol (SCP) in patients who underwent radical cystectomy performed by a single surgeon. Materials and Methods: A retrospective comparative study was conducted including patients who underwent radical cystectomy from 2017 to 2020. Length of stay (LOS), incidence of ileus, early postoperative complications, and number of re-hospitalizations within 30 days were considered as primary comparative outcomes of the study.

Introduction: Extended interval dosing (EID) of Natalizumab (NAT) has been proposed to reduce progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) risk associated with standard interval dosing (SID) in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Previous studies have suggested that NAT effectiveness is maintained in the great majority of patients who switch from SID to EID; monitoring of disease activity is currently based exclusively on clinical and MRI parameters. Frequent MRI are expensive and not always applicable, underlining the need for biological markers able to detect central nervous system lesions.

Monoclonal gammopathy-associated idiopathic systemic capillary leak syndrome (ISCLS, Clarkson disease) is a rare disorder defined by transient but recurrent bouts of hypotensive shock and anasarca resulting from plasma extravasation. Although prophylactic treatment with high-dose intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG, 1-2 g/kg/mo) prevents most disease flares, its utility for acute episodes of ISCLS is unclear. Here, we report the results of a retrospective study of subjects with acute ISCLS treated at or near the onset of symptoms with IVIG.

Background: Evidence on the efficacy of minimally invasive (MI) segmental resection of splenic flexure cancer (SFC) is not available, mostly due to the rarity of this tumor. This study aimed to determine the survival outcomes of MI and open treatment, and to investigate whether MI is noninferior to open procedure regarding short-term outcomes.
Methods: This nationwide retrospective cohort study included all consecutive SFC segmental resections performed in 30 referral centers between 2006 and 2016.

Introduction: Blunt thoracic trauma (BTT) is a leading cause of emergency department (ED) trauma-related attendance. Risk prediction tools are commonly to predict patients' outcomes and assign them to the most appropriate care setting. The STUMBL score is a prognostic model for BTT, derived and validated in the United Kingdom; items comprising the score are age, number of rib fractures, use of pre-injury anticoagulants, chronic lung disease and oxygen saturation levels.

Introduction: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is characterized by a complex etiopathogenesis encompassing both host genetic and environmental -infectious/toxic- factors responsible for altered fibrogenesis and diffuse microangiopathy. A wide spectrum of clinical phenotypes may be observed in patients' populations from different geographical areas. We investigated the prevalence of specific clinical and serological phenotypes in patients with definite SSc enrolled at tertiary referral centres in different Italian geographical macro-areas.

Germline mutations in the tumor suppressor gene BRCA1-associated protein-1 () lead to tumor predisposition syndrome (-TPDS), characterized by high susceptibility to several tumor types, chiefly melanoma, mesothelioma, renal cell carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma. Here, we present the results of our ten-year experience in the molecular diagnosis of -TPDS, along with a clinical update and cascade genetic testing of previously reported -TPDS patients and their relatives. Specifically, we sequenced germline DNA samples from 101 individuals with suspected -TPDS and validated pathogenic variants (PVs) by assessing somatic loss in matching tumor specimens.

Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and a P2Y12 receptor antagonist is the cornerstone of therapy in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Adherence to medical therapy is an important issue, as premature DAPT discontinuation increases the risk of new ischemic events. The aim of the present observational prospective multicenter study was to evaluate in the real-world incidence and discontinuation patterns of ticagrelor during the first 12 months after ACS.

Since all-fours birth position is considered to decrease the rate of failure of vaginal birth and the risk of negative maternal and fetal outcomes, we wondered if all-fours would be favorable in case of operative vaginal delivery with obstetrical vacuum. We performed a simulation of vacuum application on a mannequin settled in all-fours position and we filmed this new application for diffusion among clinicians. We suggest that the all-fours position be considered and investigated in further studies as a possible way of delivery in case of operative vaginal delivery.
