Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are vital dietary elements that play a significant role in human nutrition. They are highly regarded for their positive contributions to overall health and well-being. Beyond the fact that they provide a substantial supply of energy to the body (a role that saturated fats can also perform), these unsaturated fatty acids and, especially, the essential ones are involved in cell membrane structure, blood pressure regulation, and coagulation; participate in the proper functioning of the immune system and assimilation of fat-soluble vitamins; influence the synthesis of pro- and anti-inflammatory substances; and protect the cardiovascular system.

Olmesartan medoxomil (OLM) is the prodrug of olmesartan, an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker that has antihypertensive and antioxidant activities and renal protective properties. It exhibits low water solubility, which leads to poor bioavailability and limits its clinical potential. To improve the solubility of OLM, a host-guest inclusion complex (IC) between heptakis(2,6-di-O-methyl)-β-cyclodextrin (DMβCD) and the drug substance was obtained.

: Amyloidosis is a disorder characterized by the abnormal folding of proteins, forming insoluble fibrils that accumulate in tissues and organs. This accumulation disrupts normal tissue architecture and organ function, often with serious consequences, including death if left untreated. Light-chain amyloidosis (AL) and hereditary transthyretin-type amyloidosis (hATTR) are two of the most common types.

Background: Diabetes mellitus is closely related to periodontal disease and dental lesions, disorders which through dental infection and metabolic imbalance become negatively potentiated and cause a vicious circle that is almost impossible to break. The aim of this research was to study if the severity of dental and periodontal lesions is related to the presence of microvascular complications and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: In total, 112 subjects with T2DM that underwent a dental evaluation were enrolled in this case-control study.

Unlabelled: Obesity represents a critical public health concern, often linked to low-grade chronic inflammation starting in childhood. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a 12-week kinesiotherapy program on physical performance and levels of leptin and C-reactive protein (CRP) in overweight and obese children.
Methods: Conducted at the Filantropia Municipal Clinical Hospital, 160 children aged 6 to 15 were randomly assigned to a study group (SG, n = 80) and a control group (CG, n = 80).

Background: In the last few decades, it has been emphasized that dopamine, a well-known neurotransmitter with multiple roles in central nervous system, is also implicated in the activity of peripheral tissues and organs, more specifically influencing the gastrointestinal system (GI).
Methods: We registered a protocol under the CRD42024547935 identifier in the Prospero register of systematic reviews. Furthermore, using the Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Study Design strategy to guide our study rationale, and under the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses recommendations, we conducted a qualitative systematic literature search based on the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using the "gastric cancers AND dopamine" search criteria.

: CI-RM6P has different binding sites with affinities for both M6P and IGF2, plays a role in the regulation of the TGF-β and IGF pathways that is important for controlling cell growth and differentiation. We hypothesize that previously synthesised derivative of M6P could be an alternative candidate for bone tissue regeneration in terms of higher binding affinity, stability in human serum, low cost and temporal delivery. : CH-M6P is synthesised based on previously described protocol; mesenchymal origin of isolated DPSCs was assessed by flow cytometry and AR staining prior to alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity test, qPCR to evaluate differentiation specific marker expression, immunofluoresence, and SEM/EDS to evaluate organic and inorganic matrix formation; and rat aortic ring model to evaluate angiogenic effect of molecule.

Background: When conventional trans-venous CS lead placement fails, trans-septal endocardial left ventricle lead placement is an alternative technique used to capture the left ventricle endocardially; however, its use is limited due to a lack of evidence, practice uptake, and clinical trials.
Methods: In this single-center cohort study, we evaluated the efficiency of the procedure, post-procedural complication rate, rate of thromboembolic events, overall survival rate, and changes in the echocardiographic parameters, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level, and New York Heart Association (NYHA) class, both before and after TSLV lead implantation.
Results: The TSLV lead implant is safe and improves EF, LVEDV, LVESV, and LVIDd.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most prevalent form of dementia, is characterized by progressive cognitive decline and behavioral disturbances, with an increasing incidence as the global population ages. This study investigates the effects of semaglutide (SEM), a glucagon-like peptide-1 analog, on cognitive function and anxiety-like behavior in a transgenic murine model of AD.
Methods: 20 mice were randomly distributed into the following groups ( = 5): (WT + VEH) group: C57BL/6J + saline, (WT + SEM) group: C57BL/6J + semaglutide, (AD + VEH) group: AD + saline, (AD + SEM) group: AD + semaglutide.

Background/objectives: Psoriasis is a chronic dermatological condition with systemic implications, especially with metabolic syndrome (MS). This study evaluated the vicious cycle where obesity and MS exacerbate systemic inflammation that complicates the efficacy of psoriasis therapies by examining the PASI score over a one-year period. Patients were classified into two subgroups: those with psoriasis alone (PSO) and those with both psoriasis and metabolic syndrome (PSO-MS).

Coatomer subunit α (COPA) syndrome is a mendelian autosomal dominant immune dysregulation disease characterized by early onset lung disease in the form of diffuse alveolar hemorrhaging or interstitial lung disease, frequently associated with arthritis, glomerulonephritis, and high titer autoantibodies usually mimicking other autoimmune diseases. While immunosuppressive medication has been effective in controlling arthritis, data on long-term lung disease control remains scarce, which poses a real challenge as the progression of lung disease is the main cause of poor life expectancy in COPA patients. Nevertheless, JAK inhibitor therapy seems to be the most promising therapeutic choice now.

The emergence of carbapenem-resistant pathogenic bacteria is a growing global public health concern. Carbapenem-resistant uropathogenic strains of can cause uncomplicated or complicated urinary tract infections, leading to a high risk of treatment failure and the spread of resistance determinants. The objectives of this 24-month study were to identify the prognostic characteristics of patients who were infected with carbapenem-resistant () and to create a tool to estimate the probability of a infection before having the complete results of a patient's antibiogram.
