Background: Metastasis has been a cause of the poor prognosis and cancer relapse of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients. The metastatic nature of TNBC is contributed by the breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) which have been implicated in tumorigenesis. Higher expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in breast CSCs has been used as a molecular target for breast cancer therapeutics.

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) tumors are composed of a heterogeneous population containing both cancer cells and cancer stem cells (CSCs). These CSCs are generated through an epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), thus making it pertinent to identify the unique EMT-molecular targets that regulate this phenomenon.
Methods And Results: In the present study, we performed in silico analysis of microarray data from luminal, Her2, and TNBC cell lines and identified 15 relatively unexplored EMT-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) along with the markedly high expression of EMT-transcription factor (EMT-TF), SNAI1.

The inability of two-dimensional cell culture systems to adequately map the structure and function of complex organs like skin necessitates the development of three-dimensional (3D) skin models. A diverse range of 3D skin equivalents have been developed over the last few decades for studying complex properties of skin as well as for drug discovery and clinical applications for skin regeneration in chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, where the normal mechanism of wound healing is compromised. These 3D skin substitutes also serve as a suitable alternative to animal models in industrial applications and fundamental research.

Hypovascularized diabetic nonhealing wounds are due to reduced number and impaired physiology of endogenous endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) population that limits their recruitment and mobilization at the wound site. For enrichment of the EPC repertoire from nonendothelial precursors, abundantly available mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) were reprogrammed into induced endothelial cells (iEC). We identified cell signaling molecular targets by meta-analysis of microarray data sets.

ESAT-6 is a small secreted protein of involved in the ESAT-6 secretion system (ESX-1)-mediated virulence and pathogenesis. The protein interacts with β2M, causing downregulation of MHC class I Ag presentation, which could be one of the mechanisms by which it favors increased survival of the bacilli inside the host. In an earlier study, we have shown that the C-terminal region of ESAT-6 is crucial for its interaction with β2M.

Vaccinology has evolved from a sub-discipline focussed on simplistic vaccine development based on antibody-mediated protection to a separate discipline involving epidemiology, host and pathogen biology, immunology, genomics, proteomics, structure biology, protein engineering, chemical biology, and delivery systems. Data mining in combination with bioinformatics has provided a scaffold linking all these disciplines to the design of vaccines and vaccine adjuvants. Areas covered: This review provides background knowledge on immunological aspects which have been exploited with informatics for the in silico analysis of immune responses and the design of vaccine antigens.

Objective: Olmesartan medoxomil (OLM) is an antihypertensive drug with low oral bioavailability (28%) resulting from poor aqueous solubility, presystemic metabolism and P-glycoprotein mediated efflux. The present investigation studies the role of lipid nanocarriers in enhancing the OLM bioavailability through oral delivery.
Materials And Methods: Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) were prepared by solvent emulsion-evaporation method.
Amino-terminal acetylation is a critical co-translational modification of the newly synthesized proteins in a eukaryotic cell carried out by six amino-terminal acetyltransferases (NATs). All NATs contain at least one catalytic subunit, and some contain one or two additional auxiliary subunits. For example, NatE is a complex of Naa10, Naa50, and Naa15 (auxiliary).

Lipidic systems are considered to be the most promising carrier for drug delivery to brain. Metabolic substrates like carbohydrates and amino acids are able to traverse the blood-brain barrier (BBB) by specific carrier-mediated transport systems like glucose transporters present on the both luminal and abluminal side of the BBB. With this objective, the docetaxel (DTX) loaded solid lipidic nanoparticles were formulated and surface modified with a mannose derived ligand p-aminophenyl-α-D-mannopyranoside (MAN) to develop MAN conjugated lipidic nanoparticles for targeting DTX to brain.

Introduction: Consumption of highly processed calories dense diet leads abrupt increase in postprandial blood glucose level, which in turn induces immediate oxidative stress. Postprandial hyperglycemia (PPHG) and resultant oxidative stress is one of the earliest detectable abnormalities in diabetes prone individuals, independent risk factor for development of cardiovascular disorders (CVD), a major pathophysiological link between diabetes and CVD and an important contributing factor in atherogenesis even in non-diabetic individuals. Therefore, dietary supplements mitigating PPHG spikes along with potent antioxidant activities may help decrease development of PPHG and oxidative stress induced pathogenesis.
