This study aims to develop low-cost, eco-friendly, and circular economy-compliant composite materials by creating three types of magnetorheological suspensions (MRSs) utilizing lard, carbonyl iron (CI) microparticles, and varying quantities of gelatin particles (GP). These MRSs serve as dielectric materials in cylindrical cells used to fabricate electric capacitors. The equivalent electrical capacitance () of these capacitors is measured under different magnetic flux densities (B≤160 mT) superimposed on a medium-frequency electric field ( = 1 kHz) over a period of 120 s.

Significant gaps remain in the understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of fibromyalgia (FM), and the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced even more unknowns. Social factors specific to that period, the viral infection itself, and/or vaccination are additional elements that can complicate the progression of the disease or the response to treatment. Aim: The primary hypothesis to be evaluated in this study is that an acute COVID-19 infection, even when considered recovered, may induce changes in the response to non-pharmacological treatment in FM patients, particularly concerning pain.

Article Synopsis
  • Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive brain cancer, characterized by a poor prognosis due to resistance to treatments and frequent recurrences, despite advances in cancer management.
  • Diagnosis can be done through standard tissue biopsies or less-common liquid biopsies, both of which help identify biomarkers for treatment response.
  • A study of 518 GBM patients showed that younger age, complete tumor removal, minimal necrosis, and adjuvant radiotherapy can improve survival rates, highlighting the need for ongoing research and better therapeutic strategies.

Article Synopsis
  • - The article explores how infections may contribute to cardiovascular diseases (like atherosclerosis and strokes) and neurological disorders (such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's) through mechanisms like inflammation and immune responses.
  • - Evidence suggests that systemic inflammation from infections can worsen cardiovascular conditions and may play a role in the development of neurological diseases, indicating a potential link between these health issues and bacterial presence.
  • - Further research is necessary to understand these connections better and develop targeted therapies that combine infection eradication with anti-inflammatory treatments to improve patient outcomes.

Analysis of inflammatory biomarkers, along with the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) or platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), supports the connection between inflammation and carcinogenesis. We conducted a retrospective observational study at the Clinical County Hospital Mureș involving patients with lung cancer. The parameters analyzed included histopathological type (NSCLC: squamous cell carcinoma or adenocarcinoma; SCLC), molecular mutations (EGFR, ALK, PD-L1), parameters from the complete blood count, inflammatory parameters, and associated comorbidities.

  • A study evaluated the use of blackcurrant pomace extract (BPE) in emulsion gels made from sunflower and linseed oils as a substitute for pork backfat in Vienna sausages at concentrations of 2.5%, 5.0%, and 10.0%.
  • The reformulation reduced cooking loss and improved the fatty acid composition (lowering the n-6/n-3 ratio and increasing the PUFA/SFA ratio), but it negatively impacted the sausages' color and texture.
  • While BPE improved the oxidative stability of the sausages, using more than 5% BPE adversely affected sensory qualities like appearance and texture, making them less acceptable to consumers.

Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is a hormone involved in regulating the metabolism, energy balance, and glucose homeostasis, with new studies demonstrating its beneficial effects on the heart. This study investigated the relationship between FGF21 levels and clinical, biochemical, and echocardiographic parameters in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACSs). This study included 80 patients diagnosed with ACS between May and July 2023, categorized into four groups based on body mass index (BMI): Group 1 (BMI 18.

Capsaicin, the most prominent pungent compound of chilli peppers, has been used in traditional medicine systems for centuries; it already has a number of established clinical and industrial applications. Capsaicin is known to act through the TRPV1 receptor, which exists in various tissues; capsaicin is hepatically metabolised, having a half-life correlated with the method of application. Research on various applications of capsaicin in different formulations is still ongoing.

Introduction: Aggression in sports is often perceived as a necessary trait for success, especially in martial arts. Aggression can be assessed both explicitly and implicitly, taking into account the dual processing model. The purpose of the research was to examine explicit and indirect, latency-based measure of aggression in competitive athletes practicing striking combat sports, according to gender and sports performance.

The accurate diagnosis of gout frequently constitutes a challenge in clinical practice, as it bears a close resemblance to other rheumatologic conditions. An undelayed diagnosis and an early therapeutic intervention using uric acid lowering therapy (ULT) is of the utmost importance for preventing bone destruction, the main point of managing gout patients. Advanced and less invasive imaging techniques are employed to diagnose the pathology and ultrasonography (US) stands out as a non-invasive, widely accessible and easily reproducible method with high patient acceptability, enabling the evaluation of the full clinical spectrum in gout.

This paper aims to identify the factors that are positively or negatively impacting students' well-being and their academic engagement. We used partial least-squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using the data collected through a questionnaire from four countries: Romania, Turkey, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. The model includes seven factors that influence the well-being of students and indirectly their academic engagement: stressors in the students' lives; professors' support; social support from family and friends; the students' perceived satisfaction in their lives; engaging in activities during their leisure time; self-exploration regarding their careers; and environmental exploration regarding their careers.

Department Finance, Banking and Economic Analysis, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, University of Craiova, Craiova, Romania.

The research aims to provide a new approach and insights into the nexus between economic growth and green energy by analyzing their direct, indirect, and total linkages at the European Union level (EU-27). To this end, an advanced empirical analysis performed by network analysis, as Gaussian Graphical Models, is carried out for the period 2012-2022 The originality of network analysis lies in the fact that it allows the simultaneous visualization of all the links between variables in a complex system of dependencies. The novelty of the paper is twofold: first, it addresses the issue of renewable energy in an innovative way that captures three key stages of the EU policy (renewables' capacity; share of renewable energy; and final consumption); second, it advances the nexus analysis by considering technological investments.
