Introduction: Early prediction of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) secondary to severe heat stroke (SHS) is crucial for improving patient outcomes. This study aims to develop and validate a risk prediction model for those patients based on immediate assessment indicators on ICU admission.
Methods: Two hundred eighty-four cases with SHS in our hospital between July 2009 and April 2024 were retrospectively reviewed, and categorized into non-MODS and MODS groups.

Purpose: Direct access to physical therapy (PT) requires PTs to act as primary care providers, making differential diagnosis a critical component of patient assessment. We investigated how participation in postgraduate training in differential diagnosis and medical screening influences PTs' confidence, self-efficacy, attitudes and beliefs about treating patients with low back pain (LBP).
Patients And Methods: This prospective, two-arm study involved 49 PTs in an intervention group and 70 in a control group.

Objectives: Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) has a high incidence and mortality, especially for elderly patients and patients who are positive for pathogenic microbial infection, this study explored the prognostic factors influencing the prognosis of elderly patients with pathogenic microorganisms positive of sepsis-associated encephalopathy.
Methods: Patients with SAE and pathogenic microbiology positive were included in this study from Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC IV) database. The main results of this study was analyzed the 28-day mortality rate of patients with pathogenic microorganism positive and SAE by Wilcoxon, Kaplan-Meier curve and other methods.

Long COVID is an often-debilitating condition with severe, multisystem symptoms that can persist for weeks or months and increase the risk of various diseases. Currently, there is a lack of diagnostic tools for Long COVID in clinical practice. Therefore, this study utilizes plasma proteomics and metabolomics technologies to understand the molecular profile and pathophysiological mechanisms of Long COVID, providing clinical evidence for the development of potential biomarkers.

To address this issue, we developed , an artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic system that utilizes natural language processing (NLP) to extract key clinical features from electronic health records (EHRs) for the accurate classification of respiratory diseases. This study employed a large cohort of 31,267 EHRs from multiple centers for model training and internal testing.

Background: Lung transplantation is the only effective therapeutic option for patients with end-stage lung disease. However, ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) during transplantation is a leading cause of primary graft dysfunction (PGD). Ferroptosis, a form of iron-dependent cell death driven by lipid peroxidation, has been implicated in IRI across various organs.

Background: Drug use disorder (DUD) poses a major public health crisis globally, necessitating immediate attention to global trends and future projections to develop effective health policies and interventions. Thus, we aimed to estimate the global trends in DUD mortality rates from 1990 to 2021 and future projections of DUD deaths until 2040 across 73 countries.
Methods: In this time-series analysis and modelling study, we investigated the global trends in DUD mortality rates from 1990 to 2021 using the WHO Mortality Database and forecasted future trends through 2040.

Background: Cardiogenic shock (CS) is a heterogeneous clinical syndrome, making it challenging to predict patient trajectory and response to treatment. This study aims to identify biological/molecular CS subphenotypes, evaluate their association with outcome, and explore their impact on heterogeneity of treatment effect (ShockCO-OP, NCT06376318).
Methods: We used unsupervised clustering to integrate plasma biomarker data from two prospective cohorts of CS patients: CardShock (N = 205 [2010-2012, NCT01374867]) and the French and European Outcome reGistry in Intensive Care Units (FROG-ICU) (N = 228 [2011-2013, NCT01367093]) to determine the optimal number of classes.
