Background: Advances in paediatric type 1 diabetes management and increased use of diabetes technology have led to improvements in glycaemia, reduced risk of severe hypoglycaemia, and improved quality of life. Since 1993, progressively lower HbA targets have been set. The aim of this study was to perform a longitudinal analysis of HbA, treatment regimens, and acute complications between 2013 and 2022 using data from eight national and one international paediatric diabetes registries.

This review presents a current perspective on the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoporosis. Many factors contribute to the increased risk of osteoporosis and fracture in RA patients. These factors include advanced age, duration of disease, long-term glucocorticoid use, and poor inflammation control inflammation in RA.

With the rapid progress of industrialization, the incidence of peripheral nerve injuries caused by trauma has been continuously increasing. These injuries result in a significant number of disabilities and irreversible functional impairments, not only severely impacting the health and quality of life of patients but also placing a heavy economic burden on families and society. Effectively promoting peripheral nerve regeneration has thus become a key focus and challenge in current research.

Background: Platinum-based chemotherapy is one of the main treatments for lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). However, the toxic side effects and drug resistance of chemotherapeutic drugs on normal cells are still a thorny problem in clinical treatment. Dendrobium is one of the three largest genera of Orchidaceous family, which has ornamental and medicinal value.

Background/objectives: The search for novel ways of providing treatment also targets the development of formulations used in drug delivery. Among the important characteristics of pharmaceutical gels are their ability to penetrate membranes, their capability to offer rapid response, and their capacity to avoid the hepatic metabolization route followed by many drugs. Bigels combine the advantages of both hydrogels and oleogels, creating a biphasic system that might improve the solubility of amiodarone in water, which is otherwise poorly soluble.

Objective: In our experimental study, we evaluated the influence of treatment with atorvastatin on the antioxidant activity of intracellular and extracellular systems factors, homocysteine levels (Hcy), and lipid profiles in obese and diabetic rats.
Method: Twenty-one male Wistar rats, aged 6 months, 450-550 g, were allocated into three groups. From the beginning of the study, the first group (G-I, control) received only standard food, while the second and third groups (G II-obese, G III-diabetic) were administered a high-fat diet (HFD) with 2% cholesterol.

Reflex syncope (RS) is the most prevalent form of syncope, yet its pathophysiology and clinical presentation are not well understood. Despite controversy, the 'ventricular theory' remains the most plausible hypothesis to explain RS in susceptible patients. Certain assumptions regarding the geometry and function of the heart are essential in supporting this theory.

: With modern diagnostic tools, incidence ischemia with no obstructive coronary atherosclerosis (INOCA) and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) are found to be much higher than previously believed, and-as they lead to adverse cardiovascular outcomes-their causes and development are subjects of ongoing research. There is growing evidence that coronary microvascular dysfunction might be the underlying cause of both INOCA and HFpEF. : In 65 patients with effort angina but no obstructive coronary artery disease, the index of microvascular resistance and coronary flow reserve were measured invasively in the LAD.

: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) are complex diseases that require precise diagnosis and management. The ESC risk score has been used in both conditions. We assessed the relationship between the EmPHasis-10 questionnaire (patient subjective evaluation) and objective assessment using endorsed tools (simplified four-strata risk assessment and right ventricular imaging by transthoracic echocardiography).

: Ventral hernia repair (VHR) is a common surgical intervention linked to specific surgical site complications. In such occurrences, the related morbidity is often substantial. Although known risk factors have long been recognized, their systematic inclusion in risk stratification systems lacks universal validation.

Recent advances have highlighted the gut microbiota as a significant contributor to the development and progression of atherosclerosis, which is an inflammatory cardiovascular disease (CVD) characterized by plaque buildup within arterial walls. The gut microbiota, consisting of a diverse collection of microorganisms, impacts the host's metabolism, immune responses, and lipid processing, all of which contribute to atherosclerosis. This review explores the complex mechanisms through which gut dysbiosis promotes atherogenesis.

(Re-)emerging arboviruses, such as tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), West Nile virus (WNV), and Usutu virus (USUV), are continuously increasing in incidence. We analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of flavivirus infections in humans, sentinel animals, and mosquitoes detected in the 2022 transmission season in Croatia. From April to November 2022, 110 hospitalized patients with neuroinvasive diseases (NID) were tested for the presence of arboviruses.

Advanced hemodynamic monitoring is fundamental in the management of the critically ill. Blood pressure and cardiac function are key markers of cardiovascular system function;, thus, having accurate measurements of these parameters in critically ill patients is essential. Currently, there are various methods available to choose from, as well as a greater understanding of the methods and criteria to be able to compare devices and select the best option for our patients' needs.

: This observational study investigates the relationship between Lipoprotein (a) (Lp(a)) levels and the risk of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This study aims to highlight the association of elevated Lipoprotein (a) levels with an increased atherogenic profile and the potential risk of AMI. : We conducted a case-control study involving 106 individuals, including 64 AMI patients (both STEMI and NSTEMI) and 42 healthy controls.

Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (ExCR) programs are essential for patients diagnosed with cardiac diseases. Studies have shown that they aid in the rehabilitation process and may even facilitate a return to previous cardiorespiratory fitness. Also, patients who enroll and follow such programs have shown a lower rate of complications and mortality in the long run.

: Diabetic patients are more likely to develop infections compared to the general population, especially urinary tract infections (UTIs). The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of UTIs in a population of patients with diabetes (DM) from Romania, to identify the most common uropathogens and their antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns, as well as to determine the correlations between resistance behavior and particularities of patients with UTIs according to DM type. : The hospital records of 1282 type 1 (T1D) and type 2 DM (T2D) adult inpatients who were ordered urine cultures during hospitalization were reviewed, and all 241 patients who presented a positive urine culture were included in the present study analysis.

: Heart failure (HF) is one of the most common initial presentations of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). There are different cardiac biomarkers related to the pathophysiological mechanisms of HF in T2DM. The current research aims to identify additional biomarkers that could improve the diagnosis and prognosis of HFpEF, which is currently assessed using NT pro-BNP levels.
