Objective: Diabetic foot ulcers are the most common cause of hospitalization among the diabetic complications. Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) has a critical role in medical follow-up of diabetic patients. In fact, the role of HbA1C and related clinical parameters has been investigated in literature there are only a few studies investigating the relationship between HbA1C and the prolonged antibiotherapy.

The effect of lidocaine and tramadol in nasal packs on pain after septoplasty.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare the analgesic effects of tramadol-absorbed merocel nasal packings and lidocaine-absorbed merocel nasal packings using visual analog scale (VAS) in the postoperative period in patients undergoing septoplasty operation.

Background: The most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and the gold-standard treatment for high-risk tumours is Mohs surgery. However, alternative methods are needed for high-risk tumours in countries where the performance rate of Mohs surgery is low.

Objectives: The objective of this article is to investigate the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of margin-controlled, staged surgical excision (MCSSE) in high-risk tumours as a possible treatment alternative.

Management of Thyrotoxicosis in Children and Adolescents: A Turkish Multi-center Experience.

Objective: To determine the demographic and biochemical features of childhood and juvenile thyrotoxicosis and treatment outcome.

Methods: We reviewed the records of children from 22 centers in Turkey who were diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis between 2007 to 2017.

Results: A total of 503 children had been diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis at the centers during the study period.

Arteriovenous fistulas ipsilateral to internal jugular catheters for hemodialysis have decreased patency rates.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of hemodialysis catheters on the survival of subsequent arteriovenous fistulas, according to the relative localization to the catheters.

Methods: A total of 201 patients who initiated dialysis therapy using a hemodialysis catheter were eligible for this retrospective study. Arteriovenous fistulas were created on the nondominant upper extremity after the placement of hemodialysis catheters.

Objective: To date, there is no consensus on the selection of type and size of prosthetic valve for aortic valve replacement (AVR). The aim of this study was to compare anatomical and functional changes occurring in the left ventricle after AVR with different sizes of mechanical valves.

Methods: A total of 92 patients with serious aortic valve stenosis, who underwent AVR between March 2001 and June 2008 using mechanical valves of different sizes, were retrospectively analysed.

As we plan to use blood resources during casualty transport, the impact of transport-related mechanical stress on packed red blood cells (PRBCs) was analyzed.

Incidence of Type 1 Diabetes in Children Aged Below 18 Years during 2013-2015 in Northwest Turkey.

Hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma syndrome: a case report and implications of early onset.

Hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma (HLRCC) is an autosomal dominant manifestation of cutaneous and uterine leiomyomas together with renal cancer due to autosomal dominant germline mutations of fumarate hydratase gene. A twenty-year-old female patient presented with type-II segmental piloleiomyoma and increased menstruation due to uterine leiomyomas, with a history of bilateral nephrectomy performed at 13 and 16 years of age for type 2 papillary renal cell carcinoma. This case represents one of the very early onsets of hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma syndrome.

Relationship between Pulmonary Artery Stiffness and Functional Capacity in Patients with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction.

Background And Objectives: Functional capacity varies significantly among patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), and it remains unclear why functional capacity is severely compromised in some patients with HFrEF while it is preserved in others. Background: Magnetic resonance arthrography, a procedure through which contrast agents containing gadolinium and/or iopromide are administered intra-articularly, has become a useful tool in musculoskeletal diagnosis. Nevertheless, despite being considered safe for systemic use, certain tissue toxicities have been identified for both drugs. In this study, the effects of short-term exposure of human primary chondrocyte cell cultures to gadolinium and/or iopromide contrast agents were examined by assaying for stage-specific embryonic antigen-1 (SSEA-1) protein expression (a chondrogenic differentiation marker), cell viability, toxicity, and proliferation.

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of intravenous zoledronic acid applied systemically on osseointegration of dental implants and the surrounding bone mineral density (BMD) in the ovariectomized rats.

Material And Methods: 36 rats were divided into three groups: control (CTRL), ovariectomy (OVX), and ovariectomy-zoledronic acid (OVX/ZOL). The rats in the CTRL group underwent sham surgery, while rats in OVX and OVX / ZOL group underwent ovariectomy.

Evaluation of patient satisfaction with different hearing aids: A study of 107 patients.

We retrospectively investigated patient satisfaction with different types of hearing aids in 107 patients-60 males and 47 females, aged 8 to 84 years (mean: 53.8)-with unilateral or bilateral hearing loss, each of whom used two different hearing devices for at least 3 years per device. The International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids, Turkish edition (IOI-HA-TR) was used to evaluate satisfaction levels; we also calculated our own total individual subjective satisfaction (TISS) scores.

A case of hepatic portal venous gas after colonoscopy.

Hepatic portal venous gas (HPVG) is a rare radiologic finding that is usually precipitated by intestinal ischaemia, intra-abdominal abscesses, necrotising enterocolitis, abdominal trauma, infectious enteritis, and inflammatory bowel disease. In this study, we present a case of HPVG in a 66-year-old female patient who underwent colonoscopy for evaluation of haematochezia and a review of the literature focused on HPVG following colonoscopy.
