The genus includes numerous species, both cultivated and wild, offering significant genetic variability and economic potential that are often overlooked. Due to their high variability and ecological plasticity, jujube species and genotypes can be utilized in marginal areas and on land where few plants could be efficiently exploited. This study investigated variations in morphological characteristics (qualitative and quantitative), bioactive content (e.

The recovery of palladium from aqueous solutions is important due to its critical role in various industrial applications and the growing demand for sustainable resource management. This study investigates the potential of hybrid materials composed of MgAl layered double hydroxides (LDHs), chitosan, and ionic liquids (methyl trialchil ammonium chloride) for the efficient adsorption of palladium ions from low-concentration aqueous solutions. Comprehensive characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (RX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and thermogravimetric analysis (TG), were employed to elucidate the structural and compositional properties of the hybrid materials.

This paper explores a novel synthesis and characterization of silica-coated gold nanorods (AuNRs) embedding a highly emissive cyclometalated iridium(III) complex, denoted as Ir. We investigate the optical properties and the interplay between the metal compound and gold plasmon, observing how the emission of Ir incorporated into the nanoparticles shows two emission bands, one in the blue and the other in the green-orange range of the visible spectrum. To obtain a clearer picture of what we were observing, we synthesized analogous nanosystems, from which it was possible to highlight the effect of different features.

A paramagnetic AB-type Mn(III)-porphyrin was synthesized and characterized by physical-chemical methods (UV-Vis, FT-IR, H-NMR spectroscopy). The obtained compound was tested as a sensitive material for the spectrophotometric and potentiometric detection of iodine species. Using UV-Vis spectroscopy, the triiodide anions could be detected with high precision in the concentration interval of 1.

The aim of this study was to develop new materials with adsorbent properties that can be used for the adsorption recovery of Au(III) from aqueous solutions. To achieve this result, it is necessary to obtain inexpensive adsorbent materials in a granular form. Concomitantly, these materials must have a high adsorption capacity and selectivity.

In the technologically important field of anticorrosion coatings, it is imperative to form well-defined and characterized films to protect the metal surface from corrosion. Phosphonate-based corrosion mitigation approaches are currently being exploited. Herein, the synergistic action of alkaline-earth metal ions and two carboxy-diphosphonates, PAIBA [-bis(phosphonomethyl)-2-aminoisobutyric acid] and BPMGLY [-(phosphonomethyl)glycine], is explored.

The need to develop advanced wastewater treatment techniques and their use has become a priority, the main goal being the efficient removal of pollutants, especially those of organic origin. This study presents the photo-degradation of a pharmaceutical wastewater containing Kabi cytarabine, using ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and a synthesized catalyst, a composite based on bismuth and iron oxides (BFO). The size of the bandgap was determined by UV spectroscopy, having a value of 2.

Monitoring antibiotic retention in human body fluids after treatment and controlling heavy metal content in water are important requirements for a healthy society. Therefore, the approach proposed in this study is based on developing new optical sensors using porphyrin or its bifunctional hybrid materials made with AuNPs to accomplish the accurate detection of chloramphenicol and cobalt. To produce the new optical chloramphenicol sensors, 2,7,12,17-tetra-tert-butyl-5,10,15,20-tetraaza-21H,23H-porphine (TBAP) was used, both alone in an acid medium and as a hybrid material with AuNPs in a water-DMSO acidified environment.

Among the intriguing bicontinuous self-assembled structures, the gyroid cubic is the most ubiquitous. It is found in block and star polymers, surfactants with or without solvent, in thermotropic liquid crystals with end- or side-chains, and in biosystems providing structural color and modelling cell mitosis. It contains two interpenetrating networks of opposite chirality and is thus achiral if, as usual, the content of the two nets is the same.

The growth of industrial activities has produced a significant increase in the release of toxic organic pollutants (OPs) to the environment from industrial wastewater. On this premise, this study reports the use of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) impregnated with various ionic liquids (ILs) in the adsorption of phenol derivatives, , 2,6-dimethylphenol and 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl. MOFs were prepared starting from 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) with divalent (Co, Ni, Cu) and trivalent (Ce) metal salts in mild hydrothermal conditions using water as a green solvent.

The multifunctionality of an AB mixed-substituted porphyrin, namely 5-(4-carboxyphenyl)-10,15,20-tris(4-methylphenyl)porphyrin (5-COOH-3MPP), was proven due to its capacity to detect procaine by different methods, depending on the polymer matrix in which it is incorporated. The hybrid nanomaterial containing k-carrageenan and AuNPs (5-COOH-3MPP-k-carrageenan-AuNPs) was able to optically detect procaine in the concentration range from 5.76 × 10 M to 2.

Zr-based metal-organic framework materials (Zr-MOFs) with increased specific surface area and pore volume were obtained using chemical (two materials, and ) and solvothermal () synthesis methods and investigated via FT-IR spectroscopy, TGA, SANS, PXRD, and SEM methods. The difference between and lies in the addition of reactants during synthesis. Nitrogen porosimetry data indicated the presence of pores with average dimensions of ~4 nm; using SANS, the average size of the nanocrystals was suggested to be approximately 30 nm.
