Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) that is upregulated in aggressive triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Ligands such as EGF, TGF-α, epigen, and amphiregulin activate the auto-phosphorylation activity of tyrosine residues on EGFR, which regulates the growth, proliferation, adhesion, migration, and survival of cancer cells. Our prior studies depicted that inhibition of EGFR modulates the chemosensitivity in breast cancer stem cells and, thus, serves as a potent therapeutic target in breast cancer.

A high abundance of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in malignant cells makes them a prospective therapeutic target for basal breast tumors. Although EGFR inhibitors are in development as anticancer therapeutics, there exists limitations due to the dose-limiting cytotoxicity that limits their clinical utilization, thereby necessitating the advancement of effective inhibitors. In the present study, we have developed common pharmacophore hypotheses using 30 known EGFR inhibitors.

The energy sector has demonstrated significant enthusiasm for investigating post-combustion CO capture, storage, and separation. However, the practical application of current porous adsorbents is impeded by challenges related to cost competitiveness, stability, and scalability. Intregation of heteroatoms in the porous organic polymers (POPs) dispense it more susceptible for CO adsorption to attenuate green house gases.

Background: Metastasis has been a cause of the poor prognosis and cancer relapse of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients. The metastatic nature of TNBC is contributed by the breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) which have been implicated in tumorigenesis. Higher expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in breast CSCs has been used as a molecular target for breast cancer therapeutics.

Cerebral ischemic stroke is one of the foremost global causes of death and disability. Due to inadequate knowledge in its sequential disease mechanisms, therapeutic efforts to mitigate acute ischemia-induced brain injury are limited. Recent studies have implicated epigenetic mechanisms, mostly histone lysine acetylation/deacetylation, in ischemia-induced neural damage and death.

Short Title: Benzimidazoisoquinoline derivatives as potent antifibrotics Hepatic fibrosis is a pathological condition of liver disease with an increasing number of cases worldwide. Therapeutic strategies are warranted to target the activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), the collagen-producing cells, an effective strategy for controlling the disease progression. Benzimidazoisoquinoline derivatives were synthesized as hybrid molecules by the combination of benzimidazoles and isoquinolines to evaluate their anti-fibrotic potential using an in-vitro and in-vivo model of hepatic fibrosis.

Evolution of new variants of SARS-CoV-2 warrant the need for the continued efforts in identifying target-oriented new drugs. Dual targeting agents against M and PL not only overcome the incomplete efficacy but also the drug resistance, which is common problem. Since both these are cysteine proteases, we designed 2-chloroquinoline based molecules with additional imine moiety in the middle as possible nucleophilic warheads.

The development of efficient metal-free photocatalysts for the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) for sulfur mustard (HD) decontamination can play a vital role against the stockpiling of chemical warfare agents (CWAs). Herein, one novel concept is conceived by smartly choosing a specific ionic monomer and a donor tritopic aldehyde, which can trigger linker-independent regioselective protonation/deprotonation in the polymeric backbone. In this context, the newly developed vinylene-linked ionic polymers (TPA/TPD-Ionic) are further explored for visible-light-assisted detoxification of HD simulants.

Neuroblastoma arises when immature neural precursor cells do not mature into specialized cells. Although retinoic acid (RA), a pro-differentiation agent, improves the survival of low-grade neuroblastoma, resistance to retinoic acid is found in high-grade neuroblastoma patients. Histone deacetylases (HDAC) inhibitors induce differentiation and arrest the growth of cancer cells; however, HDAC inhibitors are FDA-approved mostly for liquid tumors.

Background: Breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy encounter a significant challenge of chemoresistance because of drug efflux by ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. Breast cancer cell density alters considerably throughout the early stages of primary and secondary tumor development. Although cell density in culture influences kinetics, the effects of varying cell densities on the chemoresistance of breast cancer cells remains largely unexplored.

One of the critical steps in lignocellulosic deconstruction is the hydrolysis of crystalline cellulose by cellulases. Endoglucanases initially facilitate the breakdown of cellulose in lignocellulosic biomass and are further aided by other cellulases to produce fermentable sugars. Furthermore, if the endoglucanase is processive, it can adsorb to the smooth surface of crystalline cellulose and release soluble sugars during repeated cycles of catalysis before dissociating.
